Chapter 14
Cordolium:
heartache; heartfelt sorrow
He growled. It was an animalistic sound filled with rage, and the golden eyes that surveyed the room burned vehemently. There had obviously been a struggle - one smaller creature against several larger ones - the room a broken mess, a pool of blood on the floor. He sniffed. The smell of fear and desperation invaded his senses, writing out the scene of a much one sided struggle.
How dare they.
He bent down, fingers dipping into the crimson blood, painting them with a very familiar substance.
To touch what is mine.
"Do they dare rage a war with Earth because they think I am weak?"
He spat, one hand cupping the back of his neck, plucking a metallic object from the skin. A dribble of warmth and he knew he was bleeding, but the fact did not register as he studied the alien tech that had been embedded in his flesh.
"An illegal-"
"Representative!" The door slammed open and the Ilitheal Representative barged into the room, her umber hair flying out behind her in a wild mess.
He simply looked at the alien, neither acknowledging nor greeting her. He was still seething in unconcealed rage, and her presence in this rare moment of weakness was not aiding him in the slightest.
"They took Mei-ja!" The Ilitheal continued, either ignoring or not noticing his lack of reply, she paused for less than a second, brown eyes taking in the state of his room, "They took Sol too."
He grit his teeth, jaw clenching as he nodded slowly, eyes beginning to loose their rage as he settled, instead now glaring blankly at the ground.
"They took my Solarace."
When he spoke, it came out as a croak, and swiftly, the Ilitheal crossed the trashed room until she was in front of him. With a gentleness found only in the way a mother treated her child, she settled her long fingers on his tensed jaw, lifting his head so his eyes stared into her own.
"They will pay." She comforted, rubbing his face firmly, "We will get them back. And we shall make sure they are never touched again. But to do so, I need you to be strong, unaffected, like you always are."
He took a deep breath, centering himself and returning to as close to his normal calm as he could possibly get. Then, he glanced at the thick wad of papers stacked innocently on one of the chairs decorating the room.
And smiled.
