Chapter Eleven

"Oh I am very glad." He had smiled at me, eyes never leaving from mine. "I want to thank her in the office."

This was excruciating. One may have not perceived by my outward appearance, but internally my world went entirely blank. There was nothing in this situation I would have dreaded more than Yixing, but magically he always seemed to appear at exactly those times in which I wished for him to stare at his computer screen eternally. Nonetheless every eternity found their cease and split at some point, some sooner, some later, but Yixing always counted among those first— and that was my disadvantage. I should be despising him, yet here I was trying to find all the beauty among my disfavor.

"Jiye?" Junmyeon was looking straight into my eyes as I stood paralyzed in the center of his office, still having the master of time and actions towering closely behind me.

I snapped out of my thoughts and raised my eyebrows in confusion. "Yes, Mr. Kim?"

Yixing behind me chuckled quietly upon my retort, whilst Junmyeon pointed his pen towards the door that still stood wide open. "Mr. Zhang needs you in his office, didn't you hear him?"

"Oh?" I bowed slightly in irritation. "Excuse me, I will go then, Mr. Kim. Thank you for your time."

Once again, Mr. Zhang quietly chuckled behind me, taking a step closer while I took one back subconsciously. I blushed when my back collided with his chest, while he spoke quietly, "You don't have to use formalities in front of Junmyeon if I'm here." My eyes immediately darted to said male, who seemed to already be immersed in his work again.

Thus, I slightly turned my head towards Yixing, withdrawing from him when our arms brushed against the other unnecessarily. "Office, you said? What's there to do?" I gulped in order to mask the rich nervousness clinging to my body and nerves, futilely.

He stepped aside from his previous position at the doorframe, giving me space to walk through. "To talk." He said, watching me cautiously. "You can wait in the office, I will come right after you in a minute."

Before I could even let my lips fall agape to speak, he had turned around and left me standing in ajar door, making his way towards the small kitchen our office held. I leaned against the frame for a second, closing my eyes in a moment of retrieved calmness. I was wrong before— now I was in deep shit, previously it was just a first stage of the what I'd get in return for my careless and unreasonable behavior towards Jongin.

While fluttering my eyes open, I turned my head to face the office hall from Junmyeon's office still, analyzing who was absent and who was not, but hardly working behind their desk. My eyes's path immediately crossed with someone else's as I let them travel along the faces that were almost buried in the screens. They widened for a tensed moment, whereas the other's narrowed down to observe me standing motionlessly underneath that frame.

I shook my head and broke the nerve wrecking contact of our gazes, as I turned on my heels to close the door behind my back. Was Jongin trying to intimidate me now, after the somehow humiliating scene we had caused just before? I avoided to meet his eyes again and made my way over to Yixing's and my office with my eyes strictly focused in my feet shuffling over the floor, decreasing the space between my save heaven— at least, until Yixing would step inside and destroy my beloved harmony.

I strode to my desk, which I had left only half an hour before to get entangled in something incomprehensible and unpredictable. Placing my hands against the edge, I leaned my torso above it and closed my eyes in exhaustion, heaving a loud sigh. This was not how I imagined to spend the day, I immersed in my thoughts, having an argument with Jongin and soon also with Yixing, who'd surely leave no space for excuses. I wasn't sure on how to escape from this set trap, I was incapable of lying before Yixing— he'd know every time, having me wrapped around his finger.

I could already see him staring deeply and intensely into my orbs to draw the answer and truth right from my eyes that never lied. I opened my eyes and focused on the display, showing some article I was supposed to check for mistakes, as the door to my left squealed faintly being opened. I didn't have to tilt my head to identify the frame that hovered and turned into several directions to close the door.

"So," His voice was the next thing that arrived in my mind as he continued to move along the huge glass windows that separated our office from the office hall, "Fine thing you did there, Jiye." I heard rustling against the glass as he chuckled, signaling that he was slowly letting the shutters roll down one by one. "It's very unfortunate that no one asked you to do this, very sad."

