Chapter 5

Chapter 5

I found Wes in the middle of the hallway. Now was my chance to get this over with and ask him why he said no at lunch. Its okay, I kept telling myself. "Wes." I whispered. He turned around, "I need to talk to you."

"Yeah."

"Why did you say no at lunch when Riley was there yesterday? I mean you're a really nice guy, I just don't know why you acted like that."

"I-its not that I don't want to be nice, its just that people see me differently."

The cellphone in science class. "Is that why you had a cellphone out on Monday in science?" He didn't say anything. "I just need to know. I care about..." I didn't finish what I was going to say. I cared about him? I just met him a couple of days ago.

"You don't need to know anything that is not your business." he whispered in my ear.

How-what-how could he say that? "What?! How-i-"

"I don't want you to get in trouble and ruin your life."

"No! I cant . What are you- I need to know!" I started pushing him away from me. He grabbed me by my waist making me closer to him. I tried to pull myself away, but he grabbed me so hard. "Let go of me!" I told him. He was holding me real tight. I started pushing and shoving, but I couldn't escape. "Let go-" he grabbed me by the arm even harder and pulled me close to his chest. He pushed his lips hard on mine.

When he pulled away my lips felt numb. "I'm sorry but that was the only way-"

I looked at him strangely, "umm...I got to go." I just looked at him and then walked to my class.

I walked into math class and was expected to have detention, but Mrs. Weiss just said, "Welcome take your seat."

"Wait you're not-" she was waiting for me to finish.

"Never mind." I walked to my seat and kept thinking about the kiss. Why is it meaning so much to me anyway?

The class passed by like a blur and so did art. I didn't even see Wes and didn't plan to. I concentrated well on my painting of fruit and I thought I did an excellent job.

After school, I walked home with Riley. Hey Riley, guess what? Wes kissed me on the lips! I wish it would have been that easy to say. I couldn't manage to tell her, not until I got this straight.

Instead I said, "Don't you have a track practice to go to?"

"As a matter of fact I don't. He doesn't have track today. He has practice tomorrow!" She said happily.

Luckily we were one block away from my house. "Hey, where are you going?" It took her a minute to register my question.

"To the park. Do you want to come?"

"Nah, thanks but I have to help unpack. I guess I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay, bye!" She said happily walking to the park.

I walked the rest of the block on my own. Stopped at the house in the corner down the street. I looked at it in front of me. The big mover truck was still in the driveway. I walked in and saw that there were at least 6 more boxes in my room than there were two days ago. My bed didn't even have its comforter yet, just the plain old mattress.

I threw my bag on the floor and jumped on my bed. I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples slowly trying to wash away all-.

I walked down next door to my sister's room, Danielle. "Danielle, what are you doing?"

"Just watching T.V." she stopped dancing and looked at me.

"Well, can you put the volume down please?"

"But I like this song." Big Time Rush was singing 'Big Night'. My parents let Danielle have a T.V in her room because she would have been complaining about how bored she would be. "Okay." She finally said putting the volume of the music video down.

"Thank you." I told her. I walked back to my room focusing on the one thing, the kiss. How could he kiss me just like that as if that were to mean nothing? But why did it have so much meaning to me?

I distracted myself by looking out the window. The view was pretty nice. Then I saw two little boys playing tag in the backyard behind us. One of the two boys was carrying a water gun in his hand while the other boy was running away from him. A girl about my age was sitting on the steps of their patio texting on her phone.

I got my cellphone out and scrolled through my contacts. Home. No. Dad. No. Riley. No. Natasha. No. Jessica. Yes. I still had her number, but she might be at soccer practice. Hey Jessica I miss U! I pressed the send button. Message sent. I waited 5 minutes at the most and still hadn't had a response. Another 2 minutes passed in silence. Nothing. She still hadn't answered so I got kind of frustrated and called her intsead. No answer. "Jaden, dinners ready!" "Coming!" I said.
