Chapter One

{This is one of my first ever real ' novels', hope you guys like it, updates will be every Saturday! Oh ps I'm including a song with each chapter most of the time they won't  have anything to do with the chapter I just think they connect to the story}

I sat silently. Well almost silently. I tapped my foot nervously. The ship hummed in the background. Remember what you're here for Star. Well, I was here for two things mainly, the first being the reason I was in an auto-lock metal chair. Stealing the crown of the Queen of the colonies of New Britain wasn't exactly a thing people took lightly. The second reason was to steal the crown again before we reached the colonies and hand it off to some buyer in the new Americas.

I had been locked in the room for nearly an hour and the ship had been running for twenty meaning I had only minutes before I was toast. Luckily just like always, I had a plan. As soon as the guards came to get me, I would take out the tiny explosive that was hidden In the one place no male guard would dare try and look; and throw it at the spaceships walls just as I grabbed one of their blasters. It was the perfect plan for the perfect girl-as in me.

I slowly slid my arm through the arm whole down to retrieve the minuscule bomb that was hidden professionally in a tiny pocket in my underwear. After I had the small round object I went back to being still. I know they had cameras and alarms everywhere I just hoped they were more focused on the landing side of things to notice the small feat I had pulled off. I sat in boredom waiting. This might have been the easiest thing I'd ever had to do really, I had escaped hundreds of cells, at least twenty prisons, and seven other holding ships. This was a piece of cake. I mean no other twenty-two-year-old had ever pulled off stunts like me.

Just as I expected the door slide open and ten guards walked in. They all wore matching white suits with white helmets the logo of the queen painted on. They all separated into two lines down the middle a very handsome man, and by very handsome I mean he was Gregory Peck handsome. Unlike the rest of them, he didn't wear the helmet and instead was wearing a red suit.

"Star Beckett, you will be escorted to a holding cell in our majesties national prison," His velvet smooth British accent made me smile, I should go to New Britain more often. The men were certainly cuter here. The ten guards carefully undid the latches on the prison chair device and attached a shock collar around my neck. How stupid did they think I was? Shock collars were the easiest thing in the book to escape from, in fact, all it took was pressure around a certain point and you were free to go.

I stood up shaking my feet preparing myself. They led me out to a long hallway where at the very end was a port door that was opening slowly. I looked at the walls trying to find the best way to do this. In less than five seconds I found the best option. There was a bay window that, although was no doubt was fortified plexiglass my little bomb could destroy it. Sliding the small ball of metal from down my sleeve into my hand, I tossed it at the window and almost like clockwork it went off and a large hole and plenty of smoke was created for my expense.

Tilting my neck at the joint on the collar it fell to the ground, swinging my leg around I hit mister handsome square in his jaw, grabbing his 3046 model blaster and ran to the hall giving them a one finger salute.

Jumping down onto the roof I immediately felt a twinge of fear. I was on the roof of the presumed prison and the only way was down, and holy crud was it a long way down. The guards had seemed to recover and all guns were on me.

Whipping my head around I pointed the blaster right at them. Luckily for me and unluckily for them, I was a terrific shot. Looking down from what I believed was a six-story building I was dismayed to find there was not a single ledge to jump onto. My best option was do something extremely dangerous and incredibly stupid. Leveling the gun at them I pulled the trigger exactly eleven times. Because I had forgotten an extremely important object.

Of course, I couldn't just kill them, no that was a little savage even for me. Instead, I shot them all in the knee an injury that could be fixed in little to an hour in a healing chamber. The spaceship was pretty big but it was standard for new Britain and the layout was pretty much identical to everyone I'd ever been put on. So I jumped through the hole I'd made and ran down the hall making a quick left, and just as I had suspected the staircase that led to the bay was there. And there, of course, was the crown.

