Over 1K words, enjoy ;)
It was late at night. Jungkook was sure it was way past midnight and that they have been driving for a couple of hours at least.
The view was breathtaking though. Only sources of light were the headlights of their car and a half-moon up in the clear night sky. He could see the city at times. It was very far away and it's light's almost resembled the stars with how small they appeared. They kept taking turns after turns following the mountain path through thick forest.
He kept humming the song he sang with Jimin before. It was stuck in his head along with Jimin's beautiful presence. His friend was currently asleep, his head pressed against the window on his side. Jungkook was trying really hard not to stare, but it felt like cheating ever time he saw Jimin's reflection in the window next to him. He was also trying not to glance towards Taehyung too often. Somehow, every time he did it, the older was already staring at him. And after the 5th time he really didn't want to be flustered again.
They took a sharper turn and Jungkook felt something plop onto his shoulder. He turned his head only to be met with Jimin's blonde hair right next to his face.
"Oh." He kept his eyes fixated on his friend, unsure of how would Taehyung react if they made eye contact. 'If I don't see him, he can's see me either,' he thought to himself. It sounded stupid sure, but after summoning all his self-control he left Jimin to rest on his shoulder and continued staring out the window.
After a few more minutes, the car finally stopped.
"We're here," Taehyung turned to them.
Jungkook looked forward seeing a nice (and fairly big) cabin. To be fair he only thought the word cabin fitted because it was made of wood but he could confuse it for a hotel and any other time he would be right.
"Come on," Taehyug said and stepped out of the car.
Before Jungkook could even turn, Taehyung opened the door and was staring at them.
"Uh, he's asleep," Jungkook said as if it weren't obvious.
Taehyung nodded. "I'll carry him."
With a little help from Jungkook, Jimin was secure in Taehyung's hold who was carrying him like a princess he was.
Taehyung took out his keys and opened the door with extreme precision, not moving Jimin too much and the boy stayed sound asleep.
Still, Jungkook was really surprised how he stayed asleep through all of that. He must feel super safe.
Once he stepped into the house, Jungkook marveled at how domestic and cozy it looked. It took him a few moments to realize he was left alone, but Taehyung soon came back - without Jimin, most likely leaving him to rest under soft covers.
"Jungkook, I brought some food, you know, so we don't starve here. Help me unpack it?"
"Ah, yes, of course." Jungkook jumped from the couch and rushed to help him.
Once all the bags were inside, in the kitchen, all that was left was to put everything into the assigned place.
"You sure brought a lot of stuff," Jungkook commented, not really thinking Taehyung would hear it.
"You never know how long we will need to stay here. I'm not taking chances," Taehyung casually responded.
"Oh, I guess that makes sense," Jungkook agreed, nodding his head. "So I'm guessing we'll have to cook for ourselves. Were you planning on cooking the dinner or?" Jungkook asked, now feeling more relaxed.
"Uh, yes," Taehyung answered and abruptly turned away.
"What were you planning on making?"
"Uhh, I don't know?" Taehyung gave him an insecure look.
"Do you... know how to cook?"
"Of course I do," the older defended.
Jungkook gave him a look, obviously not believing him.
"Just not lots of things. Or really anything concrete." Jungkook couldn't not laugh at that.
"Well I'll help you then," he told him, still laughing slightly.
"Really?" Taehyung looked generally surprised.
"Yeah, dude. You learn to cook pretty quickly when you're on your own. Well, when you have money for food that doesn't need to be only microwaved. I actually haven't cooked myself for a while." Jungkook rubbed his neck, pouting a bit.
A bit later they had all the groceries out and ready for use. Jungkook gave Taehyung the task of boiling the spaghetti. What could go wrong, am I right?
"Tae, that's way too much salt! And water! It will never boil that way!"
Taehyung quickly moved away from the pot. "Really? I wasn't sure... I thought... You know, the more the merrier?" He awkwardly smiled.
"Oh, God." Jungkook spilled the water and put the pot into the sink. He bent down to get a smaller one. "You really weren't kidding when you said you were helpless."
"Yeah, never got the chance to learn," he mumbled sheepishly.
Jungkook chuckled. "It's okay. I wasn't that great at first either." Taehyung grinned a little at that. "First time I made sweet potatoes they were stuck to the plate and wouldn't fall off no matter how hard I shook them." He took an empty plate and demonstrated how hard he tried to get them to fall off.
They both broke into laughing fits.
With Taehyung safe on the sidelines and Jungkook doing all the work, dinner was finished without any more incidents.
Taehyung gladly helped setting up the table for the three of them. He went into full artistic mode, bringing all kinds of table decorations - even a vase with fresh flowers. Jungkook had no idea how or why he even had them.
Just as Taehyung was lighting up the last candle, a still groggy Jimin walked into the room.
He slowly rubbed his eyes. "Wow, what's all of this?" he asked rubbing his eyes again and blinking them afterward.
"A surprise," Jungkook showed his bunny smile.
"Kook and I thought we would surprise you with a homemade dinner," Taehyung said to Jimin.
"Well, it was Tae's idea. Although I did all of the cooking," Jungkook puffed his chest, bragging jokingly.
Taehyung retaliated with pushing him away (gently) and came closer to Jimin.
"Come, you gotta taste his cooking." He smoothly took his hand. "It's great," Taehyung whispered to him.
Still in disbelief and unsure if he was dreaming Jimin walked toward the small round table. "Oh, Tae did you decorate this? It's gorgeous!" Jimin exclaimed and Taehyung lightly blushed.
Jungkook came from the kitchen and put the pot on the table. "Dinner is served!"
"You guys are amazing!" Jimin was still under the impression and before he knew it, he gave both guys a kiss on the cheek.
Well more like a peck. It seemed as if Jimin didn't even register his actions as he was digging in the very next second. But both Jungkook and Tehyung were bewildered. They shared a wide-eyed look but neither said anything. In the end, they just joined Jimin and enjoyed the extremely tasty food.
"Jungkook this is amazing!"
As the night went by and a bottle of wine was opened they got closer and closer. They all had a blast despite being a bit tipsy and after an hour or so, to all of them, it seemed like they knew each other for ages and were closest friends if not more.
A few more days passed like that — just lounging around the house, getting to know each other and each other's habits.
For example, Jungkook learned that both Jimin and Taehyung were very gregarious and touchy.
And they learned that Jungkook wasn't as okay with skinship at first, but with their persistence he got used to it. Sorta.
Jungkook also learned that the two got much more affectionate when slightly drunk. (Or, in reality, all their 'so-called' smooth and not too direct flirting came on even stronger but they were too tipsy to think straight.)
So, almost every night the three ended up cuddled together on a comfy and spacious couch under a light blanket with a madly blushing and slightly uncomfortable Jungkook.
And most times they stayed that way 'till noon, snuggled together, fast asleep.
