Amelia's P.O.V:

I opened the door to my classroom but was sent back out again. The Head Teacher wanted to see me. I had no idea what i'd done. It wouldn't have been about the Jail incident because that happened at least a week ago. I reached her office and didn't bother knocking. I walked straight in and let the door slam shut. She looked up at me.
"Oh Amelia, you're here. It took you long enough!" She laughed but I didn't.
"I was busy. What do you want?" I asked venomously.
"We have a new student, I would like you to show her around."
"Why me? Isn't that what your perfect prefects are for or some shit? I asked and she sighed.
"Watch your language Miss Russell unless you'd like to endure another week's worth of detention again? And I have my reasoning. You two seem quite similar and you both have pretty much the same classes."
"What the hell do you mean by similar?" I asked, and spat the word out. No one was similar to me. I was one of a kind. I had my arms crossed and was leaning against the door so that I could escape quickly if I needed to.
"Let's just say Miss Black would not get along with the prefects of our school. Her way of thinking is much more like yours.-" I glared at her. "-Not that your way of thinking is bad, of course. It is why I think you will do a brilliant job of guiding Miss Black, so I expect you to be on your best behaviour."
"Oh whatever. Where is Miss Black or whatever her name is?" I asked.
Black. I'd heard that last name before.
"She is outside."
I opened the door and left without a goodbye. I walked to reception and found a girl with her back to me. She was picking her fake nails. I wasn't in the mod for any crap so I decided to be straight with her.
"Okay listen, new girl. You will leave me alone and enter Bitch-Control who i'm sure will be very happy to have a new group-ee and-"
"Amelia, hunny. I can assure you that I will not be leaving to Bitch-Control." She turned around and I was met with the face of a smirking Cher.
"Cher. I didn't know you were joining."
"Part of the parcel of moving town. Now, if it's okay with you, i'd much rather stay with the guys."
"Of course. But word of warning, you hurt them and I hurt your face." I threatened and she laughed.
"Don't worry. I won't hurt any of you." She said and I smiled. It felt nice, for some strange reason. I hadn't seen her since the night of the Prison but it still felt like we'd been friends for years.
I had a feeling we would be.
"Perfect. I like your outfit by the way, it's very... You." I said and she flashed me a grin as we started to walk.
She was wearing thick-soled trainers, black over the knee socks, a leather mini skirt, school polo and a blazer. But somehow, she made it look fashionable. Her hair was down and parted so it laid over her shoulders. It was wavy and when she moved her head you could see her black hooped earrings. Her make-up was bold with bright pink lipstick and winged eyeliner.
"Thanks. I didn't like the original."
"Who does?" I asked and lead her into the common room. There was no point going to class for half-an hour.

After around half an hour of small talk and getting to know each other better, Cher and I were cut off by a loud commotion of noise. There were boisterous laughs and chuckles and the smell that wafted through the door could not have been mistaken.
The boys.
They all entered but stopped dead in their tracks.
"Cher? What the-"
"Amelia! Where the hell-"
"Cher and Amelia together? Well we're all fu*ked." Derek cut both Jimmy and Aaron off. Cher wolf whistled loudly and all of the boys shut up.
"One at a time. Jesus Christ." She said and sighed.
"Cher? What the hell are you doing here?" Aaron asked. His voice was hoarse and his eyes lit up as if it were Christmas morning.
"I've moved here with my brother. Didn't Ryan tell you?"
"No. He didn't." Aaron said. He came over to us and sat down. Cher and him immediately started to have their own conversation and the rest of the boys turned to me.
"Where the hell were you?" Jimmy asked venomously. His eyes were narrowed and all of the boys stared at me.
"I walked to school, I left you a message and-"
"Why did you walk to school?" Tommy asked.
"Because I left early so I didn't-"
"Why did you leave early?" Derek growled. My eyes widened. What the hell was going on? I didn't want to deal with this today.
"Because I had a lot on my-"
"On your mind? Like what?" Jimmy once again questioned with a questioning gaze.
"Stuff." I mumbled. I didn't want to get into what was going around my head. Not on that particular day especially.
"What type of stuff?"Tommy jutted in.
"Stuff." I raised my voice a little.
"We will repeat ourselves once more. What type of stuff?" Jimmy glared, along with Tommy, both of them now in my personal space.
"Stuff okay! And none of it had anything to do with any of you so get out of my fu*king face before I mess yours up!" I shouted and everyone was stunned into silence. I stood up and pushed past Jimmy and Tommy. I headed for the door but Derek caught my arm.
"What do you want?" I sneered at him.
"What the hell was that?" He whispered angrily.
"What's it got to do with you?"
"A lot. They're our friends and you're threatening to beat them up! I want to know what the hell has gotten into you today!" Derek angrily whispered.
"Well I don't want anyone to know so how about you and your friends go and screw yourselves." I whispered back and pulled myself from his grip. I decided not to leave and headed for the kitchen area of the room. I slid down the wall by the fridge with tears pooling at my eyes.
I never broke down. But everybody does at some point.
Unfortunately, with what happened on that day, the smallest thing triggered it and I couldn't stop it from happening.
I wrapped my arms around myself and tried my hardest not to sob. I knew people were looking at me but I didn't care at that point. I sobbed silently and hated myself for it.
We all breakdown sometimes.

