its humbling i know

at least, so i've been told

to have reached the mountain top

for those of us still

only halfway up that hill

so often we have to stop

we ponder and wonder

and fight with frustration

we wonder, 'why bother at all'

we're cut and we're scratched

each other we attack

and so very many of us fall

for only a chosen few

whose humility is true

will share space with the clouds

i've tried so many times

now, the truth i find

is that i am not allowed
