CHAPTER TWO
JONATHAN
I pulled my hood up over my head, huffing as I entered Wilson Memorial High School, otherwise know as h*ll. I shoved my hands in my jeans, staring at my old, beaten up sneakers. The laces were fraying and the generic color of white had been stained to a dull gray. The off-brand kicks weren't the prettiest of sights, but they were trusty and I had a sneaking suspicion they brought me luck. Whether it was good luck or bad luck, I hadn't decided.
As I slumped my way to my locker on the far end of the left wing hallway, I felt an arm sling across my shoulders. I glanced sideways to see who it was, a scowl already forming in my face.
"What the f*ck do you want, Reynolds?" I spat, really not in the mood for the annoying slime ball.
"Language, Miller!" Reynolds sang, laughing afterwards.
"I'm not joking around. Get the h*ll away from me, you f*cktard," I growled, removing his arm from my body.
"Awwww... What crawled up your @ss this morning?" Reynolds pouted, still trailing me.
I froze. Nothing crawled up my a$$, I crawled up someone else's a$$. I shivered before continuing on.
My eyes slid over to Reynolds. Devin Reynolds wasn't exactly repulsive looking, I mean, most girls found him quite attractive, but his actions were completely random, and he only cared about himself. Not to mention he was rich, spending all his money on random sh*t while I worked my a$$ to pay my rent for my mom and little sister.
"Hey man, you still there? Whatever. I could really use your help with this next deal, though..." He flashed me his famous 'Reynolds Crocodile Smile'.
"No. I told you, I'm not doing that stuff anymore. It's illegal, and you're going to land yourself in jail." I said distastefully.
"You sure? This will land you big bucks, Miller. Little Jamie and Ma could use that extra change. $800. Come on, Jon," Reynolds batted his lashes at me.
My heart picked up as I considered my options. I could deny his offer and go on with my life, struggling to get a raise in the oil shop. Or I could accept and take some of the worry off my mom. But if I got caught, it would all be over... Clearing my head of the risks, I turned to Reynolds.
"Deal."
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>
As I strode down the hallway to the cafeteria, my eyes searched desperately through the crowd for a certain someone who had disappeared on me the day before. I had forgotten about him this morning, but I was set on finding him now.
Then I saw them- not him because all the populars ran in clusters. He was surrounded by Julius Pavinsky, the biggest homophobe you will ever meet who just so happened to be the running back on the football team, Pauline Clark, a flirty twig of a cheerleader and girlfriend of Clark Pauley, Clark Pauley basketball champ and boyfriend of Pauline Clark, and Amanda Winston, the sl*ttiest b*tch you will ever meet, also happened to be head cheerleader. In the middle of the group stood him. Alistair King. He pretty much was a king, ruling the school as star quarterback, senior class valedictorian, and definitely the most charming boy in school. He wasn't quite as annoying as the other populars, but he still got on my nerves.
He was laughing at something Julius had just said, his shining white pearls flashing. His golden locks of hair fell perfectly around his face, and his blue eyes sparked with amusement. A stab of jealousy prodded at my gut. He had friends to laugh with. He didn't have to support his family. He was beautiful, and everyone who laid eyes on him worshiped him. He had money and didn't have to fight to have enough extra money for a doll for his little sister. He didn't have to stay up all night, struggling to read a simple passage as the words flowed off the page. Everything came to him so easily. His life was perfect.
I pushed aside the green-eyed monster thoughts as I stepped forward, weaving myself through the crowd to the populars. I needed to talk to Alistair to straighten out what the h*ll had happened yesterday and the night before.
As I walk up, I clear my throat. All five sea of eyes turn to me, burning and judging. Julius was the first to speak, his deep voice rumbling with annoyance.
"Who the f*ck are you and what the f*ck do you want, p*ssy?"
"Oh shut up, Julius. Don't call everyone one a p*ssy, everybody knows you can't get one." Amanda rolled her eyes, admiring her perfect nails.
"Uh- I'm not here to talk about girls vaginas, but can I borrow-" I was interrupted by Amanda who gasped, finally looking at me.
"Jon? I haven't seen you in ages! I've missed you!" She squealed, striding over to me in her 6 inch heels.
I blinked, staring down at her outfit. She was dressed in her cheerleading uniform, as she often did when she had practice after school. WMHS was plastered across her chest, drawing attention to her nicely sized breasts. The bright red looked well on her, and the short skirt showed off her long tanned legs. She wrapped her arms around me, making me feel entirely uncomfortable.
"Hi Amanda. Sorry, I haven't kept in touch. Been kinda busy. Hey, I need to talk to-" I was cut off again as she silenced me with her finger.
She rose herself up even further to place a peck on my cheek. I frowned at her, not understanding her intentions. Amanda and I had once been the best of friends. We lived right next to each other in an old, rundown part of town. Her drunkard father abused Amanda and her mother, Lauren. I had experienced some of the same issues and could relate with her. We always had each other's backs until one day Amanda moved. Lauren finally had enough of it with her husband and broke it off with him, moving in with her rich new boyfriend. Amanda and I drifted apart from each other as we soon fell into quite different friend groups. She arose from the ashes and I just kept getting kicked back down on the dirt.
"Jonny, we should go on a date sometime, right? Could you walk me to my next class?" She batted her lashes at me.
I was about to say yes and just talk to Alistair later when he finally spoke up. His voice quieted everyone, a certain way he said made it seem that you just had to obey him.
"Actually, I think me and Jonathan need to have a little talk..."
$$ Yay! Second chapter! Whoop whoop! That's all for now. Talk to ya later, buddies! Thanks for all the love and support! $$
