Spell Miss-Hap: Shadow
Following on from 'Spell Miss-Hap'.
You are a (A/T)
What's the most troublesome you can think of?
Let's see, a pumpkin, fake snakes, cotton cobwebs and plastic spiders. I'm going to have fun with all this, (Y/N) thought to herself.
When Amy's house was a haunted horror land of sorts (Y/N) knew she'd have to go home in case she received a call. But Amy couldn't let her leave without some decorations for her own house. After all she had said how she wanted to celebrate Halloween for once.
(Y/N) happily excepted all the Halloween treats hauling the large box she had home. Making it back to her house she put the box down in her coffee table, and she would have started to decorate her place if her phone hadn't gone off.
Taking it from her pocket she saw she'd got a text from Shadow.
I've got a new file for you, I'll drop it off in an hour.
Okay, I'm at home, she replied.
Giving a sigh she then lazily threw her phone on the table.
(Y/N) was a GUN agent of sorts, but she wasn't a field agent. She worked as a code decipher, any encrypted codes or secretive messages GUN sent her the codes and she had to figure them out. Binary, morse, even old codes such as the enigma code, she could translate them all.
She even used all her knowledge to decipher brand new codes developed in recent years. Sometimes she would have to decipher codes in a matter of minutes, but considering Shadow was dropping a file off the translations wouldn't be needed until tomorrow at the earliest.
And the reason it was Shadow dropping off the file was because the pair worked close together in their areas, as usually the codes she translated were from his missions. Plus at the moment she was trying to teach Shadow the basics for code deciphering so he could do it on missions.
Although though Shadow would never admit it out loud he knew he'd never be good as (Y/N) with codes.
"I'd have liked to do some decorating, but oh well." she mumbled to herself.
But as she'd be teaching Shadow more codes she didn't mind too much. Walking through to her study she was going to dig out various tables and charts which would help her decipher all sorts of codes, when all of sudden, she felt very... odd.
It was a weird sensation, it didn't hurt but then it didn't feel right either. She felt fuzzy all over and grew hot rapidly and before she even had the chance to panic a bright white flash came from no where! In an instant all she could see was white...
***************
"Owwwww...."
Fully aware that she had just been unconscious (Y/N) lazily opened her eyes seeing that she was still in her study, but now her head hurt and she still had no idea what that bright light had been.
"What was that all about?" she asked herself sitting up and rubbing her head.
Wait... why does my voice sound so high pitched? She wondered.
Standing up she felt as though something was off, her limbs felt shorter and everything seemed slightly bigger.
"Oh no..."
Sprinting out of her study she ran up the stairs and into her bathroom, but by the time she had to stand on the edge of the bath simply to look in the mirror, she already knew.
She had some how become a kid again.
"How on Mobius did this happen!?" she screeched.
Hopping off the bath edge she started to panic.
"How and why have I become a kid again!? That must have been what that bright light was! But How!?" she continuously asked.
However she was quick to remember another problem, Shadow. Running back down stairs she saw that she must have been passed out for a while, meaning Shadow would be here soon!
"I can't let him see me like this!"
It was no secret that the two were close, in fact unknown to them GUN agents were always placing bets on how long it would be until they got together. But (Y/N) refused to let him see her as a kid!
With that she tried to find a spot to hide, not being able to think of any other solution. But her search was cut short with a brisk:
*KNOCK!* *KNOCK!* *KNOCK!*
As a last resort she ran from her living room accidentally knocking over the box of decorations she had brought home before scuttling under her study desk hoping he would go away.
"(Y/N), I know your in there." she heard him say from outside.
She stayed quiet. Shadow though gave a sigh from outside and felt no guilt letting himself in, looking around he saw the toppled box of decorations thinking it odd as (Y/N) was a neat freak.
"(Y/N)!" he called.
Putting the file he brought on the coffee table he started to look around.
I know she wanted to celebrate Halloween this year, but she better not be planning to pull some sort of prank, he thought looking around the house.
All the while (Y/N) stayed quiet under her desk, and her heart skipped a beat when Shadow entered the room. He knew she'd be in here, and this was confirmed when a small rustle could be heard underneath the desk.
In one swift movement Shadow had reached underneath the desk and grabbed (Y/N) from the desk, but in a instinctive reaction she thrashed around accidentally kicking Shadow on the nose!
"What the hell (Y/N)?!" Shadow snapped when he saw his nose was now bleeding.
But he was quick to dismiss his bleeding nose when he saw (Y/N). Once pulled form under the desk she had stumbled back onto her feet and now stared at the floor her muzzle tinged pink.
