"Sonic we've got a problem!"

Jumping at Tails' sudden entrance Sonic fell on the floor off the sofa on which he had previously been napping on.

"Geez Tails! Can't a guy take a nap around here?" Sonic grumbled rubbing his sore head.

"Not when we've got a problem as big as this!"

Puling Sonic up Tails then dragged him into the workshop, where Sonic was quick to figure out the situation. When he saw Classic Tails stood there.

"Classic Tails?" he asked agape.

"Hi there Sonic!" he beamed with a small wave.

"Wh- what are you doing here? Again?"

"There was a rift in time again." Tails stated.

"Was it Eggman?"

"No I don't think so, as back in the past Classic Sonic was trying to use one of the Chaos Emeralds and he accidentally opened a portal. He got curious and went in so I of course had to follow him." Classic Tails explained.

"Which means we should be able to send them both back if we can use a Chaos Emerald." Tails added.

"So all we need to do is get a Chaos Emerald and- wait. Where's Classic?" Sonic asked.

Classic Tails' expression turned sheepish.

"I lost him when we went through the portal..." he admitted messing with his hands "But I remembered the workshop from last time so came here to get some help. The futures very different to the past."

"Okay, so basically, our classic selves have come back to the future. But it's an easy fix to send them back. But my classic self is goodness knows where."

"Yeah you summed it up pretty well. See why I was so rushed now?"

"Yeah, yeah. Now come on, we need to find him before anything happens!" Sonic urged.

"Why are you panicking? Classic was able to take care of himself pretty well last time." Tails shrugged.

"He's right, Classic is more than able to take care of himself. Although he can't break the sound barrier yet." Classic Tails agreed.

"Yeah and last time all of time was nearly messed up and I don't want to have to deal with that monster of a task again!" Sonic said in a rush dashing off.

Classic Tails who had been caught in the dust of Sonic taking off gave a couple cute coughs.

"Seems even in the future he still does that."

"Yep and you never get used to it." Tails gave a half smile "Come on we'd better catch up to him, lets take the Tornado.

~Meanwhile~

"Lolbit! Stop flying off!"

"Chao!"

Yelling at her Chao (Y/N) was able to just catch the troublesome thing before she tried to dash into another berry bush.

"You've had enough berries for today!"

"Chao!"

"No! No more!"

Although it was a slight struggle (Y/N) was able to keep a grip on her berry addicted pet. Lolbit, whom was named after the extra character from Five Night's at Freddy's: Sister Location due to her pink and orange tipped limbs with white fur, was making (Y/N) life difficult at the moment.

What she had hoped to be a 'healthy walk' to get away from her computer screen for a few hours, had turned into an annoying match of berry snatching. Lolbit snatching them from the bushes and (Y/N) snatching them from Lolbit.

"Honestly, you're going to be the death of me...." she sighed.

But both their attentions were taken by one of the bushes rustling.

Oh great, I bet that's another woodland creature annoyed their berries have been stolen, either that or some berry monster... But (Y/N) was in for a surprise when a small blue figure jumped out of the bush!

Initially backing away she was quick to become confused when the hedgehog who had jumped out of the bush, looked like a younger version of Sonic.

"Sonic?"

At the sight of such a friendly face with a Chao perched on her shoulder the young thing jumped at her locking her legs in a hug, his eyes shut tight and shaking ever so slightly.

"Hey, are you okay?" she asked gently, lightly hugging back.

Unaware that he was clinging onto her due to the fact he was scared of the dark. A fear he would eventually out grow, but at the moment the trauma hadn't passed. But when one runs through a portal and finds themselves in complete darkness being poked and pricked by brambles, mistakes berry juice for blood, you were bound to be shaken up.

Giving a small smile she kept to the rule that whenever a child hugs you first, never be the first to pull away.

After a few more seconds he pulled away with a slightly sheepish expression.

"Are you okay now?" she asked kneeling to his height.

He gave a nod.

"So are you Sonic?"

He gave a nod again.

So Sonic is young? A kid even. Did Tails mess up an experiment again? She considered. Either way she'd have to look after the little guy as he was obviously lost and shaken up.

But in all honesty, (Y/N) was secretly pleased that what appeared to be a young Sonic hadn't hesitated to look to her for comfort, as the older Sonic she knew was always nervous and edgy around her.Often exchanging only a few quick words with her, despite her best attempts to keep conversations.

Yet with everyone else he was his usual cocky goofball self. And she had yet to find out why she was such a different case. Looks like it was a reason before he got older.