I turned my head towards his figure, remaining in my position. "The folder was given to me by Krystal, and she must have grabbed the wrong one." I raised my eyebrows at him and narrowed my eyes. "Why are you interrogating me now, all private with no eyes on us? I'll tell you what I know." I straightened my posture and turned my body to face his. "Which is exactly nothing."

All throughout my statement, my voice remained quite steady and calm, earning amused laughs that erupted from the depths of his throat.

"There is a reason you know it was the wrong folder in the first place." He cocked his eyebrows as he looked at me, after shutting the last shutter, draining the room out of a part of its illumination. One could clearly see that he knew exactly what he was doing and needed to say, just by the way he acted confident— cunningly overconfident.

"Why are you making such a drama out of this? I don't care about this folder and its content, just let me continue to work on your article." I returned the front of my body towards the screen of my computer and sighed, "I am not even half through it."

I perceived his slow steps behind me, nearing to the back of my body tantalizingly slow. Anguish spread through my veins as I let my fingers curl around the edge anew, listening to his sharply whispered, hissed words. "You seemed to care enough to look at them and comment about it to Jongin." Even though I wasn't facing him, there was no use in denying that a smirk laced through his every, accusing word. "And how are you going to excuse yourself from this accusation, kitten?"

Soon enough I parted my trembling lips to reply, but his hand winding around my arm from behind urged only a silent gasp out from my mouth. I pressed them into a thin line again when I felt the heat of his body radiating off to mine, his chest dangerously close to my back while his lips nonchalantly traveled to my ear through air.

I bit on my lower lip when he let out an unclear laugh, already sweating in blended fear and thrill. "You can't, right?"

Another chance to respond slipped from my fingers like sand as just previously; he twisted me around energetically through his firm grip on my tensed arm, simultaneously pushing me against the edge of the table. My below squeezed against the sharp edge as I tried to win as much space as possible between us, but he once again cut into my plan when pressing his front against mine bluntly.

"Yixing." I breathed out sharply as I looked into his fear with widened eyes, keeping my hands glued to the table behind me. My vocal chords were slightly shuddering in fear and surprise, displaying my emotions directly onto my spoken words. "I told you that I don't understand anything and that I don't want to, it's not my business."

"You seem to get involved too often into this, considering it is not your business.", he mimicked the emphasis I had put on the last words especially, nearing his face even closer than it already was, "I know you're not completely stupid. If I was you, I'd better shut that pretty little mouth of yours. You wouldn't want to face consequences, right?" He smiled at me sweetly, as if just hadn't voiced a threat.

I held my breath as he came closer, pressing out my words, "I never wanted to get involved in the first place."

As if my argument was actual amusement, he laughed wholeheartedly. "It's too late to say that now when you're an ally, don't you think?"

"An ally?" I blinked at him in confusion. "I don't even understand what is going on, Yixing." Trying to allay the way I had been slowly weaved into the complex plait of their secret, brought me to another failure. He just laughed while pressing his body against mine with more pressure, letting me feel every bump and curve of it.

"And it's better if you don't, kitten." He tilted his head as he perceived the sudden tension of my muscles that was perceivable on his body due to our close position. "Even though I love when you act clueless you should take this matter a bit more seriously. Cut your sweet talk as long as it doesn't involve hidden sin, that's the only thing I accept."

I simply started into his eyes, robbed of speech in both positive and negative ways. Even though the negative ones clearly should have overshadowed the others, it was quite he contrary the occurred. I was on the verge, almost reached my pessimum by this point of the conversation that had taken and unexpected path once again
The question I needed to ask myself however was, if my pessimum equalled my very own optimum, and if my life gained sudden bliss and drive as soon as I neared to the outer edges of tolerance. If that was the case, I could carelessly devote myself to situations like these and play along, like react to his body in a calmer way. Otherwise..I couldn't think about that.

"I have something for you, by the way." His surprising words tore me from my thoughts in a matter of a split second and my body jolted against his. He looked to the floor in search of something, looking at me from the corner of his eyes. "That excited huh?"

