people rest in circles

layers and layers

the smallest circle

contains only one person

and then the second smallest

contains only one

the third

has two or three

and so on

i put people in circles

(and they're always changing spots)

because it's easy to say who i like better

and who's closer to me

but the circles are the layers of my heart

it hurts to sew someone into the fabric

and it hurts equally to peel them off
