chapter 25
I was on my way back home when a message popped up on my phone, clicking on WhatsApp to see who it was, I scrunched my brows after realizing it was an unknown person. I replied the greetings and made the person introduce his or herself and anger twisted in me.
Zayn.
Why would he message me with his new number? I hissed before returning my phone to my pocket and headed home.
Juliana and Crystal were no where to be found when I entered our room and I wondered where they could be, I was pulling off my clothes when another message entered my phone, believing it was Zayn, I ignored it and changed into a casual wear before jumping on my bed.
Another message entered and I decided to take a look at it so far I was less busy. It was an unknown number again and I hissed before reading the message, my eyes popped up when I realized it was Ziba. Crystal will surely get it from me and fortunately for her, she strolled into the room at that moment.
"Why did you give Ziba my number?" I attacked and she shrugged.
"You're back," she stated matter-of-factly.
"I asked you a question."
She sat on her bed before responding, "He kept on pestering me about it."
I scoffed, "And you decided to give him without my permission?"
She raised her shoulders nonchalantly and the act got me riled up.
"You don't even know this guy and you're already warming up to him, letting him in and doing things that shouldn't be done," I snapped and she squeezed her brows.
"But you entered his car," she fired back and I ran my hand through my braids.
"Is that it?" I asked incredulously and she shook her head.
"FYI, I've known Ziba for some time now, and no, we aren't strangers but good neighbors and I'm sorry I gave him your number, he just kept pestering me about it and I believed you also plan to get a boyfriend at the tutorial too," she retorted.
"And did I tell you I needed a boyfriend at the tutorial?"
She shrugged, "You need one at home then," I felt a hint of mockery undertone and I scrunched up my face.
"What do you mean?"
She smirked, "I know you like Tise, it's so obvious."
I scoffed, "You're mistaken."
She rolled her eyes, "You can never admit it," then she picked up her phone indicating end of discussion.
I turned back to my phone and pondered on what she said. Do I actually like Tise? I was still thinking about it when Juliana and Tumi sauntered into the room.
"I need your help," Tumi started and I nodded.
"Sure," I slid my legs into my slippers and followed her to her room. After helping her with the assignment, she made me tutor her on some topics until I realized it was getting late.
"I need to go prepare dinner, we'll continue tomorrow," I rose to my feet and she stretched.
"I have a shoot tomorrow."
"When you're less busy then," and I walked out of the room headed to my room. I only met Juliana in the room folding her clothes.
"What of Crystal?"
"She's helping in the kitchen," Juliana replied as I sat on my bed.
"Okay."
"How is Kike?"
I shrugged,"Just a little bit difference, I hope she gets over him."
"Yeah and I believe she learned her lesson."
I pursed my lips, "Maybe, can you believe Zayn chatted me up today?"
Her face lit up curiously, "Really? Why?"
"He wants me to know he changed his number."
She hissed, "And how is that your concern?" she got on her feet with her clothes and arranged them in the wardrobe while I messaged Tise asking for what he would like for dinner but he didn't reply.
Crystal soon walked into the room looking cheerful and I shared a questioning look with Juliana.
"Why do you look happy?" Juliana inquired and a smile spread across Crystal's face.
"I've been accepted to audition for a role in Tise's new web series," she announced and we all screamed before remembering it was only an audition and she hasn't been accepted for the role yet.
"It's just an audition," Juliana pointed out and Crystal nodded.
"Yeah," then she turned to me, "And that's why I want you to put in a good word for me."
"Me?" I pointed at my chest in bewilderment and she nodded.
"Yes, you're closer to Tise than any one here," she stated and I scoffed.
"That doesn't mean he'll consider you because of that also he's just the scriptwriter not the the producer or director," I reasoned and she waved her hand.
"So? He's going to be there during the audition."
I shook my head, "I doubt that."
She wanted to reply but Juliana beat her to it, "Just do your best, it's a monolgue right? So, just be fully prepared and don't depend on anyone."
"I agree, we'll help you with it," I told her and she nodded.
"But don't you think you have exams to tackle?" Juliana reasoned and Crystal chuckled.
"It can't stop me, we'll have finished the exam before they start shooting the movie."
"Better," Juliana and I replied simultaneously before laughing.
After waiting for over thirty minutes without any response from Tise not like he would actually state what he wanted before so I decided to prepare Yam and stew though I was worried about him not replying, maybe he was working or something.
Knocking on his door thrice without any response, I opened the door only to see him on the bed moving his head from one place to another, I dropped the tray on the table quietly and walked to his bed.
It was my first time seeing him so vulnerable, he was sweating profusely and looked like he was having a bad dream, just then he shouted and his eyes opened abruptly.
"Are you okay? Should I get you water?" I got up without waiting fir his response and in no second returned with a cup of water.
He leaned on the bed rest before collecting the cup and taking a sip from it before he returned the cup to me.
"Thanks."
"Looks like you were having a bad dream, are you alright?" I asked with concern laced in my tone and he nodded.
"It isn't a dream but I'll tag it as a bad dream," hle said and I scrunched up my brows in confusion. What did he mean by that?
"When did you get back?"
"Early in the evening."
"But your lesson should have ended since afternoon."
I nodded, "Yeah, it did but I went to my sister's place."
"Oh, how is she now?"
"Faring well."
"I was preoccupied at school that was why I didn't pick you guys up," he explained and I smiled.
"It's okay, someone else drove us home."
He raised his brows, "Who?"
"He's Crystal's friend and he attend our tutorial too, he stays in this estate, anyway, should I bring your dinner?"
He shook his head, "I'll have that later."
"Okay then," I rose to my feet and he gave a questioning look.
"Why are you standing?"
"I want to get going."
He nodded before talking, "Umm...can you stay a little bit."
I lifted my brows, "Till when?"
"Um...till I'm done with my dinner."
"Okay then, I'll sit over there," I pointed at his chair but he shook his head.
"You can just sit here," he patted where I'd sat on his bed earlier and I nodded. We stayed in silence as I kept on looking around the room while he only looked down, I wondered what could be going on in his mind, we were like that for some minutes before I broke the ice.
"You mentioned that it wasn't a dream earlier?" I started and he raised his head to me.
"Yeah, it's just a bad memory and I don't want to talk about it."
I nodded, "Oh, should I bring your food?"
"Yes."
I got to my feet and picked up the tray from the table, after giving it to him, he opened it and a faint smile appeared on his face, looks like it indeed was a bad memory and I wondered what it could be about.
The door opened slowly and we both swung our gaze to the entrance only for his mom to step in, I didn't miss the anger that appeared in his face and I squeezed my face. Why did he have to be angry at his mother every time?
"What are you doing here?" Her question brought me out of thoughts and I lifted my head only to realize she was referring to me, I got on my feet that instant and as I opened my mouth to speak but Tise beat me to it.
"She brought my dinner, why are you here?" He asked harshly.
"I need to speak to you."
Tise scoffed, "I have nothing to say, if it's about me helping your boyfriend or something, I'm not interested."
"He didn't get the appointment," she announced.
"I already know that, I never wanted him to be the chairman."
"But..."
He cut in, "Can you please leave? It's enough that you damaged me, I already lost my appetite," he dropped the tray on the bed furiously and I picked it up quickly while he got down from the bed and headed to the bathroom.
My eyes met with his mother and I quickly apologized before hurrying out of the room. I breathed out immediately I stepped out and traipsed to the kitchen while thinking about what went down earlier. Could his mother be the cause of the bad memory?
So, do you think his mother is responsible?
