Let's pretend Trials of Apollo doesn't exist. Leo comes back, though.
-Song: Too close-
You know I'm not one to break promises,
I don't want to hurt you but I need to breathe.
At the end of it all, you're still my best friend,
But there's something inside that I need to release.
Which way is right, which way is wrong,
How do I say that I need to move on?
You know we're heading separate ways.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There's nothing I can really say.
I can't lie no more, I can't hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I'll be on my way.
You've given me more than I can return,
Yet there's oh so much that you deserve.
There's nothing to say, nothing to do.
I've nothing to give,
I must live without you.
You know we're heading separate ways.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There's nothing I can really say.
I can't lie no more, I can't hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I'll be on my way.
So I'll be on my way.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There's nothing that I can really say.
I can lie no more, I can hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I'll be on my way.
So I'll be on my way.
So I'll be on my way.

You know I'm not one to break promises,
Percy Jackson was strong. He was very, bvery strong, but sometimes he just couldn't take it. After everything they he and his friends had been through-after everything that had happened-he found himself on the edge of a pit, the darkness pulling him in, and he couldn't pull himself back out.
No one knew. No one cared. No one heard his screams at night.
This was his oath. This was his promise. He would never burden someone with his pains.
"Percy?"
A gruff, deep voice filled with sleep filled the entirety of the Zeus cabin, where Percy was sleeping.
The arms around his waist tightened and Percy buried himself into the shoulder of the man, and started to weep.
I don't want to hurt you, but I need to breathe.
A large hand began to caress his hair, his face, dry lips pressed against his forehead, against his own lips.
"Jason-"
His voice broke.
Deep breath, Percy. In, out.
"What is it, Percy?"
Percy knew it would hurt, but he didn't want Jason to get hurt worse.
"I've had enough of this nonsense. Either you finish your relationship with that boy, or I will punish you harder than I ever had before! I will kill him and make you watch as the life drains from his eyes! I will hold you in my arms, and you will have no one to turn to and cry to except me! Your so called enemy."
At the end of it, you're still my best friend.
"Jason, I...I need to break up with you."
"W-what?"
"I'm sorry, I-"
Percy sobbed, and Jason, not knowing what to do, his heart breaking itself, pulled the smaller boy into him, feeling the body tense up in his embrace.
"Sh, Perce. It's alright, I got you, nothing is going to happen to you. It's okay, I'm not mad at you, we can still be friends. You'll always be one of my best friends."
But there's something inside that I need to release.
"Jason?"
"Yeah, Perce?"
His hands ran up and down the sea prince's back, trying to calm him.
"Can we still do this?"
"Do what, Percy?"
"This. The cuddling, the hands..."
Percy felt a smile on the top of his head.
"Of course."
He's glad. He knows he'll always have someone to turn to in Jason.
Which way is right, which way is wrong?
He knows it's not right, though. Best friends don't do this...do they? Is it okay? But it feels good...
It can't not be okay...
How do I say that I need to move on?
You know we're heading separate ways.
Percy never saw Jason after that night. He only ever saw him during Capture-the-Flag, and it was only for a moment.
Jason was moving on from him.
Maybe he needs to do the same.
And it feels like I'm just too close to love you.
There's nothing I can really say.
I can't lie no more, I can't hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I'll be on my way.
"Are you ready?"
He'd never be ready. Not for this.
He screamed as the man invaded him.
"Stop it! Stop! Please stop!"
He sobbed and wailed, but stop the man would not.
He wanted Jason. Jason, Jason, Jason!
But they are just best friends. Nothing more. Nothing less. You can't love your best friend. Besides, they have gone their separate ways.
You've given me more, than I can return,
Yet there's so much more that you deserve.
Jason was Percy's lighthouse on a stormy sea. Saving the sailor from its eminent doom of the sharp rocks.
Jason was his beacon of Hope. His only chance at a normal life.
Jason deserved better than a worthless piece of trash that Percy is. Percy just takes up space. Jason deserves better than him.
There's nothing to say, nothing to do.
I've nothing to give,
I must live without you.
You know we're heading separate ways.
The end of summer is coming near and soon Percy must begin to pack. He will have to go to school soon. He'll miss everyone.
He'll miss Annabeth, Grover, Thalia, Nico, Piper, Hazel, Frank, Leo...Jason.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There's nothing I can really say.
I can't lie no more, I can't hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I'll be on my way.
The car beeps, and Percy hurries down Half-Blood hill, the thought of seeing his mother in his mind.
He loads his bags into her car, Paul helping him.
"Mom, I need to go say bye to someone..."
"Alright, sweetie, take your time."
Percy runs up the hill, to the tall blonde figure watching by Thalia's Tree.
He stops short.
"Jason..."
The blonde boy tens his head to look at him, and offers the Raven haired boy a wry smile.
"Percy."
"Jason..."
So I'll be on my way.
He turns around, and starts to head back to the car, but changes his mind. He turns around sharply and a tear slowly trails down his face. His eyes wells up in a pool of tears, and he launches himself at the blonde boy.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There's nothing I can really say.
I can't lie no more, I can't hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I'll be on my way.
The boy wraps his arms around him, and grunts as he catches him.
Percy begins to weep into his shoulder, as the blonde boy hesitantly caresses his hair.
"He'll never love you again. You belong to me."
Percy's shoulders shook-with fear, with joy, with sadness-as he cried.
"No. I belong to no one."
"Percy..."
"Jay-"
His voice broke.
"Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason-"
He sobbed and wept, and his mother watched worriedly from her car.
Jason sighed and pressed his lips against the other boy's forehead, holding him tighter than ever before.
"It's okay, we're okay, everything is okay."
"Okay?"
"Okay."
Words that reconcile loved ones, touches that warm the heart. Salty tears of aching sadness, longing when hands part.
Of joy and sadness, of woes and fears. Of brinks of madness, of love...of tears.
The fate of one, joined by none, but aching heart repaired.
The sadness of the broken one,
Gone at last...and now there's none.
So I'll be on my way.
The blonde boy gently took Percy's hands in his, and walked him to his mother's car.
He opened the door for him and Percy got in his eyes longing for the boy that once haunted his conscience.
"I'll always be here for you, Percy."
"Jason..."
"I still love you Percy."
A fury of lips and hands. The joining of two souls. Forgiveness is evident, and love is once again present.
Sally Jackson coughs, and both boys blush.
Jason places a small blue package in Percy's hands.
He kisses Percy's cheek.
He closes the door, and waves to the family, as they drive away,
Percy looks down at the box, no bigger than his hands. Slowly he lifts the lid.
One of Leo's new phones. A blue one. He smiles at the thought. Jason...
He turns it on and opens the contacts, the first one on his list:
💙Jason
He looks back, and stares at the distant figure of a boy on a hill, and he smiles.
So I'll be on my way.
