Some nights, he wakes to the sound of a clock ticking.Some nights, a little boy knocks on his door, clutching a worn white lamb and trembling beneath the weight of a nightmare he cannot understand.And every night, without fail, he lets him in.He tells himself it is nothing more than a child's fear. That the trembling hands, the tearful eyes, and the quiet little voice calling for him are nothing he cannot bear.After all, someone has to be there when the darkness comes.Someone has to hold the boy until he falls asleep.Someone has to promise that everything will be alright.Even if, deep down, he has long since forgotten how to believe those words himself.----------The story is based on my own trauma, and both characters represent me at different points in my life - my past self and my present self.