Surprisingly no one was there to guard it. Grabbing the bag that contained my prize I ran to the escape bod release station. Of course, since this was tiny compared to the prison ships I'd been held on it didn't have many escape pods instead it only had two. I jumped in the first one and was disappointed to find that lockdown was on. Well of course it was, I had kind of expected for them to do it. This is where my year spent studying electronics and wiring came in. Screwing off the main panel with my pinky nail I inspected the motherboard. Now all I had to do was remove the wire that connects it to the main system. I unplugged it and felt the engine soar to life.

Now escape pods on ships like these were small and crapped with a single seat and controls that mimicked the ones in museums. Looking for the release button, when I found the red circle I pressed it and felt the small pod release from the holding deck. Feeling the rush of energy I took off. Of course, I couldn't stay in this little dinky thing for long, these things could get shot down by a kid with a toy laser pistol.

As I landed at the national shopping center I couldn't help but feel extremely proud of myself. I had evaded their grasp-again! All I had to do was find someone with a freighter, and maybe some new clothes. After all, this job was worth the big bucks and I might finally be able to afford rent again. I landed the small contraption and exited grabbing the crown. I fashioned the velvet bag over my shoulder which made it appear like a stylish purse. Perfect. I walked onto the conveyor transporter that zoomed me; and nearly a hundred other patrons to the mall. Inside a million smells collided. Mostly I just wanted to go to mels. Mel was an old friend of mine and his bar was the perfect place to find a worthy pilot to bring me back to America. But first I needed some sort of remedy, preferably in a liquid state.

"Yo Mel, one whiskey please." I take a seat and look around the room. Mel is one of a thousand venues at this place but he is by far my favorite. of course, he had no idea I was a renowned thief and one the earth's greatest villains. Okay, that was stretching it a bit but I did always have an air for the dramatics.

"Star, so good you could come back!" Mel has a thick accent but whenever he talks to me he always tries to sound 'American'.

"Glad to be back." Truth is I love New Britain. It is a beautiful country and unlike America, it didn't suffer from a war that destroyed practically all of the country. He slides a whiskey to me and I slide him a ten credit bill I'd found in the pod. In the corner, a projector is showing a rugby game. there's a man watching the game with a droid that seems to be doing work on its interior wiring. "Say, do you know anyone with a freighter that can take me back to the Americas?" I ask Mel.

"Over there, that's Captain Toil," He pauses and leans over the counter to whisper in my ear. "I've heard he could be a criminal though." I want to laugh at Mels overprotectiveness. I doubted that a criminal could actually be dangerous compared to me, besides I still had the blaster from earlier.

"Thanks, Mel, I think I can help myself." I smiled and handed him my empty glass. I walked over to the corner booth. Upon closer inspection, I noticed his droid was a humanoid model 160358. I used to have one identical to it. Although Mister Captain seemed to have the air for the dramatic as his droid was dressed in a leather suit and had synthetic pink hair. In fact, if I hadn't noticed it's exposed arm port I would have thought it was a quite pretty girl. Meanwhile the captain, he seemed the complete opposite. He had messy brown hair and green eyes. He wore a simple gray T-shirt and black jeans. His leather boots were scuffed and I could see a gaping hole in them. "Excuse Mel tells me you have freighter that could possibly deliver me to America?" I asked placing my hands on the table.

"Depends on how much you're willing to pay," He says taking a sip of his beer. I'm surprised to find he is without a British accent. His droid turns to me, her bright blue eyes scan me up and down.

"How do a thousand credits sound? This is a two-hour trip after all." He tilts his head almost like he's considering it.

"Della run a background system on her." He points at me.

"That won't be necessary." I snap reaching for the blaster inside my jacket.

"And why is that?" He smirks. "Have something to hide?"

"That," I take a deep breath moving my hand away from the blaster. "Is none of your business, how is 1,500 if you keep quiet?" He nods signaling 'Della' to stop.

"When can you leave?" He asks taking another swig of the amber beer.

"I can leave right now."
