Chapter 9🌻

Lola's POV

“Stop staring!!” I told him as I rolled my eyes as he looked up from his phone and casted a glance at me before looking back at his phone uninterestedly.

Bitch!!

Not even a single compliment.

Not that I needed one but I was so used to being complimented.

“Wow, nice shape”

“Super pretty hair”

“Oh em gee, I love your fair skin”

Blah blah blah!! I was so used to it.

And the fact that this man didn't spare me a single glance hurt my ego.

I had gotten all dolled up to look the part of a well-mannered and pretty girl from an average family, like he had asked me to.

Heck, I even got my messy hair straightened and shaved my eye brows.

This was something I never did.

Ever!

I could have easy packed up my hair instead of straighten it and my brows, I never shaved them.

The thought of a sharp object being on my face freaked me out.

But Kosi had helped me with it, while I snored away at night.

I huffed out a sigh as I sat idly in this man's car.

And he didn't even pay any attention to me.

While I was shamelessly gawking over him, instead.

Honestly, he looked really good.

Like, really really good.

His hair curler than I remembered, his built body in a white shirt, with the top button left undone, making way for me to watch his Adam apple bop anytime he gulped down the bottle of water in his right hand.

And my eyes also trailed towards the little parting his lips made as he slowly poured the water into his mouth.

Holy shit!!

He was freaking hot.

What dumbass woman would have ditched this sexy and hot thing here, who was also in love with her?!

I looked towards his hands as his fingers couldn't stay still, tapping on the bottle continuously.

He was probably trying to prepare himself for even more heartbreak when he sees the woman he loved get married to another man.

I couldn't help but recap back to when I first met him.

He was completely shattered and heartbroken.

And I still took a chunk of his money away from him.

I felt a pang of guilt in my chest as I bit my lips, unconsciously.

Well, I couldn't give him back his money, at least not right now, but I could put in my best to make that bitch know she made a wrong decision.

Ohhh, speaking of money, I spoke to my cousin and it would all be sorted out soon.

I would pay all my debts, pay my sister's school fees, pay Kosi back for settling my mum's home and most importantly, bring my dad back home.

And I would do all this, without feeling guilty about robbing someone off of their money.

I was paying him back today.

Derinsola's POV

In less than an hour, Deborah was going to belong to another man.

In less than hour, I was going to watch her get married.

This thoughts clouded my head as I stared at pictures of their pre-wedding shots and couldn't help but notice her wide smile and the twinkle in her eyes.

She still looked as beautiful as ever but in this pictures her hands were wrapped around the arm of another person who wasn't me, and this made me very angry.

and sad.

Mostly angry!!

“Stop staring” I heard from opposite me as I  quickly turned my head towards her and back to my phone, without even acknowledging her presence.

Right now, her annoying and egotistical attitude weren't really distracting but irritating.

I was pissed off and I couldn't deal with her rants right now.

I just wanted to get this over with.

Last night, I had called her to add the finishing touches to this ridiculous plan.

But there was really nothing to add again.

She had come up with a wonderful background story for us and had even told Tunmise about it, so we were going with it.

We met at my office. She was a personal assistant of a client and we got attracted at first sight, went on a couple of dates and, viola, we are so in love and shit.

Love?! Love is a scam.

If anyone told me I would be whining in my head about how shitty love could be in front of a fake girlfriend, some months ago, I would have declared that person a lunatic.

But here I am.

“We are here, sir” I heard from the front seat as I squeezed against the now empty bottle rightly as I looked out the window, sighting the huge church we were parked in front of.

Camera lights flashed here and there as a huge crowd loitered around the church entrance.

“What the fuck?! We never talked about the press” I heard Lola speak out loud, with obvious discomfort laced in her words.

She better not use the f word with my parents or anyone.

I signalled the driver to take another route as I clenched my hands around my phone, feeling my body get even more uneasy.

I asked the driver to take another entrance, not only to protect this scammers private life but to shield myself from the derogatory remarks and awful questions that were going to be spat at me as soon as I walked out the car.

The one person who looked pathetic in this beautiful love story of theirs was me. I was the second male lead in their love story, who ends up looking sad and cheering their happy life on, like in the movies.

I didn't want to do that.

I wanted to burst in there and punch this actor guy in the balls, while I shoot up my middle finger at Deborah.

But I wasn't going to do that. I rather just maintain my ego and self respect and take this violent and big mouthed thief instead.

Good idea, right?!

