A white tom crouches close to the ground as he creeps through the forest. He keeps his eyes locked on a small red squirrel.
He lunges for the squirrel, grabbing its throat and giving it the killing bite.
"Good job Snowpaw," A brown tom steps out of the bushes.
"Thank you Brackenfur," Snowpaw mews around the squirrel in his mouth.
"Let's go back to camp," Brackenfur nods towards camp, "I believe you're ready to become a warrior.
Almost two seasons had passed since Snowpaw had returned home. Not a day passed that he didn't think about Silverfur. She had cared for him for several moons, she had taken him to get the treatment that made him no longer deaf.
The two toms begin padding back to camp together.

A/N short chapter, I know. The rest are much longer and I have big plans for this book. Originally I was going to start with him as a warrior but I need more length for the book so here's a chapter of apprenticeship!