He placed on of his palms against my hip as he crouched down, as if to stabilize himself. With his knees brushing softly against my shins as he leaned forward, I shut my lips to impede inappropriate sounds to slip from my lips.

I could not deny that all these words and the intimacy I had been acquiescent to had my body feeling different kind of tingles— different goosebumps than those you were covered in from freezing cold, different stirring in the pit of my stomach than one of nausea. It was all to strange with anyone else yet so familiar as long as it was Yixing, as if enhancing my senses to every way he touched me, to every word he said, to every of his heated breaths colliding with my skin.

Or when he looked into my eyes, like when he stood straight in front and against me again with a red, slick boutique shopping bag in his hands. The straps to hoist and carry it were made out of intensely red ribbon, contrasting heftily with the pallor of Yixing's hand that let the veins under his skin appear even more prominent.

He looked at me with a hidden smirk, letting the bag float through air as it dangled off from the straps wrapped around his fingers. "I bought this as a present for you considering a question I asked you in the restaurant. However, think about it as an addition now to keep what you saw between us, since it's nothing important anyway."

"Question?" I raised my eyebrows as I eyed the bag curiosity, "Which in particular? You asked a lot of questions that night." I retrieved my gaze back to him and sighed. "You don't have to buy me presents, whatever this is, I will be quiet and appreciate your effort even without having you spend money on me."

"You might change your mind once you see what's inside, believe me." He broke our eye contact to place the bag carefully on the surface behind me, the sly smile never languishing from his lips, even when he detached his body from mine. "Sadly I have to go now, so inform me about your liking tomorrow."

As even our bodies lost their touch to each other I felt completely lost, as if my previous living and surviving depended solely on him. Leaving me alone at the table, whose edge's I was still holding in physical and mental support, he walked over to his own to slide his coat off the office chair and his bag from the small corner of his desk.
"I still have an important meeting with the accountant to attend with Jongin." He did not put effort into letting his eyes find mine, simply gathering his things while talking towards whatever object or piece of furniture he was facing.

I watched his every move and turn, how his back stretched when he put on his coat, revealing his broad shoulders, and how his eyes attentively continued the quest for the things he'd need. At some point I mustered up enough courage to vocalize the question which had been racing in my mind since he had exposed the gift. " If I don't accept your gift, what will happen?"

Finally, while still snatching random but necessary folders from his desk, his eyes drifted back to mine from beneath his lashes. He eyed me in silence for a moment or two, before gifting me with the sweetest smile he had managed to plaster on today. Even his voice seemed to be covered in thick honey, gliding from his mouth. "Then daddy will be very sad, and we don't want that, do we?"

Yixing left at the most unfortunate moments— when my body was already trembling in an excited way he dared to add another ounce of fuel to the already fuming ember inside of me, before leaving me without anything to tame this beginning fire. After hoisting up his bag from the surface of his desk he made his way towards the door, looking at me from over his shoulder with a serious expression. As if the suggestive present on my table never existed.
"I'll see you tomorrow. Oh and can you," He monitored his hand towards the shutters covering the glass windows, "Pull these up again please? Thank you."

Perhaps his abrupt departure from me were connected to the idea of me being paralyzed and incapable of doing anything after he had once again turned me on in the slightest way. Today, it was our bodily touch and the excessive use of our chosen endearments that pushed me into lunacy and sweltering hotness.

I wiped my forehead with the back of my hand when he exited through the door, his back in my vision from a few more seconds before the door fell back into its lock.
I stuffed the bag with Yixing's supposed gift back under the table to hide it behind my  leather one, incase someone entered our office at a time I was not sitting behind the desk. Now, after all the sweating he had caused me, it was not the right time to internally slide further into death.
It was time for something I have craved the entire afternoon already; brewed, dark gold. I was currently sitting at the intersection of "dying of fatigue" and "exploding in utter thrill" and I hoped for the caffeine to prevent both tragic events to take place.

