MAC NEVER CALLED Junior back.
He eventually fell asleep on the foyer floor, waking to a loud knock on the front door.
"Mac!" A voice yells from outside.
Knowing whoever is behind his door doesn't have Mackenzie with them he doesn't bother getting up. The knocking continues to rattle the whole door making Junior's head hit the wood every time it jolts forward. Almost a minute passes before Junior's annoyance grows enough to thrust him into action. Always so hot under the collar.
"What the fuck do you want!" He bursts, throwing the door open letting it hit the wall of the foyer, and bounce back only to catch it again with his hand. It wasn't really a question, he doesn't care why the man is here. He just wants the blonde hair, blue-eyed, boy-next-door off his fucking porch.
"Who're you?" The man, who can't be older than 22, scrunches his eyebrows up in confusion and takes a step back, obviously losing whatever courage he once had and becoming more apprehensive with every passing second Junior doesn't fill with a response.
Junior keeps quiet, the kid was emanating fear and with any luck would just scurry away without Junior wasting any more of his time. Just as the kid began to reach behind himself for the handle to the screen porch door and leave he seems to get a second wind of determination and shoves both of his hands into his pockets.
"Who are you?" He asks again enunciating every word.
"Benjamin Butler Jr., why are you knocking on my door?"
The man at the door pushes a pair of thin wire glasses up his nose and looks under Junior's arm into the house causing his eyebrows to raise. He unsurely articulates a response.
"What happened here? Is Mackenzie- Mackenzie Leon here? She texted me to meet her here yesterday, she said she was-" The kid never got to finish. Junior's fist connects with the bridge of his nose. He knew what the boy had to say and he didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to be reminded of why his fiancèe had been so eager to run out their door. The wire there bends in painfully and the glass covering his left eye cracks, causing a small scratch on his brow bone that leaks blood slowly.
Blondie falls to the floor holding his eye. Junior draws his hand back and wraps the hem of his shirt around his rough knuckles. He meets Ms. Fiore's gaze across the street as she pauses in her action of watering her flowers and eavesdrops, shock plastered on her face and she drops the bright yellow watering can. Junior slams the door shut as she begins speed walking to his porch.
The police arrive only 30 minutes later.
