It was a bumpy ride, cause mom was driving. It smelled like old rubber and rotting meat in the old, silver mini van. "Mom! Spark is taking up too much space!" A little girl with long black braids shoved Spark away from her. The mom looked irritated. She pulled over and told the kids, "Open the door and you can get rid of that saggy fur ball." The girl with braids happily pushed the dog out of the car. "Bye Spark!" She called out.

There was left a white dog, with small brown spots on his paws, and tan splotches on his back. The dog had one green eye and the other was blue. The dog watched the car drive away and was left alone, on the corner of the inter section, occasionally the light would go to green, then red, then yellow.

"Ya soft skins dumped ya, eh?" The dog turned around to see a tan cat with neat brown markings. "I can see why, It looks like you ran through a can of paint!" The cat sat neatly on a white fence. Her tail wrapped around her paws. "Left alone, a stray."

"Whats a .. st..ray?"The dog asked. "Why, its what happens when soft skins take in bad dogs, give them a cute name, don't like them anymore, throw on a random street. They are, survivors, rouges, loners, all for one and everyone to them selves." The dog got up and said, "Well I have a family, and they called me Spark.

"Which one of the soft skins came up with that name? The kit?" She jumped down from the fence and walked up to the dog. "The names Sassy. Or, it used to." She walked up to Spark and swished her tail in his face. "My owners tied me up to a rope and left me alone, they thought that piece of junk could hold me? Do ya?" She shook her head. "Un uh." She walked around the corner. "Follow me dog!" Spark got up and protested, "How do you know I wont eat you?" Sassy stopped and looked at him. "I would love t see you try."

Spark followed Sassy down the street and into an alley. "New stray!" She called out. Several animals started to move around and come out. "Who are you?" A rat like animal ran up to Spark. It had slimy fur and sharp claws. "Get away Sly, the last thing he needs is your influence." Sassy walked passed the creature to another cat. 

"What brings you here, Lillith?" A black cat with a grey star shaped marking on her head started talking. "I heard you are now the leader of the strays, sis." Sassy gave an approving nod. "Ya did, did ya?" Sassy's brown paws made light padding sounds on the cold concrete.

"Let us all welcome Spark!" All of the animals stared as Spark walked up behind Sassy and then sat down. "What ya waitin for, tell them why your soft skins dumped ya!" Spark looked uneasy and slouched down a bit. "I don't know why they dumped me." The animals seemed stunned.

"Well that was really not impressive!" Spark saw a shadow moving towards him through the crowd, he could not make out who, or what it was. "Ya told me you were never comin back!" Sassy hissed at the new animal.
