Silver x reader: School Trip

You are a (A/T)

Admit it, whenever you went on a school trip you were just glad to miss a day of school.

The coach was packed. The 'cool' kids at the back had barely sat down at the back before they started blaring music from their phones, and the teachers at the front were failing to get everyone to quiet down.

Yep, this was a school trip.

Or rather a college trip, as all the students were taking their A-levels. And all the students on this bus were either art or photography students. (Y/N) was one of these students, happily sat near the front of the bus.

"Would you lot please quiet down so I can take a register!" Mr Hanson the art teacher yelled at the front of the coach.

The students voices settled down a little and the teacher took the register.

"Casey the Minx?"

"Here!"

"James the Fox?"

"Here sir!"

"(Y/N) the (A/T)?"

"Here."

The teacher continued and when the register was done looked at all the seats.

"Has anyone seen Silver the Hedgehog?"

"Here sir! Sorry sir!" a white hedgehog yelled running onto the coach.

"Just sit down." the teacher responded.

Not wanting to further embarrass himself Silver quickly sat down in the nearest spare seat which was next to a certain (A/T).

"Hi." he greeted her still a little out of breath from running to catch the coach.

"Hi..." she greeted back awkwardly.

The coach engine then roared to life as it started to head down the road and out of the college car park.

"Ummm, (Y/N) isn't it?" Silver asked wanting to start a conversation.

"Yes that's right, but I don't really need to guess your name." she said back.

"Heh, guess you don't." he smiled sheepishly.

(Y/N) didn't say it, but she would have known his name regardless if had or hadn't been late as she had labelled him as one of the 'popular guys'. And another thing she wouldn't say was that she was surprised he even knew her name.

"Uh I'm sorry you got stuck sitting next to me." Silver apologised.

"I think that should be my line." she mumbled.

Another thing about him being labelled a 'popular guy' was that she instantly thought him to be ignorant or big headed.

"What do you mean?" he asked dumbfounded.

She thought he was a good actor to pull that kind of expression off.

"Don't tell me you haven't heard the usual names? Freak, weirdo, any of these ringing a bell?" she asked.

"Nope." he said shaking his head.

He's a good actor, she thought to herself.

"Why do people call you those names?" he asked looking concerned.

"Yes and so what? And why are you so desperate to have a conversation?" she asked back irritated.

"Why are you so desperate to not have a conversation?" he smiled back.

She just gave a large huff before looking back out the window. But Silver couldn't stand the silence for long.

"Hey... I didn't mean to annoy you." he slowly apologised.

(Y/N) gave a small glance at him and finally decided that he hadn't been acting and that he had genuinely just wanted to make conversation.

"You didn't, it's just... I don't like talking to people that much as I don't have much practise. I prefer to stay quiet and not make a idiot of myself." she timidly confessed.

"Well I don't think your making an idiot of yourself right now." he reasuured her.

She was lost for an answer.

"So what are you planning to do at the gallery?" Silver asked giving another conversation starter.

The trip was to the national gallery to find inspiration for the next project.

"I'm going to take photos of paintings and the interior so I can edit them into something else using Photoshop." (Y/N) explained.

She was a photography student and Silver was an Art student, very similar yet different courses.

"What are you planning to do?" she asked back.

"I've brought my sketch pad with me so I'll do sketches of things I like, and then I'll annotate them later." he took his turn to explain.

During the couple of hours that the coach journey took the two conversed purely about college and their planned projects, as they didn't seem to have much more in common.

When the coach did pull up outside the gallery the students flooded out with the teachers yelling after them to stay in pairs or groups. (Y/N) tried to walk off on her own and enjoy the gallery to herself but grew annoyed when she saw Silver walking by her side down the marbel corridors.

"Why are you following me?" she asked facing him.

"I didn't want you to be lonely and besides the teachers said we had to at least stay in pairs." he replied happily.

"I'm perfectly fine on my own." she huffed.

"What if you get into trouble and there's no one to help you?" he argued.

"I'll stay in rooms full of people."

"And what if none of them help you?"

She stopped in her path and looked directly at him making eye contact. He waited nervously for her to speak but she just gave a sigh and gazed at the floor.

"I... I have really bad social anxiety, I don't like talking or being around lots of people." she confessed slowly.

This actually didn't surprise Silver all that much, he knew (Y/N) even before this trip. He knew she rarely spoke to people, and that she often had to work in classrooms on her own but he never knew why.

To hear it was a mental condition made things a lot clearer for him.

"So what? I don't mind, trust me a few years ago I was ignorant of people's feeling when talking to them." he confessed.

"Really you? The one who's a fan with the ladies?" she asked back.

"Yes, me. Now are we going to go around this gallery or not?" he asked carrying on walking.

He was glad when (Y/N) joined him and didn't ask to alone again, so they started to take photos and sketch. And even though (Y/N) was mainly quiet he could tell that she was enjoying herself.

He had just finished one of his many sketches and went up to (Y/N) to see if she was ready to go to the next hall, but she was just stood there holding up her camera looking through the screen.

"(Y/N)?" he asked trying to get her attention.

"Hang on a second."

"What are you doing?"

"I'm taking a photo but the shutter speed is longer so it captures more movement." she explained.

A couple of seconds later she put down her camera and showed him the picture, there was the hall they were stood in but the people how had been walking around were a blur, their movements captured.

"Hey that's really cool! I didn't know you could do all that with a camera!" he exclaimed.

"There seems to be an awful lot you don't know." she huffed.

"Well sometimes you don't find stuff out unless people tell you." he smirked back.

"Okay smarty pants, let's play 20 questions and learn all about each others lives (!)"

"Okay." he accepted.

"I was joking."

"I wasn't."

In an attempt to get her to play Silver kept asking her questions until she gave in and started to answer them, but she got her own back when she asked him some embarrassing questions. But it was more embarrassing for her when he answered them straight away.

"You are one weird hedgehog Silver." (Y/N) sighed as they left the gallery and headed back to the coach.

"Yeah, I get that a lot."

But secretly (Y/N) was surprised that Silver had put up with her all day, she knew she could be rude and snappy but that was second nature to her to drive people away. And then came along this fool who didn't know when to quit.

Once on the coach the pair occupied their time looking through the sketches and pictures they had collected, but the teachers voice snapped them both back to reality.

"There's been an accident on the motorway so we most likely wont be back until late! If you can call your parents and relatives to let them know!"

"Great(!)" (Y/N) mumbled.

"What's the matter? Do you want to use my phone to contact your parents?" Silver offered.

"No it's not that I just hate being stuck in traffic, especially with the choir back there." (Y/N) said referring to the girls' awful singing at the back of the coach.

Silver craned his neck to look at the back and gave an expression which criticised their singing skills.

Minutes turned into hours as the traffic refused move, phone batteries died, the girls stopped singing, many gave up and just decided to sleep. Silver stared in boredom at the un-moving traffic, but jumped when he felt a weight on his shoulder.

His face turned into the definition of a tomato when he saw (Y/N) fast asleep using his shoulder as a pillow. What felt like hours but was only seconds he stayed still trying his best not to move, knowing that if she woke up know she'd probably go mental.

But with nothing to do he found himself looking at her sleeping face, not being able to stop himself thinking she was cute. However he failed to realise his own eyes becoming tired and slowly he too fell asleep his head resting on top of hers.

So, shhhh..... don't wake the cute little love birds.

Sorry I took so long to publish this week and I'm sorry if it sucks, currently facing serious writer block.
