Chapter 3

Dean sat beside the man at the bus stop. Of course he didn't know he was sitting next to anyone at all.

He forgot to get his coffee this morning so he was a bit tired then usual and sometimes his thumb would hit the wrong key on his phone and it would auto correct to something different.

He kept apologizing at the wrong words that it would send but the person he was texting didn't care.

Maybe Dean wasn't just tired, maybe he was exhausted. He'd stayed up all night, which he did every night for the past year. Dean was lucky to get three hours of sleep in a night.

~~

Dean sat beside the hospital bed, like he did every night. After work was over he'd come down to the hospital and stay there all night. It had become routine for him.

But he didn't complain. How could he? He stayed up all night watching his brother in the hospital bed, making sure he was alright. He'd doze off and at most get three hours in. Then he'd get waken up by the shuffling of a nurse giving his brother more medicine.

Sam had been in this hospital for almost a year now. Dean was saddened more than he could convey, but he held it all in like always. His brother would be gone. The doctors said it could be two weeks or two months. They didn't know.

He got up in the morning and kissed his brother's forehead before heading off to his job as an FBI agent.

~~

The bus he usually took beeped it's horn and Dean startled awake. He hadn't even realized he'd dozed off. He quickly gathered his things and jogged onto the bus.

The little boy sat on the ground at the park crying. He'd fallen off of the swing and skinned his knee. He didn't know where his mother went but he wanted her to fix it.

He wasn't crying loudly, but his eyes were shut tight and tears were streaming down his face.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and he opened his eyes to see a boy about two years older than him smiling down at him.

"Are you okay?"

He asked. The boy shook his head and motioned towards his knee.

"I fe-fell off the swing."

He murmured through his tears. The older boy knelt down beside him and pressed his long sleeved shirt sleeve to the bleeding wound. The younger boy winced but the tears had stopped.

"What's your name?"

The older boy asked.

"C-Castiel."

The younger boy said shyly.

"That's an interesting name. But it's cool. I'm Dean."

The older boy smiled and Castiel couldn't help to give a small grin as well.

Castiel's mother finally came over and picked him up, thanking Dean and walking off with her young son.

~~

Castiel had forgotten his book and it was quite sad. He'd have to go through work without it and that was even more depressing.

He'd spend days at work sitting around at different intervals and reading until he was called upon for another job.

Lately he'd been busy though so he'd be fine. Hopefully, he thought as he climbed onto his bus and sitting on the uncomfortable seat to go to the hospital where he worked as a nurse.
