Doubt
Virgil stirred, turning over to cuddle into the body that pressed against his. He just let himself sit there for a moment, taking in the smell of his cuddling partner.
He didn't get to enjoy it for long although, for as his eyes fluttered open he found himself face to face with the last person he would expect himself to be seen cuddling with, Roman Sanders.
Roman's eyes were shut lightly, his lips in a small pout. Virgil could feel Roman's hands wrapped around him but didn't dare to look, he feared the smallest movements would cause him to wake up, and he was not mentally prepared for that kind of embarrassment. He could feel Roman's breath on his face, and he wondered how it still smelt so good after not brushing it for so long. Probably magic.
He felt like going into a complete panic though once he saw Roman's eyes start slowly open. Virgil shut his eyes tight and hoped that Roman didn't notice. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest and there was no doubt in his mind that Roman could feel it.
"Virgil?" Roman muttered groggily, "You awake?"
Virgil hesitantly opened his eyes, a shy smile forming on his lips. Roman smiled back, exchanging a good morning to him.
Roman turned to look over at the other two sides, "You think they're still asleep?"
Virgil sighed, "Probably not, Logan wakes up at like five am in the morning. They're bound to be awake by now."
Roman pressed his lips tightly together, his face contorting into something which could only be described as jealousy. He wanted to ask Virgil how on earth he knew this but decided against it. If they were ever going to get along, they needed to have at least one conversation that didn't end in constant bickering.
"I think that Logan and Patton would make a cute couple," Virgil said absentmindedly, his arm draped over his eyes. He looked still half asleep, and he probably was. All this stress was definitely tiring him out.
Roman smiled, "I think so too." Roman felt his heart leap in his chest, does this mean that Virgil doesn't like Logan? That's wonderful news! Roman felt like he was getting closer and closer to calling Virgil's his. He let his mind wander to what it would be like when they get back. Would Virgil and he get together? Roman smiled at the thought, letting himself imagine what it would be like.
His thoughts were cut short by feeling something plop onto his chest.
"Ah!" Roman exclaimed, feeling whatever was dropped onto his chest start to crawl around.
Then from a few feet away, he heard what could only be Patton's giggle.
"I got you!" Patton exclaimed giddily, "I didn't think it would work! Look at the little guy? Isn't he adorable? Guess what his name is? You'll never guess what his name is!"
Roman laughed, glad to see everyone so happy this morning. He turned to look at Virgil, who was already smiling at him.
"What's his name?" Virgil asked, shifting his body so that he was sitting up.
"Norbert!" Patton said, holding it up so that Roman and Virgil could look at it and give it a little pat.
Roman's eyes darted up to look at Patton, "Are you serious? You named it after the dragon from Harry Potter? Patton, that's amazing! Although I would have named it Mushu."
"I should have named it Mushu!" Patton exclaimed, holding it close to him. "Logan hates that I named it, he told me we could eat it!"
Roman paused for a moment, leave it to Logan to know a strange fact like that. Honestly, it wasn't a half-bad idea. Although, he doubted Patton would ever let that happened. He decided to just leave it be.
Roman and Virgil climbed out of the tent, avoiding eye contact as their bodies bumped into each other in their attempts to get out.
"Are we doing the same thing tonight?" Roman asked, examining something on his thumb. His eyes glanced upwards but he quickly darted his gaze back down, examining how dirty his shoes were getting from all the sand rubbing against them.
"Sure," Virgil chucked awkwardly, completly unaware of what was yet to come.
