That was the day, the indescribable sadness hit me...

I trudged back to camp in shame. I kept thinking how stupid I was. If only I still had someone to protect me. If only Lionkit were still alive. 

Once I entered the camp, every cat had their eyes towards me. Confused, I stumbled forward, noticing the leader had a disheartened look plastered across his face. 

"Hello, Eaglepaw." He greeted me, his husky voice echoing throughout the camp. "I have some bad news for you." 

I couldn't think. My heart was racing. 

"ShadowClan attacked the patrol I sent out this morning. Your mother was apart of that patrol." The pale gray leader paused. "She didn't make it. I'm so sorry." He sighed, his dark eyes gazing at the ground beneath his paws.
