Glasses: Shadow
Following on from 'Glasses'.
You are still a (A/T)
Do I really have to wear my glasses?
The bell rang loudly and sharply causing (Y/N) to wince slightly as the sound didn't help her headache. The third lesson of the day, History, had just ended and (Y/N) was seriously considering actually wearing her glasses.
As it was a major pain that she couldn't see and she was straining her eyes giving her a massive headache. But (Y/N) was as stubborn as they came.
So giving a sigh she stood up and headed to her forth lesson which was English. But that was easier said than done.
"Hey watch where you going!"
"I'm really sorry for bumping into you!"
"Don't worry about it, it's fine honestly."
"Hey! You there watch out for that-
Too late, despite the strangers warning (Y/N) walked right into the wall.
"Ow..." She muttered rubbing her sore head.
How many people did I bump into on my way here? I think it was about five...
Already done with the day (Y/N) wished for time to go faster as she waited for the teacher to let the students into the classroom.
"Alright class in you come!" The English teacher called.
(Y/N) cautiously stepped in, tried her best to avoid tripping on any table or chair legs, and was thankful to make it to her seat in one piece.
One of the chairs scraped against the floor as a student took a seat on the same table. But (Y/N) could tell it was Shadow by the black silhouette with red stripes visible through her dodgy eyes.
"Hi Shadow, are you alright?" She asked politely.
"Why aren't you wearing your contact lenses today?" He asked bluntly.
"W-what!? How do you know I wear contact lenses!?" She asked agape.
"It's not hard to tell, plus any idiot could tell there was something wrong with your sight with the way you've been tripping up most of the day." He stated.
(Y/N) couldn't see his expression but she could imagine it being blank as usual. When in actual fact it was only because he'd figured out she couldn't see very well that he expressed a small amount of anger in his expression. As he wanted to know why his friend flinched when ever the bell rang, why she was bumping into walls and why her face was covered in small scratches.
"If I tell you why I'm such a clutz today can you promise not to laugh or tell anyone?" She asked timidly.
"Of course I won't, you know I don't partake in gossip." He promised.
"Well I may or may not have stepped on my contact lenses this morning, and I have a pair of glasses but I don't like wearing them. So I've resolved to being blind for the day." She explained in shame focussing on the blob of a table.
"And how is that working out for you?" He remarked, annoyed that (Y/N) had been so idiotic.
"Umm not very well..."
"You should wear your glasses." He tried to convince her.
"Well I don't want to." She whined like a child.
Shadow would have continued to try and get her to wear her glasses but-
"Sorry I'm late Miss!"
"Sonic the Hedgehog do not interrupt my class like that! Especially as you have come five minutes late!" The teacher bellowed at Sonic who had just ran in.
"Sorry Miss!" He apologised again.
The class snickered at him as he walked to the table he sat at with (Y/N) and Shadow, unfazed by his scolding off the teacher.
But then things got a little tricky for (Y/N) when the teacher started the lesson. The teacher set a question on the bored, but she only read it out once and said there was to be utter silence when answering. So (Y/N) was a bit stuffed.
Her new resolve was to just stare at the desk, but she slowly grew more nervous as she wasn't getting any work done. And Shadow lightly tapping the desk constantly wasn't helping.
The minutes kept ticking by and the irritable tapping would stop but slowly (Y/N) picked out a pattern. Understanding what the various taps meant (Y/N) was finally able to answer the question knowing what it was.
You see (Y/N) and Shadow were both in a GUN training scheme, when they learnt earlier on how to be qualified agents. And one part of their training was morse code, which Shadow had just used to tap out the question for (Y/N).
The lesson passed successfully and (Y/N) was able to hand a completed question to the teacher. Sonic ran off to the lunch hall straight away leaving Shadow and (Y/N) walking at a normal pace.
"Thank you." She said.
Shadow wasn't for soppy 'thank you's', he knew how he had helped so she didn't need to give him specifics.
"Your welcome, but that situation could have been avoided." He said.
She gave a sigh, he was always the practical one. And him bring the practical one he didn't stop helping her.
When they were the line to by food from the cafeteria he quietly told her how the sandwiches were laid out so that she could choose one she liked.
"Thank you." She said as they walked to the table the others see sat.
And then when she slipped on some milk and he caught her by the arm helping her stay up right.
"Thanks." She said a little breathlessly.
Lunch went by fine, well except for Shadow nearly punching Sonic for trying to pick a fight. When the bell went everyone went to registration, during which Amy once again tried to convince (Y/N) to wear her glasses. But she once again refused. The way she saw it she might as well make it through the rest of the day without wearing them.
And then came lesson five, which was maths. So another game commenced of 'try and no walk into people or walls' on the way to class. Then to her utter relief in class the teacher read out every question, meaning (Y/N) could actually participate in the lesson.
The final bell rang signalling the end of the day and the students sprinted out of the classrooms. (Y/N) would have done likewise but she hung back a little so her only enemies would be the tables and chairs.
"It's about time you came out." A voice greeted her when she left the classroom.
"Were you waiting for me Shadow?" (Y/N) knowing it was him.
"Well seeming though you can hardly walk in a straight line I took a wild guess assuming you might find it difficult to catch your bus." He said bluntly.
"Thank you Shadow."
His reply was to start walking. Making it to the bus hay they waited for (Y/N)'s 's bus to arrive, and when it eventually did, let's just say if Shadow hadn't been there she might have been the decoration on a bus windscreen. Also if he hadn't of been there (Y/N) would have presented her coffee card again to the bus driver.
The pair sat next to each other but as they rode the journey in silence, but (Y/N) slowly became worried that she had seriously annoyed Shadow. He'd been helping her out all day and yes she said thank you, but she hadn't said sorry for causing him all this trouble.
The bus came up to her stop but she was surprised when Shadow got off with her.
"Hey I think I can make it home now, I'll be fine I promise." She tried to convince him.
"Says the girl who still can't see, besides my house isn't too far from yours." He stated.
Okay now she was sure that she had annoyed him.
"Shadow I'm sorry if I've annoyed you today, I know I kept saying thank you but I haven't said sorry for inconveniencing you. So I'm sorry that I troubled you and if I made you angry." She said in one go.
"Your such an idiot." He mumbled.
"I'm sor-
"Put those glasses on right now so you can see me." He ordered her gently.
Doing as he said she dug them outside was surprised to see Shadow's expression. It was a mixture of concern and annoyance.
"First of all your an idiot for thinking that I would see helping you as an inconvenience, and second you have made me angry by the fact you'd do something that stupid. Don't even try to deny that your head is throbbing from your headache and scratches, and you could have quiet easily have been run over if I wasn't there." He started.
She stared awkwardly at the ground in a bit of shame.
"But the point is I was there because I wanted to be, so I was happy to help you. However I personally can't see the problem with your glasses as in my opinion they suit you." He finished.
But at that last line he appeared to be hiding a small blush.
"Y-you think they suit me?" She stuttered pushing the frame back.
"Yes, which makes you even more irrational, so come on." He said starting to walk.
"Come on where?" She asked walking next to him.
"We're going to go to your house so you can copy up all the notes I wrote for you today." He stated.
(Y/N) was taken aback a little about how much he had done got her today, so bring the girl she was tackled him into a big bear hug to show her appreciation.
"Thanks Shadow!"