I checked if the view of the flamboyant shopping bag was perfectly masked by my leather bag in front of it, nodding in approval as I stood beside the door.  As I reassured myself for the ninth time already, I decided to turn around before I'd notice even one bit of the red behind the shiny black leather. I reopened the shutters that Yixing had previously dragged down and rearranged the chairs without glancing underneath the table.

Walking outside I was immediately met with the gazes of the few colleagues that were here near our office, including one that I could at least bear in this situation. Chanyeol observed me from his desk that was the closest to office, pursing his lips into a faint smile before he addressed me, while I still walked outside, "What's with the long face today, Jiye?" He neatly brought his papers into one stack while hitting their edges against the table. "That effected by Lisa's absence today?"

I snorted at his question, throwing him an unamused glare as I walked passed him towards our small kitchen, "No, just some complications with work."

He immediacy turned his body towards mine to follow me, carrying his empty white mug while chuckling. "Complications, huh?" His word carried a hint of ambiguity, "Is that why Mr. Zhang closed the shutters when you two were in there alone after you and Jongin caused this scene?"

I glanced at him from over my shoulder, "Does that matter?" I turned my head back to the front and entered the deserted kitchen, aiming for the coffee machine. "We're just mounted with work, that's all."

He quickly rushed passed me and positioned himself right in front of the machine I had reached my hand out to, blocking my way from the functioning button at its front.

"That's all?" He raised his eyebrow and tilted his head with a mischievous expression forming on his face. "Well, it must be very hard being Mr, Zhang's assistant. But you must like it, after all you never complain." He stepped to his right as I did to my left in order to pass around him to get to the coffee machine, preventing me from getting to my destination again.

"Chanyeol, what are you even doing?" I laughed in desperation and looked up at the incredibly tall male with pleading eyes. "Just let me make some coffee, I feel like I'll fall asleep in front of my computer."

"Ah, ah, ah, Chanyeol!" Another voice, that did not belong to either Chanyeol or me, ringed in the kitchen soon after he had laughed at my despair. Our heads both turned to the door that stood wide open as per usual, Yura leaning her palm against its frame. "Why are you making our poor Jiye suffer?"

I rolled my eyes at her ridiculously minimal choice of outfit which almost let her boobs  pop the button of her rose dress shirt, giving an exhausted sigh, "Oh what brings us the honor, Yura?"

She gave us a pressed smile, pushing herself off the doorframe before crossing her arms over her chest, "Oh, shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" Even her words were laced with this artificial kidness that I urged to slap from her face every darn time she spoke, "After all, Yixing seemed to bring a very salient present to your office today. Is it your birthday?"

Chanyeol furrowed his eyebrows in confusion while I rolled my eyes another time at her lame approach of investigation. "You're still stalking him?" I let out a single laugh as I mimicked her actions and crossed my arms, "Just for the record, this gift must have not been for me. But certainly, it wasn't for you either." I leaned closer to her for a moment before turning towards the coffee machine that was now exposed to me. "Don't make false assumptions once again, Mr, Zhang will not like it."

"Sure thing, sweetie." She was about to leave the office as I grabbed a clean cup for my coffee from the cupboard, halting right at the door for a moment. "I won't do that, until I see you walking out with this screaming bag later."

I ignored her, and so did Chanyeol. Neither did he ask me about the truth of her statement and questions, simply watching me while I stared at the coffee being poured into the cup. As I enclosed it in my hand and sniffed the intense smell I looked at him, shrugging my shoulders. "Don't know what she's talking about."

And Yura wouldn't be satisfied with the sight of me carrying the red bag in my hands; right before my shift ended -Yixing still hadn't returned from his meeting after three hours- I took out the content of the bag to stuff it into my own bag, before carefully folding the red shopping bag to hide it between the folders in it as well. I walked out with a content smile for two reasons that night; one: the disappointed look that must have been plastered all over Yura's stupid face, and secondly the fact that Yixing hit the jackpot with his surprising gift.

I mean, who could decline red, lacy lingerie?
