They finally got to the infirmary after finding a way for Sunny to walk comfortably.

Which was Meerkat wrapping a wing around her and Sunny leaning on him.

And if you asked her, she didn't mind at all.

No one was inside, so Meerkat pretended it was his own medical office and helped Sunny onto a stone with camel fur.

Her talon hung loosely at the edge of the table while Meerkat went into doctor mode and started examining it.

"It looks like a grade 1 sprain, nothing too bad. As long as you don't apply pressure on it for about two weeks it should be fine. We should go send for some cold water too," he said.

All the time, Sunny just gazed at him with admiration. She was so in lost with his eyes, that she couldn't recall half of what he had said.

"Hot... yeah," she murmured dreamily.

Meerkat gave her a perplexed look. "No, Sunny. The hot water isn't the solution. Did I say I hot? I meant cold, I'm sorry," he said with small frown.

Sunny's eyes widened as she finally took in what she said.

"NO! I-I mean, you didn't say h-hot. I said hot, cause uh... you're hot! No! Wait, not like that! I meant your scales, cause you're a Sandwing right? Of course you are! I mean, why wouldn't you be?" The princess managed to stammer out.

Her intense, orange blush clearly portrayed her embarrassment at her herself, and her eyes strayed to the ground.

"Uh... sure. We can go with that too," Meerkat replied with a cheeky grin and a blush of his own.

Sunny shyly smiled at him, and it turned into a full, wide grin when his laughter rang out from the walls in the room.

Meerkat exclaimed with a wide smile, "Princess Sunny of the SandWings, you are officially the most adorable dragon I've ever met!"

Sunny blushed even harder, so much that her face was starting to turn a deep orange instead of gold.

Meerkat ended up wrapping her talon in some bandages that had been stored somewhere in a shelf.

Sunny's talon hurt, but it wasn't too bad that she had to stay in her room all day.

Meerkat checked her talon once more before declaring that she was free to go.

"Thanks Meerkat, I-uh... don't know what I c-could've done without y-you," Sunny stated as they walked out of the infirmary.

He gave her yet another cheeky grin, and the princess's heart hitched in her throat.

How did he manage to do that? It was almost surreal.

Meerkat let Sunny lean on him so that she didn't have to walk on her bad talon, and Sunny loved the way his scales against her own felt.

They finally reached her room, and that's when the realization of Meerkat leaving hit the hybrid princess.

"Well, Sunny, it was a great pleasure seeing you," Meerkat said.

Sunny simply stared at him crestfallen, the thought of Meerkat leaving almost unbearable.

He noticed her facial expression and quickly added, "Don't worry, I'll be back by tonight to check up on you. That is, if the guards let me through."

Sunny could squeal with relief.

"Yeah, umm, I'll make sure to t-tell them," she stammered.

Meerkat leaned in and gave her a slight kiss on the cheek. During those two seconds that it lasted, Sunny didn't even breath.

"See you later Sunny!" He said over his shoulder with an adorable smile and a caring look in his pitch black eyes.

She looked at him go until he turned a corner, and then plopped down on pile of camel skins and began to think about her and Meerkat for the rest of the day.
