16. Couldn't get enough
CHAPTER 16. Couldn’t get enough
The evening was chilly just like the afternoon as it rained for a while. Light breezes were flowing and the atmosphere was silent. The streets had the present of only a few people who might be there to enjoy their Friday evening.
The street we were passing through was new to me; I had discovered a very little part of the beautiful city but I was surprised that I missed this particular place. It was just so peaceful and reminded me of home.
The distant voice of the shop’s bells ringing was such a great sound to listen to. The path was surrounded by small shops; the roofs of all the shops were connected by light fairy lights, making the scene even more beautiful.
To be honest, this was one of the most beautiful and warm place you could ever find in a city.
“This place is amazing, how did you find it?” I asked Ian while we were walking our way to the café he told me about.
He shrugged his shoulders while looking down at the ground and spoke,”I don’t know. I was feeling very home sick one day so I was roaming aimlessly and what I didn’t realize that I walked quite away from the main city and that’s when I found this place.”
“Wow, that sounds so filmy.” I chuckled, followed by Ian.
“But seriously, this place is beautiful. Thanks for bringing me here.” I said, looking in his direction.
He raised his head toward me from the ground and spoke, “My pleasure.”
I smiled at him and looked away to examine the surrounding shops. Most of them were related to food and flowers.
I fixed my scarf and took a deep breath. The chilliness was increasing as the night was coming on its way. I was feeling a lot better than the morning but I still looked like crap with dark circles and no matter how hard I tried to cover them up with makeup, they such pop up again.
Ryan’s response to Ian’s phone call sure grabbed my attention. He never used to believe this way, he was never the jealous types, even when we were dating so I knew there was something else that was disturbing him and not the fact that I was going somewhere with Ian.
Only God knows what goes in that head of that Devil
“So, how far is the café?” I asked, listening to our footsteps on the wet ground.
“Just a few shops away.”
“It’s good that we decided to walk instead of coming here from a car. It wouldn’t be so much fun then.” I stated.
“True but you would be tired by the time we get back.” he said politely.
“Nah, this place is worth the struggles.”
We reached the café after a few minutes. Ian walked to the door and kept it opened for me to walk in.
“After you.” he said in his thick British accent and I giggled like a little girl and entered in after thanking him.
There was something about British accent that was so fucking attractive that you couldn’t help but act like a fangirl when someone speaks in one.
“What happened?” Ian chuckled, following me to the table.
“Nothing.” I giggled again and sat down opposite to him.
”It’s a self-service café so I’ll go and order, what do you want?” Ian asked, getting up from his seat.
“I’ll come with you.”
We stood in front of the counter and looked at the menu on the wall.
There was a huge list of the different types of coffees and other beverages, along with some snacks.
“I’ll get a donut and frappe, you?” I asked Ian cheerfully, leaning to the counter.
“I’ll get the same then.” he said and called the attendant to give our orders. After ordering, we went back to sit at our table.
“So, how’s college going?” Ian asked, getting comfortable on this seat. There was a big glass window adjacent to our table and we could enjoy the pleasant scene as well.
“It’s going good luckily. Less scary that I thought.” I joked.
Ian chuckled and spoke,”Why did you think it would be scary?”
“You know, new place, new people, the word ‘new’ can be very frightening sometimes.” I chuckled at my own words, followed by Ian.
The electronic machine on the wall showed number 56 which was our order number so Ina got up and spoke,”I’ll get it.”
I nodded and as he went to take the food, I engaged myself with the view of the beautiful town but seemed like my dad had other plans because my phone began to ring.
“Hey dad.” I greeted.
“Hi princess, how are you?”
“Good, you?”
“Sad because I miss my two daughters to death.” he said.
“I miss you too dad.” I said softly, I actually misses him a lot and I missed the times when he used to act goofy to make us laugh or play dumb to keep all of us entertained. But most importantly, whenever he used to stay up all night to look after me whenever Sage or I were sick. Even if he was sick himself, he would care about us more than himself. And was why my dad was the best dad in the world!
“When are you coming here Jady?”
“I don’t know dad, I don’t think I would be able to make it this weekend as college’s on for Saturday as well. But I promise to visit you the next one.”
“Okay, I’ll see if I could come meet you as well. Take care of yourself.”
“You too dad.”
“I’ll hung up now as my assistant has been eating my head up for the meeting, I’ll call you later. Love you princess.”
I chuckled and said the last words,”Love you too.” and then hung up.
“You love whom?” I didn’t realize that Ian came back and was looking at me with amused eyes.
“Not you of course.” I said teasingly which was supposed to be a joke.
“I know I can’t be that lucky.” he said, leaning to his side of the table.
I was surprised to hear what he said, I wasn’t expecting him to say something like that.
Ian looked away from the window to me and saw my confused expression and spoke,”I was kidding Jade. You were joking as well, can’t I joke?”
I sighed in relief and passed him an annoyed smile, gaining a chuckle from him.
“Ah, here you go.” he said, passing the cup of coffee and the donut in my direction.
“Thanks.” I said and took a sip form the cup. The taste was heavenly, it was better than any big franchisee’s coffee but yet it wasn’t given so much importance or appreciation which was quite sad.
“It’s damn good.” I complimented, looking at the blond boy in front of me.
