Chapter 17

At home after school I received a text message. I miss u too! Jessica finally replied. I sent her a message in September and it is now December. Why would Jessica send me a message until now?                                                                                      

Hey what have u been up to? She sent me another message.                                           

I’m doing pretty well. Why didn’t you answer me until now?                                              

I’ve been busy. I’m sorry.                                                                                       

Anyway what have you been doing? Has anything changed?                                       

Everything is pretty much the same. Ru happy over there?                                        

 Actually i am I’m glad I’m over here. A lot of things hav happened.                                     

U know tell me when I get there.                                                                              

Wat do u mean?                                                                                                    

I’m coming over this week only for a week cause I have to be home before x-mas. That’s gr8! I cant wait to c u ;)

I walked down stairs, “Mom, if Jessica would come over would you let her stay?”

“Well, yes if her parents give her permission. This is her home as well.”                      

“Great, cause she’s coming over this week.”                                                                  

“What do you mean?” I sat down on the chair closest to me.                                           

“She just texted me that she’s coming for a week, but she has to get back before Christmas.”                                                                                                                  

“That’s great.” Mom continued cutting the red peppers while I grabbed a cucumber from her cutting board.                                                                                          

Jessica came from the airport on Thursday. The time was 6:36. Her plane was supposed to arrive at 6:30. A lot of people passed by, but none of them were her. She might have been the last one off the plane, because no one came behind her. “Oh my GOSH! Aaahhh!” she said running towards me.

When she hugged me she was jumping, too.                                                                      

“I can’t believe you’re here!” I said.                                                                            

“I know!” she screamed.                                                                                         

 “Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Moreno. Hey, Danielle.”                                                           

 “Hello Jessica. Nice to have you here.” Mom said.                                                           

 “It’s really cold here. Who’s the cute guy?” Riley whispered. I walked towards Wes and introduced her.                                                                                              

“Wes this is Jessica,” she extended her hand and Wes shook her hand, “and Jessica this is my boyfriend, Wes.”                                                                           

“Your boyfriend?” Jessica asked.                                                                         

During the whole ride home I saw Jessica kind of look at Wes weirdly? “So…Wes right?” she asked.                                                                                              

“Yeah.” He said.                                                                                               

 “You’re actually dating Jaden?”                                                                              

 “Yeah,” he intertwined his fingers into mine. “we’re together and I love her.” He kissed me head.                                                                                                 

When we got home, Wes left after he helped with the luggage. “Wes, would you like to stay for dinner?”                                                                                             

“No thank you, Mrs. Moreno. I have some stuff to do. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow, Jaden and it was nice meeting you Jessica.” He gave me a kiss on my cheek.                   

“See you tomorrow.” I said.                                                                                   

“This is your house?” Jessica asked.                                                                  

“Yeah, it is.”                                                                                                             

“It looks huge.” She walked in and just stared. “Wow!”                                                  

“My room is upstairs.” Danielle said.                                                                    

 “Really? Show me.” Jessica and Danielle went upstairs.                                                   

 At lunch Wes kind of looked worried. “What’s wrong Wes?” I asked him.                    

“Jessica is kind of…forget about it.”                                                                              

“No no tell me.”                                                                                                 

“She’s kind of weird.”                                                                                     

 “What do you mean?”                                                                                              

“She keeps looking at me so weirdly.”                                                                          

“Yeah, I know. I see her too, but I don’t think it means anything. I’m just glad she’s here.”                                                                                                              

 “As long as you’re happy.” He said putting his arm around my shoulder. I intertwined my fingers in his. We walked together to science class.                               

 After art class Wes drove me home. “Do you want to go get a smoothie?” Wes asked, “It’s my treat.”                                                                                              

 “Sure. Do you mind bringing Jessica?” I asked him.                                                                  

He thought about this. “Fine.” He said giving up.                                                                                            

 “Thanks!” I gave him a quick kiss before going inside to get Jessica. I walked in and dropped my bag on my bed. “Jessica do you want to go buy a smoothie with Wes and me?” I asked her.                                                                                         

“Sure why not?”                                                                                            

“Great.” She got up and walked to the front door. “Mom I’m going to go get a smoothie with Wes and Jessica.” I screamed.                                                            

“Don’t take to long for dinner.”                                                                               

 “Okay.” I answered. I sat up front with Wes and Jessica sat in the back seats.                 

 “Do you live close Wes?”                                                                          

 “Umm…yeah I live a couple of streets down.”                                                          

“How do you like this place so far?” I asked.                                                                

“It’s really nice. Everything is close. It’s just really cold.”                                               

When we got to Planet Smoothie Wes said, “I’m going to go get our smoothies.” He walked in the store and waited in line for his turn.                                                        

“He is such a gentle man.” Jessica said.                                                                  

“Yeah, he is. What about you, are you dating anyone?”                                              

 “I was, but it didn’t work out.”                                                                              

“When did you start dating him?”                                                                           

“About when you were dating Justin. He didn’t really like me the way I liked him.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”                                                                                         

“Here are your smoothies.” Wes said.                                                                             

 I wanted to know who she was dating but I just didn’t know how.                                                                                      

“These are really good smoothies.” Jessica said taking another sip.                                        

 I took a sip, “I never knew that they sold good smoothies.”                                        

“Do you want to go see the stores around here?” Wes asked Jessica.                           

