Chapter 13
(Kanan pov)
The red lightsaber deactivates and returns to the Inquisitor's belt. But a knife replaces it. The Inquisitor opens a cut on Ezra's lip and blood tints it. I watch in horror as Ezra tastes the blood. He grimaces.
2 stormtroopers come rushing in and grab my arms, pining me. My lightsaber falls to the ground, rendering me helpless. Ezra looks terrified now as the knife grazes his cheek, drawing more blood. He flinches.
"Listen here, Kanan. I am going to force you to watch as I almost kill your Padawan. And eventually, when I am permitted, I will kill him. But first: I will force you to hear every scream and cry of pain; watch every cut bleed. And there will be nothing you can do."
Anger and fears flows through me, like a raging river. I keep my eyes connected with Ezra's though. My gaze never leaves his.
The Inquisitor opens another cut on Ezra's arm, this time a deep one. Ezra screams with the pain, and blood stains his shirt sleeve. I cry out myself.
"Let me go!" Ezra fights against his restraints. The Inquisitor laughs, an evil, cruel laugh, with no mercy in it.
Ezra's arm begins to drop blood onto the floor. He sees it and he fights against unconsciousness.
"Let him go! Stop!" I cry out.
Ezra looks at me. "Kanan..." He whispers.
"It's all right Ezra. It's okay. I will get you out of here as soon as I can." I talk to him soothingly.
The boy turns to the Inquisitor and looks straight at him, all fear gone from his eyes, replaced by anger. "Let me go. Whatever it is you and your Master want with me, you won't get it by torturing me. I swear. And when I get out of here, I am going to have my revenge on you."
"Foolish boy. I already have what My Master and I want. You, turned to the dark side. And you are leaning closer to it then ever before," he says, smiling evilly.
"Ezra, don't listen to him-" I start, but am cut off by another scream of pain. Ezra has been cut on his cheek again. His eyes roll in his head and he slumps, unconscious.
"So strong, yet so weak," the Inquisitor says.
I struggle against the troopers' grip. "Why all this trouble? Why bother trying to turn him?"
"Because, my Master is in need of more Inquisitors. With his power, the boy would be the perfect apprentice. In fact, I have been tasked with the pleasure of his training myself. Take him to another cell," The Inquisitor orders the stormtroopers. I am dragged away then, from Ezra.
"And if he will not turn, Jedi..." The Inquisitor smiles. He shrugs. "Then he WILL die."