“Thank you very much.”
I narrowed my eyes at him and asked,”Why should I thank you?”
“Because I discovered this place for you.” he said smirking, there was an amused tone in his voice.
“Just because Newton discovered about Gravity doesn’t mean he invented it.”
Ian chuckled. Pointing a finger in my direction, he spoke, “That’s a good way of stating it.”
I shrugged my shoulders proudly and we began talking about random things.
“So, how do you like playing football? I mean in Yorkshire, you must be playing Soccer.” I asked.
“I joined it to get myself busy. I don’t actually like it. It’s played with hands and a thing which is in a shape of an egg so I don’t understand why they call it ‘football’. It should be called ‘Hand Egg’.”
I laughed at his adorable explanation about the sport and said, “That’s actually kind of true.”
“Yeah, I like the ‘real’ football better, you know the one played with feet and an actual ball?” he said.
I nodded my head laughing.
“But I have to say, the team’s amazing. They’re all like my brothers.” he said proudly.
I smiled at him and spoke,”Really? That’s a good thing that you found good friends here.”
“Yeah, we all practise together all the time, it’s normal to share a strong bond huh?”
“Yeah.” I spoke softly, looking at his face that suddenly looked more brightened up because of talking about his friends.
“You know, when I passed from my first year of college and didn’t want to live in that bloody dorm room, Ryan was the guy who helped me the most. He found me a decent place, helped me arrange the place and visited quite frequently to check if everything was going fine.”
I smiled at him with thoughts about Ryan going on in my mind. Ryan has always been the kind of guy who would do anything for his friends and family.
“That guy is great.” Ian exhaled with a big smile on his face.
“He really is.” I said dreamily.
“Huh? You know Ryan?” he asked.
I woke myself up from dreaming of Ryan and sat straight,”Um, yeah. I do.”
“How?” he asked with interest.
“We were in the same high school, same city.” I explained.
“Wow, that’s great. Then you two must be great friends.” he said with a hope in his voice.
“Yeah, you can say that.” I said.
Friends weren’t the only thing we were buddy!
He smiled and nodded his head in acknowledgment, while I tried my best not to laugh.
“What happened?” he said with a chuckle at the end.
“Nothing.”
We finished our food and were about to walk out when it began to drizzle.
“Bloody hell. We should have brought a car.” Ian cursed in pure British accent, which made me giggle again. I didn’t happen every time he spoke; it was just some specific words which sounded better from a mouth of a British person.
“Why are you giggling again?” he asked.
I chuckled and spoke,”You said ‘Bloody hell’, that’s like so British.”
He laughed in his melodious voice and shook his head.
“That’s all good but how are we supposed to go now?” he spoke, looking outside to the light drizzling that was turning into heavy pouring.
“We’ll catch a taxi.” I suggested.
Ian nodded his head and then we went to my apartment.
We reached there in around half an hour and it was still raining, in fact, it was much more heavier.
“I’ll walk you inside.” Ian said while we were still in the taxi.
“No need, I’ll go. You’ll get wet if you will come outside.” I stated, turning to open the door.
“And let you go alone? No way, I’ll get wet better.” he said making me chuckle. He got off the taxi before me and rushed to my side to open the door.
“No need for the formality right now Ian, you’ll get sick.” I chuckled softly.
“A little rain can’t harm me.” he stated proudly and I arched my eyebrows in agreement.
The cold raindrops hit my body, making me shiver a little.
“Run Jade, run.” Ian screamed playfully.
We ran toward the apartment laughing our heart out, while the raindrops kept hitting us.
“Pass it on brother.” Dillan’s voice said from distance.
I looked at the direction of the voice and found a few silhouettes playing in the ground of our society.
“That’s Dillan right?” Ian asked.
“Yeah, I guess so.” I answered. We were standing in the rain and were looking in the direction of the park, where the boys were playing.
“Are they playing football?” Ian said, not like a question but a statement.
“I’m going to go join them.” he said happily and began to run toward the others.
“Hey, what happened to ‘let you go alone’ thing you said before?” I said with amusement.
“I almost dropped you home, you can join us if you want.” he chuckled, turning back to look at me while running.
“No thanks. I’ll better get home. Thanks for the amazing treat.” I yelled in the rain to the running Ian.
“It was worth it Jade, bye.” he spoke the last words and rushed away, removing his shirt in the process.
“Whoa, nice body you got there boy.” I said to myself.
I stayed a little longer to find out who were playing there.
I walked a little closer to the boys and found out that Ash, Dillan, Ryan, Garry and Ian were the players
I watched them for a while and smiled to myself after seeing Ryan so happy. He was laughing and playing without any care in the world.
Don’t know how but his attention went to me and he looked at me with a smirk.
I waved at him as the rain water began to make me shiver even more. He returned the gesture but added another action to it which surprised me
My jaw dropped on the ground at his action.
Did he just winked at me?
He left out a deep, sexy chuckle and went back to the game.
I stood there, staring at him. His wet hair swirl every time he took a sharp turn, the rain drops passed through his handsome face toward his drool worthy chest and that was when I forced myself to look away.
Stop being pervert Jade!
I took a last glance before walking away and tried to get enough of that handsome guy, but I knew that couldn’t happen, no one could get enough of Ryan and I was no exception.
