Mock Battles Part 2

Heroes and villains. That was their test. All Might had everybody sorted into teams of two by drawing lots. Everybody except for, well... Percy. There was just one problem.

Class A had an uneven number of students and there was nobody left to be teamed up with. All Might stumbled with his words for a moment. "Alright, it looks like we'll have to do a team of three-"

"I'll go alone." Percy interrupted.

"How would you do that? There's an even amount of teams already." The boy with spiky red hair spoke. His name was... Kirishima?

"Then I'll face one team again. If they're tired from the first round it'll be okay, and even then, villains aren't always going to be considerate enough to come at you in even numbers. Consider it good practice?" Percy said, sharing his thoughts. He had enough experience to know that an enemy didn't always come at you fair and square, They would rather take whatever chance they could and so would Percy.

"If you're sure..." Percy nodded. He could take them. "In that case... Kaminari and Jiro, will you battle young Percy?" Both students agreed. "Then let the mock battles begin!"

The first to battle were the four, Bakugo, Iida, Midoriya and Uraraka. Percy had taken care to observe his classmates names and quirks for future reference.

To watch the others battle this way was completely different to Percy. He was used to fighting and watching fights in an open arena with more uncommon weapons such as staffs, swords, daggers, bows and arrows - not with quirks. Not with all the colourful and high tech boosters inside buildings where stealth was key and to do little damage to surrounds was crucial.

Maybe this would be good for me. I'll learn to restrain myself a little more, Percy thought as he sheepishly recalled the time he blew up a volcano.

Percy paid close attention when it came to Kaminari and Jiro's fight; after all, they were to be his next opponents and though it was unfamiliar and Percy was outnumbered he wasn't aiming to lose if he could help it. Percy thought that if he could at least deal less damage than the first kid had, then that would be victory enough for the day.

A few battles later and it was Percy's turn to take the field. As he was at a disadvantage they allowed Percy to chose his role. A hero or a villain.

He chose a hero because strategically, he thought that would be easier. Not to mention all of this reminded him of capture the flag. Defeat the enemies, reach the target. He didn't have to bring it back into home territory either, he just needed to touch it. Not to mention that if he accidentally maimed somebody he'd still get dessert.

Percy was made to wait for five minutes while the villain team set up and then he was let loose.

"START!"

Percy dashed inside. He'd already looked at the blueprints and based off his opponents' previous play, made a guess where they would stash the weapon.

Five minutes.

Minimal damage.

Go.

Jiro, the girl with the Headphone Jack quirk would undoubtedly be listening for his approach and there was nothing he could do about that. Perhaps Percy would be able to muffle it by spreading the water over the walls, however, that would take up too much energy and concentration, not to mention he didn't have enough water and it would be another dead give away of his position. Kaminari would probably be waiting in hiding for him, ready to electrocute-

As the thought crossed Percy's mind, a jolt of electricity darted around the corner, barreling towards him and forcing the demigod to throw himself to the side. Electricity was a bad match for him.

Kaminari himself appeared, grinning wildly. "You're quirk is water manipulation right? Great for my quirk. I'll be sure to give you the shock of your life!"

Percy grit his teeth and willed the water to his hands, feeling the familiar tug in his gut. "You'll have to catch me first."

And then he ran.

Not forwards, towards Kaminari, but away from him, back down the hall. He could feel the electricity licking at his heels as he made his getaway.

Water was a massive conductor for electricity. Together they'd be a powerful team, but when pitted against each other, Kaminari held the advantage. By running away he could accomplish several things. One, to tire out his opponent. Percy was pretty positive he had more stamina and would last longer. Two, familiarise himself with the physical layout of the building. He might also stumble upon his target. Three, it would be harder for Jiro to keep up with her quirk if he's constantly moving. Of course, the fact that Kaminari's quirk was long distance was an annoyance. But Percy also knew that if Kaminari over-exerted himself he'd be down for the count.

Percy veered sharply to the left, taking off down a narrow corridor. There were doors lining the walls, but Percy didn't dare enter them. As a matter of fact, fighting Kaminari would be like fighting Jason, except Kaminari would resort to his ability more than a physical weapon.

"Oi! Come and fight me!" Kaminari yelped as Percy made his escape. As anticipated, the boy had little choice but to give chase.

It lasted for about a minute and a half and was lead by Percy. Kaminari didn't catch him once. He lead Kaminari through a maze if corridors and they were nearing the top floor. By now Percy had figured out that the weapon had to be up here. However, he'd found no evidence that Jiro was up here.

Could the weapon have been in one of those downstairs rooms?

Kaminari on the other hand, Percy knew where he was the whole time from his irritating barrage of insults.

Percy rounded the corner and the corridors opened up into a large room cleared of objects. Against the window was exactly what Percy was looking for.

Bingo.

Suddenly, Percy was thrown against the wall, causing a cry of pain to ring out as he was left on the floor spasming.

He'd been hit! How?

Percy coughed weakly and looked up. At his feet stood a smug looking Kaminari.

The insults had finally stopped being shouted and who rounded the corner was not Kaminari, but Jiro, sweaty and huffing from her chase after Percy.

What?

Percy pushed himself to his feet, trying in vain to stop the twitching side-effects of being struck by lightning and rid himself of the ringing in his ears. He'd have the time to think of what went wrong after the battle. But for now, he knew exactly where both his opponents were and his target was only meters away.

A wave of water flung out towards his opponents who went wide-eyed and attempted to dodge while Percy dashed for the weapon.

Almost there-

A bolt of lightning had Percy scrambling hastily to a halt while somebody tackled him to the ground in a desperate attempt to keep him from advancing. Percy yelped as his head thunked on the ground, causing his vision to blur and the ringing noise to intensify.

They reached for his arms, probably to tie him up.

If I can't get to the destination, I'll bring the destination to me...

He wrestled one arm free and summoned the water to him. It coiled like a serpent and wrapped around the base of the weapon like a lasso. The weapon was slowly dragged closer.

Just a little further-

Kaminari, in a moment of panic, grabbed Percy's ankles and jerked the boy to the side, further away from the target. He also succeeded in breaking Percy's concentration, which allowed the water to splash to the floor. Kaminari slipped and tried to use Percy to steady himself, in which he yanked the boy harder and threw him out to far-

Right into the window.

The glass was weakened from previous battles and it cracked and shattered against Percy's momentum and the demigod found himself free-falling out the top floor window. New pain blossomed in his body from the glass cuts.

He panicked.

Think, Percy, think!

The ball.

Could he-?

If he could geyser himself back up as he did with the ball in those tasks with Aizawa...

You're a ball, Percy. You're a ball.

Percy scrunched his eyes shut and felt the familiar tug in his gut as he summoned a massive spurt of water to propel himself back up. He was far heavier than that ball after all.

Please let this work!

Hello! It's December! I'm sorry I left you all hanging for so long, but exams are finished now and I wanted to update sooner but a lot of stuff changed for me so I couldn't. And I need to not fail Ficmas this year but working on that was a good way to get back into groove.

Peace,

BTSWD
