Wings
Dr. Paula finished checking my back. She stood there silently for a moment, then said, "Don't worry, it's not bad, the bumps are vestigial wings. You are the sixth case I've had this month. It's a fairly common condition among adolescents. Though hers are far more developed than anyone I've ever seen." "Can they be removed," My mother asked. "Yes, but it's a risky procedure that may do worse damage."
"Oh...," Mother sighed.
"You are free to leave, Lily," she said.

When I got home, I went to my room, dazed. Vestigial wings? How did I get those? How did Mom not know that I was going to get them? There was only one thing to do now. I shut the door to my room, and sat in my desk chair, in front of my computer. In the search bar, I typed, "Vestigial wings", and got about 13 relevant hits, the rest were about that Maximum Ride series. Which reminds me, I have to read the first book in the series this summer. So I went over to Amazon and purchased the book. I went back to my search results and clicked on the first relevant hit. It was cleverly named 'wingsonpeople.com' and seemed to be a blog.
I know, it's bad, but I've never written a book before. Let me know what you think.
