Training

In the morning even Shin and Henry had a hard time getting him up. It took Shin's water magic to finally wake him. He rubbed his eyes and looked around confused. It's been a long time since he's slept that hard and it felt refreshing.

"Hmm, no fireballs today, that's a good start," Shin said. He rolled his eyes saying that he doesn't consistently throw fire balls every time he wakes up. It only happens when he's startled awake during a nightmare. "Well anyways, Get changed we have lots to do today. Time for you to get breakfast and get started," he added. He changed out of his now soaked clothes and headed down to the table.

Once they were done eating breakfast and finished washing the dishes he sighed. Now was a good of time as any to tell them.

"There is something I want to say to you both before we get started. I've made up my mind and decided to do it. I want to be a Magic Knight," he said, "And before you ask it's not because of the girl. I'm just tired of hiding and tired if running from my past. Though, she called me a coward and I sort of told her that I'd prove her wrong in a year, I hope that's okay with you both," he mumbled.

"It's fine with us, but you sure you can handle the training?" Shin said with a mischievous grin on his face. He said he'd definitely try. Nodding they headed out.

Once they opened the door they ran into Leo, who was about to knock. He helped him up as he fell. Once sure Leo was okay he obviously asked him why he was there.

"My sister is leaving a little later today and she asked me to give this letter to you. I didn't want to loose it so I figured I'd bring it over right away," he said handing him an envelope, "I wish she could stay longer, she just got here." He took the envelope confused why Anna would write him a letter. He knew she probably had to leave because her missions were done. He sighed and then ruffled the boys hair to try and cheer him up a little.

"I know you love your sister a lot, but she has work to do. She does it to keep you and others safe. You'll see her again, she's not going to forget about you," He said trying to cheer the boy up a little more. He could practically feel the boy's sadness about the situation.

Leo sighed and nodded, then out of the blue asked if he and his sister liked each other. His two masters laughed and he even let a chuckle escape as well. He could see where the kid would get that idea. After all she took the time to write him a letter before leaving.

"Not at all, Kid. Lets just say we have a mutual interest in keeping a certain someone out of trouble," He said ruffling the kids hair again, "Anyways, Leo, I have to get back to training now. You should go spend time with Anna before she leaves. Tell her I said bye, okay?" He added.

Nodding, Leo ran off. He mumbled to himself that that kid was a handful. Of course his teachers had to mess with him about what Leo had said.

"Looks like our little Jax has a girlfriend," The Old Man teased and he sighed saying it wasn't like that at all. He shoved the letter into his pocket and they headed out to train. This time next year he'll leave for the Capitol for the Entrance Exams and he knew it wasn't going to be an easy year.

After a harsh day of training they headed home to eat dinner and rest. Once he made it back to his room he opened Anna's letter. It simply said:

Good luck, hope to see you in one year. Take care of yourself and my brother. Again, I promise not to tell a soul, your secret is safe with me.

~Anna Sheppard

P.S. We'll see if you can handle a gun by the time we see each other again.

He laughed at the note and sighed. Challenge accepted, Anna. Well, there was no turning back now even if he wanted to.
