Chapter Three

"Uhh out of the closet." Bianca stuttered under her breath. I looked up at Oliver expecting him to explode in anger instead he seemed to shrink away.

"Oh, I see, well we will be there in an hour." His voice was practically a whisper. I short Bianca a glare.

"What were you thinking," I whispered through gritted teeth. She shrugged and went back to applying makeup. "No, really I think your brother might be a bit insane."

"He's not insane," Bianca said setting down the brush harshly on the counter. "Well, you should get ready for whatever you're here for." She leaves the bathroom her feet hitting the metal floor loudly.

"Well at least your safe with me," I looked down at the crown smiling, looking back up at my reflection I smiled even wider. Bianca had done an amazing job, she should really consider becoming a makeup artist. I supposed I should thank the captain for being so fast. Walking down the hallway still wearing my boots I turned around to reach the cockpit. Inside I could see him inside leaning against the wall. His droid, err Della was flying the ship. "Uhh, captain I just wanted to uh thank you for making this easy." He looked up his green eyes filled with an expression of pain.

"Oh you're welcome," His voice was strained like he was trying not to cry. I looked down at the dress. Was he seriously that worked up over wearing his girlfriend's old dress? He muttered something incohesive under his breath. "What are you doing in new vegas anyway?" He asks wiping his eyes with the sleeves of a beat-up leather jacket.

"Nothing much, or do you not check the feeds?" I asked trying to lighten the mood up. He looked confused and pulled out his Magna-screen from his pocket. A few seconds later he looked up abruptly at me.

"Uhh no way,"Oliver's voice was in shock and the look of sadness was replaced with amazement. "You stole the queen of new Britain's crown?" He squealed. Della turned her robotic head her eyes squinted at me.

"Ehh it was no big deal, Oliver." I scoff. He narrows his eyes.

"It's Captain Toil to you, miss big deal," I rolled my eyes and looked out the front window and immediately regretted it. Below the ship was miles of water. I felt ill at the sight of the expanse of ocean. I gulped and turned back to 'Captain Toil' my hand was shaking. "You okay?"

"Umm I'm fine," I took a seat across from him as an excuse to stop facing the window. "So do you have any business in new vegas? I know a really good bar." I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear. For being completely insane he was extremely handsome.

"Which one?" Oh, I forgot he was probably a regular to the area.

"Aeon, an old friend of mine owns it." It was true that my old school friend Greg but he was also my first boyfriend. Sometimes Greg can be a little, uhm odd? I think he just wanted to impress me and if it wasn't for the amazing selection of drinks they had I would never go there..

"Huh never heard of it," He scratched his chin. "I could use a drink." He murmured to himself.

"Well once I drop this crown, I wouldn't mind getting a drink with my new best friend." He smirked.

"I think you're forgetting someone?" I was slightly confused for a second when I heard the voice. Turning my head I saw Della stand up. I was surprised by how real, her voice sounded. Oliver must have noticed the way I stiffened.

"Uhm Della you can stay with Bianca," He smiled at the droid the way someone would look when talking to someone they loved. The sight made me feel a little bit upset. In fact, I couldn't help but feel sick. This poor man was in love with someone that was dead. Della nodded and turned back to the controls. Oliver focused his attention back to me.

"That sounds good, and it seems you may need a little backup, and I'd be happy to help as long as you buy me some sort of drink."

"Happy to oblige captain, now if you'll excuse me I desperately need a pair of shoes." Hopefully, Bianca would be fine with a con-artist and thief borrow a pair of shoes. He nodded and got up to sit in the front seat. I stood up brushing off any dust that had settled on the breezy material of the dress. Walking out of the cockpit I stepped down back into the hallway. When I reached Bianca's door it was open, she was sitting on her bed watching an old movie on her televisor.

"What do you want," She didn't turn to face me and continued watching the projection on her wall. "If you're here to tease my brother you can leave."

"First off, I wasn't teasing your obviously crazy brother. Second off, I'm just here to borrow a pair of shoes."

"So? Just so you can steal just like you stole the queen of Britain's crown?!" Oh great, they really had made that public. I mean they had my photo and a complete file on me but I'd always thought they would keep it private. That way the public couldn't get in the way. Most of the time I wore a wave frequenzier; a device that made signals harder to read, meaning they couldn't see my face from their cameras or collect my data.

"Uh no I'm coming back to the ship afterward," I sighed slowly. I really wish the blaster wasn't in the bathroom. "Besides why would I want your shoes? I have like two hundred pairs at home." She squinted her eyes.

"Fine, you can look in my closet." She was still watching her movie. I couldn't recognize the film but then again no one's movie collection was exactly the same. Recovering early earthen technology was extremely expensive and most of it was lost in the great war of 2067, that was over 100 years ago. I walked the few steps over the shaggy pink rug to the door. Inside there was a small collection of comfortable looking clothes, under that was a shoe rack. Most of the shoes weren't fancy but a pair of black heels caught my eye. Taking them out I slid off one of my boots. The shoes were a little big-which honestly made me feel slightly sad. I had always been a smaller person and the fact I could fit in a thirteen-year-olds shoe was a sobering fact. Taking the heel and my boot off along with my socks I then put the two-inch heels on.

Standing up and looking in the mirror that was positioned on the door I spun around on the heel. "So does that look good?" I asked her. She looked at the movie and nodded. Checking the time on the screen I realized I still had plenty of time before we could get there. Deciding to explore the ships many rooms I set off. The first room I entered was the bathroom to get my clothes which I bundled the crown in. Next, I went to the room across from Della the dead/robot girls room was what I assumed was a crew bedroom. There were two empty bunks that filled up most of the room. Closing the door disappointed I walked down to the end of the hall to the last door. Pressing the enter button I let a soft gasp escape my mouth. Inside was A huge window covered one wall.

Walking to it I looked down at what I assumed was the remnants of a long destroyed eastern side of new America. The ruins of huge buildings spanned everything. It was beautiful.

"Like it don't you?" I jumped. Captain Toil was standing in the doorway running a hand through his hair.

"It's amazing, you know I grew up just outside the border." As I looked down at the wreckage It made me think of my parents. Pushing the dark thoughts out of my head I focused on the blurring debris.

"What is it like?" He asked joining me by the window. "Err was."

"Nothing special," I murmured. Honestly, it really was extremely special. "It was typical upbringing." Which was also a lie.

"Uh huh, I guess it wasn't anything like how I grew up," Sensing a story I waved my hand for him to continue. He smiled then cleared his throat. "I grew up in the city of Seattle which is just a mess of robbers. My mom had a bit of a problem with commitment and slept around with quite a few men. For a long time, she had had a birth blocker after she had me but one day the programming in her genes slipped up and so Bianca was born. I was ten at the time. Around that age I met Della," He paused smiling to himself. "She's my best friend," I was getting some creepy vibes but I just nodded. "So what do you mean by a 'typical upbringing."

"You know just like on the port-dramas," I started fidgeting with the neckline of the dress trying not to expose so much of my cheap bra. "We lived in a small farming town, and we just farmed carrots." Another completely false fact.

"Really? Then why did your personal file say you born in an unknown territory and you showed up in new America when you were eleven?" I gulped but was slightly impressed, I guess the government was good at keeping tabs.