"Well I'm (Y/N), would you like me to help you find Tails?"

Classic Sonic nodded rapidly at the mention of his friend.

"Okay then, he's got a workshop in Station square, although its a bit of walk from the Green Hill zone we'll get there. With a bit of luck Tails should be there."

Nodding happily Classic followed (Y/N)'s lead as they headed towards the Green Hill Zone.

At that time both modern and Classic Tails were in the Tornado following Sonic run about the entirety of Mobius.

"He's running about a lot faster than last time." Classic Tails observed from the passenger seat.

"Yeah I noticed that too, he's really spooked this time. But last time he had more faith in his younger self."

"Well has anything changed since the last time we came to the future?"

"Not much, Eggman's kept on attacking, we got a new member to the team (Y/N) and Silver's come back from the future a couple more times. Other than that know. I guess Sonic's just a little worried with all the time traveling going on at the moment."

"Yeah that's sounds like the case."

Classic Tails would have liked to ask more questions to his future self but was already smart enough to know that wouldn't help his future in any way, deciding to let time take its course.

"Sonic's headed to Green Hill zone now." Classic pointed.

"Okay then , lets follow him."

Swinging the plain around they carried on following Sonic. However in the opposite direction (Y/N) and Classic had made it to Station Square.

"So how did you end up being turned young Sonic?" (Y/N) asked as they walked down the town.

He gave her a confused expression not knowing what she meant as he was actually from the past.

"You probably don't understand do you? Sorry."

It was then that two caught onto a loud sound coming from Classic's stomach.

"Are you hungry?"

He gave a sheepish nod holding his stomach.

"Come on then, there's a chilli dog stand near by."

Classic's eyes lit up at the mention of his favorite food. Soon enough (Y/N) had the little thing filling his stomach. As he ate though he looked up at (Y/N) with odd expression, suace all around his mouth.

"What?"

He continued to look at her with a questioning expression.

"I suppose you don't recognize me if you're younger, I only joined the team this year, you seemed rather eager for me to join though."

Classic tilted his head confused at being told events that would eventually happen.

"There he is!"

Both heads snapped towards the chorus of voices and there stood Sonic, Tails and Classic Tails.

"Sonic!?" she looked at classic and then modern officially confused to the moon and back "What's going on?"

Sonic himself was just as uneasy as (Y/N) due to the fact his younger self was with her. The exact thing he had been wanting to avoid. For reasons he kept a secret Sonic was always nervous and shy around (Y/N), although he was able to brush it off and hide it most of the time.

So the fact his younger self had spent this much time with someone he could barely stutter a sentence to, was his idea of a complete failure in his books.

At the sight of his older self Classic gave Sonic a quick wave with a smile.

"Don't panic (Y/N), there's a simple explanation." Tails was quick to reassure her.

Tails then provided a quick explanation of their encounter with time eater and how both Tails and Sonic's classic selves had come to the future again.

"Well that makes more sense than my theory that Tails made some machine that made you young again." (Y/N) confessed.

"Like I would make a machine like that." Tails sighed.

"Hey, you can't blame me. It was the best thing I could think of." she shrugged.

After the situation was explained, and a chaos emerald was found, it wasn't long until both classics were thankfully sent back to their time.

"You were really cute when you were younger." she teased afterwards.

"A-and what do you mean by that!?" Sonic asked avoiding eye contact fumbling with his hands.

"Nothing, you were cute. And you weren't as shy."

"What shy!? I'm not shy! How do we know that you're not the ones who shy!?" he stuttered, blushing madly crossing his arms stubbornly.

"You're shy Sonic the hedgehog, but hopefully I'll get a few more words out of you in the future. Maybe I should ask Silver on what happens next."

"Don't you dare!"

"You're so easy to tease Sonic." she chuckled.

~Meanwhile~

After coming through the portal and landing back in their time zone both classics immediately felt at home. And Tails was instantly curious about Sonic's adventure.

"So who was the girl you were with?"

A blush springing to his muzzle Classic started to dash away.

"Hey Sonic!" Tails whined flying after him "Come on I was just asking!"

Classic had been scared for the first few moments in the future that he had wanted comfort from the nearest person and (Y/N) had been there. But this was the start of something that would carry on until he was older, and until a new member joined the team.

"The reason I'm always so shy around you is because of when I went to the future that second time. And from that moment I wanted to do nothing more than find you again and return the favor of how you helped me. But I could never muster the courage to tell you how I felt."