As soon as the car stopped in the underground parking lot of the church, before I could look outside or verify if the coast was clear, the left car door had swung open and Lola had gotten out.

“Ohhh, finally!! Fresh air!” She started as she stretched her arms in the air.

“I was so sick and tired of breathing in the tension, nervousness and resentment that filled the air” She continued as I scowled at no one in particular before opening the door beside me.

As I got out, I heard my phone buzz in my hands as I checked the text message, while walking towards the dramatic lady ahead of me.

Kola

Brace yourself, guyyy! Cringey shit lies ahead o. They put Justin Bieber and Hailey to shame.

“Bullshit!” I muttered as I kept staring at the text Kola sent me.

I already hated the fact that I was coming to this wedding.

Could he not make me feel worst?!

“Hang in there, dude” I heard a whisper with a light pat accompanying it from behind that snapped me out of thoughts.

I turned my head towards her as she peeked her head over my shoulders staring at my phone.

I looked towards her hand placed on my shoulder as she stared at me with a pitiful look.

I couldn't help but notice how neat and pretty her fingers were, with the absence of a ring on them.

Her hair brushed against the side of my face and our eyes met for a split second before she suddenly pulled her hand off my shoulder as if shocked by electricity.

She moved away for a minute, before walking ahead of me and I couldn't help but notice how well fitted the dress actually looked on her.

She suddenly stopped in her steps before turning towards me and facing me, fully before telling me once again.

“Seriously, hang in there” She said again, balling both her hands into a fist for a few seconds, before dropping them back down.

A/n: You know, korean 'hwightingʼ.

I felt my eyes scrutinise every inch of her as she stood in front of me, staring at me like a lost puppy.

My gaze trailed back to her face that had a hint of difference than how she usually looked.

She didn't apply much makeup. Just a few highlights, here and there and somehow, I was able to notice those little details.

Like how her eyebrows didn't look as full as they usually were.

Her plump and full lips glistened with lip gloss she applied on them and I almost felt my self gulp at the sight of them.

Her curly and full hair had become straighter and neater and for a darn minute, I forgot about the fact I was going to watch the love of my life get married to someone else.

She was definitely beautiful, I give her that.

But, I was one to look beneath outer beauty and in this attractive lady that stood in front of me, with her pity filled eyes, were nothing but lies and a whole bunch of sluttery.

I tore my gaze off her before I dusted invisible specs of dirt off my shoulder before making my way over to her and I could easily make out the glare that replaced the pity on her face.

Lola's POV

I was almost at the entrance of the church, when Derinsola called me back, saying 'Something came upʼ and that we would go to the reception instead.

I knew it was partially because of the fact that he couldn't see his love get married and I almost shook my head at him.

Grow some balls, bro!

Stroll in there and kiss the bride on the lips as a fucking goodbye before she gets married.

Destroy the wedding and bounce out with a smug look on my face.

This was so something I could do.

It reminded me of the time my boyfriend was having sex with some little bitch behind my back and when I walked into his house and heard them moaning like cows,  I was filled with more rage than hurt.

Then I grabbed the keg of petrol he always kept at in his compound and emptied it on their heads.

No, I didn't add fire. I was an angry girlfriend not an idiot murderer.

Though, I felt extremely hurt and sad, I felt a bit satisfied with my actions.

And their faces when I poured petrol on their naked swety bodies always brought a smile to my face.

Like now, I'm smiling.

I noticed a pair of eyes on me as he glanced at me with an uncomfortable expression on his face.

“What?!” I asked as shook my body, hoping the itchiness from this dress would subside.

I hated this dress.

I really hated this.

He just ignored me before turning back to his laptop leaving me to stare idly into my phone as I sat on the couch at the corner of his dumb office.

Yep, he brought me here, claiming he needed to send an important mail.

But looking at him, I knew he was idly fiddling with his laptop keyboard.

Haeeew! What a sad man.

I could have pulled him by the ear into the church when he said we had to go but, I was the fake girlfriend.

It is none of my business.

He could even skip the whole wedding, I didn't even care but as long as I didn't get to see his dumbass face again after today and keep the money to myself.

I saw a message notification on my phone and clicked on it.

It was an unknown number:

Hey, its Tunmise.

I was hoping Derin would bring you along to the wedding but I thought I should inform you myself anyway.

Deborah is getting married.

Okay!! Yaay!

Hooray for Deborah who I didn't know shit about.

Note the sarcasm.

But the next text made my mouth gape in shock.

Deborah Johnson.

What the fuckkkkk!!!

No way!
