"That's so cool!" Alex exclaims, scootching closer to her friend. "So were you talking with the flowers at the park?"

Sam nods and her gaze shifts towards the floor.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know." Alex follows her gaze, "but why were you sitting by yourself? Where were your friends?"

"It's okay." Sam replies softly, hesitant to look up. "I didn't have any friends then." Her eyes meet with Alex's eyes. "But now I have you so I won't be alone no more."

"That's right." The two girls smile at each other before the bell rings, signalling it's time for home.
