Something More
Stella smiled to herself as she sat in the worn old scarlet cushioned armchair right by the flickering warm fire of the Gryffindor Common room, her hands busy fiddling with her tumbling ebony curls as her eyes focused upon the burning embers within the fire and the red hot sparks it released with each regular crackle. Her eyes reflected the dancing flames, icy blue tinted mirrors of the sight before her.
"What's on your mind?" A familiar voice asked curiously, a hint of unmistakeable cheekiness and interest clear in their tone. There was nobody it could be other than Fred.
"Hello, Fred." She smiled, thinking about how similar this was to their encounter upon the astronomy tower.
"Wrong. It's George." The voice chuckled.
"Nice try, I can easily tell it's you Fred." Stella smirked to herself as she saw the ginger twin sit down beside her in the adjacent identical armchair. Yet she couldn't help but think about what Angelina had told her the other day, and wondered if he truly did have feelings for her.
"Oh whatever, you never answered my question." He laughed, eyes glinting with the bright flames before them.
"I don't know, nothing I suppose- just about lessons and the past week and stuff. I guess I was just day dreaming, nothing interesting." Stella shrugged.
"Day dreaming is one of the most interesting pass times in existence, Stella." Fred told her with an air of wisdom that she had never before expected of him.
"What about pranking Slytherins? You seem to enjoy that as well." She giggled.
"Hmm, it's another good one, yeah." He chuckled.
"I wish I had better things to do than just sit here, but I've got nobody to write to, my friends are all in bed already and I haven't got the required energy leftover for homework." Stella sighed.
"Why don't you just chat with me? I'm free all night." Fred winked at her, earning himself one of her melodic laughs that was like a drug to him.
"Sure." She sniggered.
"You don't happen to fancy anyone right now, do you Stell?" Fred changed the topic and grew more serious, a fairly apprehensive and uncomfortable tone to his voice.
"Fancy anyone? Can't say I do to be honest. Well, I suppose there's a chance I like this one guy- but I'm not sure he likes me back." Stella replied softly.
"I'm sure he does, who wouldn't? After all, you're gorgeous, funny, brave and smart- they'd be mad not to like you!" Fred smiled, speaking with extreme passion and unbridled emotion, looking ever so slightly disheartened at her response.
"What about you? Who do you fancy?" Stella turned the question on him, and he soon became rather flustered at the unexpected spotlight.
"This girl. She's beautiful, she's got these big beautiful silver eyes that light up when she laughs- and her laugh is the most amazing sound you could ever hear, it's bloody perfect and I could listen to it for hours. She's funny too, she makes me laugh just as much I her, and she always has something clever to say. She's really special to me, though I'm not sure she knows it yet." Fred let the powerful words escape his mouth quickly, getting lost in his own little speech as his eyes flirted off to stare into space, swimming with adoration.
"Wow, she sounds incredible." Stella replied, slight disappointment lacing her voice.
"She is. And I wish she knew that she was currently sitting beside me, fiddling with her dark hair nervously and looking bewildered." He revealed the true identity of his ramblings, Stella.
Stella was greatly taken aback by this revelation, she hadn't expected all the beautiful things that he'd said to have been all about her. She was extremely grateful and happy.
"I... I have feelings for you too." She replied in a voice so small that she was surprised when he heard it.
"This is the bit when I'm supposed to kiss you." Fred smirked, leaning forward so that his lips were only millimetres from hers, her soft warm honey and sweet vanilla scent greeting his nostrils as he looked into her wide pretty grey orbs, staring back at him with nothing but pure anticipation. Finally their lips met, brushing against each other in a soft frenzy, melting into each other.
"Oi oi!" They heard George call, but at this moment in time, everything was too perfect to warrant any distractions.