"Don't you dare laugh." she warned, but because of her young voice it had little effect.
"What on Mobius happened to you?" he asked not knowing what else to say.
"I don't know!" she whined childishly.
And she grew more agitated when Shadow gave a couple of coughs quite clearly trying to cover at the fact that he was stifling a laugh.
"It's not funny!" she whined again.
"I'm sorry, but I find it rather amusing." he semi apologized chocking a little on his breath as he gave a small laugh.
Mumbling swear words under her breath she turned her back on him walking in the sitting room, she spotted the file and after awkwardly getting onto the sofa began to read it.
"What are you doing?" Shadow asked walking into the room.
"My job."
"Well technically its illegal for someone your age to work." he teased.
"Shut up!" she snapped.
"So your not interested in finding out why you've ended up like this?"
"Of course I am! But I'm guessing you need this code for tomorrow at the earliest, so I'll do this first." she stated.
"Give me that file and I'll send a message for another decoder to sort it out." he said reaching for the file.
"No!" she argued lifting the file above her head.
"(Y/N) give it here!"
She scuttled off the sofa and Shadow started to chase her, one advantage of being a kid was she slip under tables and chairs with ease.
"Give me that file!" Shadow demanded as she hid behind the sofa.
"No!"
"Why are kids so troublesome...." she heard him mumble.
But that's when she figured out why she was a kid again,'So be prepared and be scared for oncoming trouble'.
That spell couldn't really have worked, could it?
She snapped back into reality when the sofa was pulled away, she gave a tiny yelp as he made a grab for the file.
"Let it go (Y/N)." he grumbled.
"No!" she protested refusing to let go.
But her grip slipped and the file went flying, papers scattering all over the room!
"Your fault...." she slowly teased.
He gave a low growl no longer seeing the funny side to her change in age, before he started to pick up the pieces of the paper. (Y/N) started to help starting to read them again and Shadow would have complained again, if he hadn't been cut off by a little tummy growling.
She was quick to divert her gaze.
"Hungry?"
"Maybe."
Being a kid and all the running around she had done earlier meant her tummy needed filling a lot sooner than usual. Without a word he went into the kitchen he started to look through the cupboards, seeming though he knew (Y/N)'s house as well as his own.
"When was the last time you went shopping?" he asked not seeing much.
"I was going to go shopping tomorrow. But there's some cream cheese in the fridge and some pasta in the cupboard." she answered.
"Which cupboard?"
"That one."
"Which one?"
"That one!"
Eventually after a lot of pointing and directions Shadow found the pasta and started to cook it, but (Y/N) had to supervise.
"You need to reduce the heat of the stove."
"No I don't."
"Yes you do!" she nagged.
"(Y/N) I think I know what I'm doing." he sighed.
"No you don't." she persisted.
Giving another sigh he turned back to the stove taking her annoying attitude for her change in age, it was probably her regressing and she couldn't help it.
"You need, to reduce the heat!" she yelled.
But as she did she made a grab for his tail. Jumping at the sudden contact Shadow lost his footing and sent the pan flying!
It was a root reflex to cover (Y/N) as the boiling hot pan fell with a loud *CLANG!*.
"Are you alright?" he asked straight away.
"Yeah..." she nodded.
And at that one word he couldn't control the fact that all his worry quickly turned into anger.
"What the hell did you think you were doing!?" he snapped.
"I'm sorry." she apologized straight away her ears dropping.
Knowing she meant it he just gave a large sigh, and then giving her hair a small ruffle.
"I'll sort this you go wait in the sitting room or something." he said in a kinder tone.
Doing as he suggested she went into the sitting room and climbing onto the sofa again she picked up the file and began to read, but her eyes slowly got heavier. Giving a large yawn she realised that another downside of being young again was that she needed more sleep.
So even though she new it was a loosing fight she still tried to stay awake, but she of course eventually fell asleep file in hand.
When Shadow walked into the room about to tell her that he'd cleaned everything up he wasn't too surprised to see her slumped over a little dreaming away. With no one to witness it he gave a rare tiny smile, before picking up her figure like farther carrying her upstairs.
Making it to her room he tucked her up in a bed that was now far to big for her. However as he turned to leave, about to shut the door, a bright flash came from her room!
In a panic he quickly looked back her but gave a sigh of relief, when seeing that she had someone how become her previous age. But he couldn't help but think to himself:
It doesn't matter to me what age she is, she's always been beautiful to me.
So with that thought he turned to leave, however he failed to spot the black cat perched on the window sill outside. It gave a small meow before jumping to the ground, leaving the little (A/T) sleeping safe and sound.
