I want to thank the organizers of the Star Wars Fans profile for sponsoring the Star Wars Smackdown contest and for getting me back in the saddle. It has been a very long time since I wrote any Star Wars fiction, and I really did not feel I could ever do it again. When it is over, I may not venture back into the universe again. For those who do not know me or my work, I wrote the Star Wars Adventure Journal short story The Final Exit (among several others) and the role-playing sourcebook Black Sands of Socorro.

I dedicate this story to the people and the guilds of the Wanderhome server and the game Star Wars Galaxies by Sony Entertainment that brought us all together. The game was such an integral part of my life for such a long time. It has been over a decade that the game was shuttered. No game or experience has ever come close to rivaling the people, the places, the camaraderie, or the memories.