Ryan's P.O.V
* * * *
I stood in front of Amelia's shaking, sobbing form awkwardly. I had no idea what to do. None of us did. Everyone tried to get her to talk to us, or even simply move, but she refused. I was the last resort. We'd even tried to bribe her to get up with food but she ignored us. That was surprising bearing in mind we could hear her stomach rumbling through her cries. I'd asked Derek why she suddenly broke down but he simply shook his head angrily and told me he had to clue.
I didn't know what to do.
I sat down next to her and slowly wrapped my arms around her shoulders. It was hard as she was curled up in a ball with her knees to her chest. I rubbed her back lightly and pulled her as close to me as possible. After a few minutes of her sitting uncomfortably like that she released her knees and wrapped her arms around me. I pulled her so that she was practically on my lap. Her head was resting on my chest and her hands were shaking as they wrapped around my waist. I knew everyone was watching but they weren't on my priority list.
She was.
I could understand why they were watching; it was the first bit of movement we'd seen since she started to cry, but it wasn't enough. I needed to understand why she was crying.
"Amelia..." I whispered in her ear. Her cries were getting quieter and were mostly replaced by her shaking form. "Please tell me what's wrong. I can't... I can't stand seeing you like this. None of us can. We're sorry for interrogating you like that we didn't mean to, we were just worried - if that's what's wrong. If not then please tell me. I can't help you unless you do. Even Derek says he has no clue what could be wrong and he knows everything about you." I said and she hiccupped.
"D.D.Derek d. Does know. He's just t.Too stupid t.To think." She stuttered out through hiccups. Her cries were completely silent now. It was good progress. I caught eyes with Derek and mouthed to him what she said. He furrowed his eyebrows and I could practically see the wheels in his head turning. Hie eyes widened and he beckoned me over. I stood up and told Amelia that i'd be back in a minute.
"Her Dad and Lilly are back. When she sees Lilly she's reminded of her Mum." Derek explained in a whisper once I reached him.
"That wouldn't get her like this Derek." I said.
"When she sees Lilly she's reminded of what happened to her mum..." Derek repeated slowly.
"Yeah, I know her Mum dies Derek but it-"
"Ryan, it's her death anniversary." Derek said and I froze.
"T.Today?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yeah. But you did not hear it from me. She will only think I remember about Lilly and her Dad getting back." He said and I nodded. I went back to Amelia and went back to hugging her. I wouldn't mention what Derek said to me. I wanted Amelia to open up to me herself. We were close enough that she should have felt like she could trust me with the information.
We were close enough that she should have known I would comfort her.
"Derek told me about your Dad and Lilly getting back and about how Lilly reminds your Mum and what happened to her but that's not the reason you're crying. Amelia, just tell me." I pleaded and she shook her head.
"I can't." She mumbled.
"Yes you can. You use your voice box and talk."
"No, Ryan, you don't understand I can't." She said, her voice slowly raising.
"Yes. You can!"I said angrily.
"No! I can't!" She exclaimed. Her grip tightened on my top in what I assumed to be anger. I sighed. I removed myself from her to stop myself from getting even more frustrated with her. I tried to keep my anger in check. I stood up and punched the wall above where we were just sitting. I went to leave but she grabbed my trouser leg. I looked down at her. She was a mess.
"Stay." She pleaded in a whisper. I saw her there, staring up at me, her eyes were red and puffy, her make-up was smudged all over her face and it broke me. It broke me to see her so distraught. But I couldn't sit and comfort her about a matter I shouldn't have known about until she told me herself. We were meant to be best friends. We'd opened up enough times that what was making her cry seemed like nothing in comparison so I was annoyed that she wouldn't tell me.
Especially when it was a matter that I could help with by comforting her and being there.
I chuckled but with everything other than humour and shook my head.
"Will you tell me the story?"
Everything went silent. Everyone was watching our interaction to see what would happen.
"I...I can't!" She sobbed out loudly, once again breaking down. I shook my head in anger, fists clenched and I stormed to the door. Derek got there before me and placed his hands on my chest to stop me leaving.
"Where are you going? She needs you Ryan."
"Yeah well she can go f*ck herself. You know the story why don't you stay. " I glared at him, spitting out my words with such venom I could have taken out a snake. I shoved him out of my way and stormed out of the door and away from the school.
I was acting like an arse and I knew it. But I couldn't seem to help it...