“Sure.”                                                                                                              

“I’ll be right back.” I said getting up and going to the restroom.                                        

As I looked at myself through the mirror, I kept thinking about the guy Jessica liked. I washed my hands and my curiosity grew bigger. I felt something bad about that guy. I felt like I knew him. I needed to know who he was. I was about to walk out to where they were sitting, but I froze when I saw Jessica slowly moving her hand towards Wes.                                                                                                      

“I can’t believe a guy like you is dating Jaden. I think you deserve better.” I heard Jessica say. Wes moved his hand away from Jessica.                                                   

“What’s wrong?” she said. He didn’t answer.                                                                      

I walked out, “Hey, what did I miss?” I asked pretending as if nothing happened. Jessica nor Wes said anything. Jessica just stared and suddenly her ears started to turn red.                                                                                                           

Then Wes leaned towards me and kissed me. I saw Jessica’s face start to blush. “I think we should go see the other stores.” She said getting up and ready to go.

When I got home I thought, Just a day of her arrival and already is she hitting on Wes.                                                                                                                      

 A day before her last day here, I heard her talk on the phone with someone in the drive way. “I miss you so much Justin.” I heard her say. “I couldn’t leave her like that. I already texted her that I was coming.” I think that she was arguing with Justin. Could it have been the Justin? “No, I haven’t told her about us and I don’t think she noticed that you were cheating on her with me.” She let out a big sigh. “She has a new life here and has a boyfriend. His name is Wes and he is cute. Not as cute as you though.” She said happily. “I gotta go. I left Jaden in her room. I’ll see you when I get back. I love you, bye Justin.” She hung up on him and she turned around. “Jaden,” she said.                                                                                   

“How could you?” I said loudly.                                                                                    

“It’s not what you think.” “I heard you tell Justin that he was cheating on me with you, my best friend. And now you want to hit on my boyfriend, Wes. No wonder Justin didn’t like me. You lied to me!”                                                                       

“No! I’m not hitting on Wes I’m just…”                                                                         

“Just what? Waiting for me to leave you alone with Wes to start over like you did with Justin? You knew I liked him, but I never knew that you were capable of doing that.”                                                                                                                  

“He came up to me.”                                                                                            

“Then why didn’t you stop him?” She didn’t answer.                                                 “That’s what I thought. You know what? I’m glad you’re leaving tomorrow.” I said with tears coming down my cheek.                                                                                

“No, Jaden wait!” I heard her call after me. I quickly walked into my room and covered myself with my covers. I didn’t want to know where she went. How could she do this to me? My best friend? Then I heard someone open my door.                      

“Jaden? Are you okay?” my mom said. I uncovered myself and looked at her. “Come here.” I moved closer to her and she hugged me. “Tell me what happened.” I told her everything and Mom just stayed silent. “You know there aren’t real friends that last, but luckily she’s leaving tomorrow. I don’t think her parents are going to be very happy. You think you’re okay?”                                                                          

 I nodded. “Thanks, Mom.” She hugged me again,                                                  

“Anything to cheer up my daughters. I think Wes can help you get over this. Do you mind if I call him?” I nodded.                                                                                

Later Wes came and helped me with this situation. “Your mom told me everything. I told you she was weird.”                                                                                             

He made me smile, “I know I should have listened to you, but I never would have thought she would do that and to you, too.” I started to cry again. He pulled me closer to his chest.                                                                                              

 “It’s okay.”                                                                                                            

At midnight after Jessica left, I saw Jessica with Justin together on a bench talking and then as I was walking towards them she popped up with Wes. They were kissing. Wes was crying for help but I just stood there with tears running down my cheeks. “You will never have them. They’re mine!” she said. She took a very sharp knife and shoved it through my chest. Wes was kneeling crying for me back. I saw a puddle of blood. She killed me!                                                                                       

I got up from my bed and noticed it was just a dream. I was in my room, alive. I was panting so hard I thought that I was going to wake someone up and was sweating a lot.                                                                                                                       

Then I felt someone next to me. “Wes…” I said. The window was open and I looked at it.                                                                                                                         

“I got in through the window. I hope you don’t mind.” Tears started to run down my cheek. “It’s alright. It was just a dream. I’m right here. I’m never going to leave you.” He sat next to me and hugged me close to his chest.

Heyy it"s me :) How did you guys like this chapter? Jessica is such a great friend, dont you think? But luckily Jaden has Wes to protect. *Sigh* Lovebirds!!!! Aren't they just cute!!? Well until next time my friends, well not really just until I post the next chapter..... :P
