Chapter 6

At once, Sofia and I stopped dead in our tracks, warily observing the girl, who was too inhumane in appearance to be human. Pink medium lengthed hair, a smooth, flawless complexion, light freckles on the cheeks and nose, pointy ears, a full bosom and large shimmering cornflower-blue eyes, framed with long luscious eyelashes.

"Who on earth are you?" Sofia asked, backing away step by step.

"The question should be what is she." I corrected. It was very obvious just by glancing at her that she was anything but human.

The pink haired girl chuckled harmoniously. "How amusing. Now please relax, I'm not here to hurt either of you."

Sofia and I exchanged hesitant glances.

"What's your name?" Sofia inquired.

The pink haired girl grinned humorously, "I have two other sisters named Odessa and Hestia."

"And your name is...?" I pressed.

"Aira."

That's when it came to me. They were mentioned a couple times in the tales of the old legend of Elven history. How Aira, Odessa, and Hestia were called 'The Elemental Weavers' throughout not just Fealettia but athwart Eileithyia for their involvement in Khthonios's many defeats throughout the past decade.

"Anyways... about what you said earlier." I crossed my arms, "What do you mean by 'we need you'?"

Aira's expression turned morose for a slight second. "Allow me to explain. After all, seeing that you both fled at the sight of me, I can deduce you figured out on the whim that I'm not human." She chortled softly.

I snarled at her. Yet her eyes glimmered with pure amusement instead of any animosity. But I wasn't having it, I'm pretty sure anybody would have done the same thing with such a dramatic entrance.

"I, Odessa, and Hestia make up The Elemental Weavers. I'm the eldest sister and I control anything correlated with the air and wind. Odessa's the middle sister, she controls everything associated with water and the youngest of us, Hestia, controls fire. However, we all have secondary powers. I can manipulate sound, Odessa can do ice, and Hestia has the ability to control anything solar and even morph into a phoenix."

That explained some things. Why things sounded amplified when Aira arrived and why they were titled 'The Elemental Weavers'. But never did I take anything in that book seriously. I didn't expect for the Elven Realms and the Demon Realms to be existing worlds.

Aira continued, her harmonic voice flowing smoothly across the garden. "The Evoninon's cursed the Princess of Fealettia, Rosalia, with some unnamed curse. We call it 'The Sleeping Curse' because it's putting her in internal sleep. Her parents, King Bervon and Queen Theia, tried everything. Medics, healers, shamans, priests, menders... you name it. Pretty much anything and anyone who specializes in anything pertaining to curses and medicine." She acutely said.

"But it was no use. One shaman did, however, suggest a very rare and incurable form of dark witchcraft."

"Which is when you two come in." She concluded. The wind swirled endlessly around her, almost as if the air itself were reacting to her voice.

"What does this have to do with us? We're just normal humans." I skeptically asked.

Aira raised an eyebrow, dissenting, "Not as 'normal' as you'd like to perceive yourselves. We sense inner powers deep inside you both that are hidden at the moment. Powers that only you can unlock when they feel you're prepared to see them awaken."

"And how can I know that you're not just crazy and making this up? As a trap?" I enquired.

Aira's face turned downcast. "Please, I'm not manipulating you nor am I trying to lure you into a trap. You have to trust me. This affects not just us but the wall between Eileithyia, Khthonios, and the human world. If that wall is allowed to be broken apart... we're all done for." She implored.

Sofia and I glanced at each other, putting forethought into this. The thought of going to Fealettia, the capital of all the northern kingdoms in Eileithyia. I had to admit enticed me. Especially since it was no opportunity you'd get offered every day.

"I'll go. I know I'd wouldn't be able to sleep soundly at night knowing there are people that need me." I told Aira.

She contently smiled, "You have no idea how thankful we are for the fact you're eager to help. May you be blessed with that compassion." Aira and I then turned to Sofia, awaiting her response. And to my surprise, she was being the skeptical one.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't reluctant to believe all this, but since I wish to help... I'll go with you." She shyly said.

Aira gratefully took her hand, "Thank you Sofia, keep that altruism in you. You'll need it in the future. And may you be blessed with that courteousness."

"Now, just follow me through this rose bush," Aira explained, pointing to the nearest rose bush.

Diligently, we followed her into the rose bush, leading us into the woods. But that would be the sole simple part of this walk as it was filled with steep slopes and turbulent roads. The utter stillness and silence weren't making matters better either.

After approximately thirty-eight minutes, Aira spoke once more. "In order to get to the human world, we use the secret door. This is how we transport to your human world and back in emergencies."

"The secret door?" Sofia inquired.

Aira offered her signature smile to us as she explained. "Yes indeed, the secret door. Ever since Princess Rosalia has fallen into her deathlike sleep, King Bervon had taken measures to make sure that door remained well hidden from the rest of the forest. If circumstances were more... different... it wouldn't have been necessary to take this long of a walk." She dolefully concluded, a rather morose expression on her face.

"Goodness, King Bervon must adore her very much so for him to take such drastic actions." Sofia dejectedly said.

Aira simpered sadly. "He does indeed. You see, King Bervon doted on his daughter from the day she was born. There are plenty of happy memories that they had shared together. Their bond is that unconditional..." Noticeably, Aira's face lightened up at the thought.

Sofia purses her lips thoughtfully, "How unfortunate. No father nor mother deserves to go through such tragedies with their children. Best condolences to the king and queen, even though I've haven't got yet to meet them."

But I didn't care much for that part. I was more curious about the history of Aira, Odessa, Hestia and the King and Queen. What connection did they have with the family? And how long have they known one another?

"Aira, what connection do you and your sisters have with the King and Queen?" I asked.

Aira focused her gaze on me, "I would have eventually told you both about our connections to the royal family inevitably anyways." She said, indifferently.

"Me and my sisters, like I had said previously, are called The Elemental Weavers. We were given this title around 1429 by King Hazmier, King Bervon's great-great-grandfather. Prior to that, we were three young nymphs who outlived our sisters after they were all murdered by Evonin's army. All because we refused to leave our home- The Spring Forest, so they could use it against Eileithyia."

"Every other one of our kin has fallen except us. The three of us lied there, expecting to join them in the afterworld but King Hazmier's troops came along. They identified us as nymphs that were victims to their enemies and saved us from that fate."

"But it came with a cost. In order to fully retrieve us, they had to turn us into another species, Elves. We still have attributes which come from our nymph heritage but now we are immortal. Because they saved our lives, we felt indebted to them for their kindness and voluntarily devoted ourselves to being of assistance to the royal family over the last three generations."Aira ceased both her story and her walking near a pond.

Then, she took both of our hands. "This is close enough for me to transport us to the portal."

Sofia's hand trembled and her face paled slightly, "How exactly will you transport us?"

Aira smiled gently when she heard the distress and dread in her voice. She created a tiny tornado with her hand and let it ascend our heads. "Don't fret, the wind won't harm you as long as you, in return, don't harm them."

The wind gave that feathery feeling in my chest that made me feel as if I were flying. It gently fluttered around us before Aira chanted, "Oh sacred winds, sacred winds, may you sacred winds, the embodiment of freedom, aid us in our enduring journey to the entrance of Fealettia."
