Chapter 46: D.E.A.D {Demon’s letter, Eradicator’s vision, Almonds. Death plan}

I hope you'll take a peek of the picture of the previous chappie containing the CrossAides. :) It's an important part of the chapter today.

"What's with the ruckus?!" Phlox yelled in frustration.

"It can't be them again right?" Azalea asked as she desperately ran with Colt as support. 

"Idiot!" Heather yelled at Azalea. "We better get off this island and cure that wound of yours!"

The four children reached the shore and caught sight of merchant boats when a little boy of white hair near the water vehicles glanced at them.

"I've never seen that kid here in Rakuen before" Colt said as the boy sprinted towards them.

"Please get on the boats and escape" the little boy pleaded.

They did what they were told when Azalea glanced back at the burning village. "Amaryllis-chan and her family isn't here yet!" 

"Hakune-niichan and Juren-niichan will take care of that" the little boy told them but they sensed a hint of anxiety in his voice.

Their boat was the only one that survived the apocalypse of the island. The rest got caught by the men in the white suits. 

Was it luck? 

For some reason, they believed it was the white-haired boy that saved them with a miracle.

"Boy, who are you?" Phlox asked making Colt glance at the little boy.

"Tsukiren" he replied while looking at the burning town.

The children huddled themselves together in one part of the ship except for Colt who approached the little white-haired boy.

"Tsukiren-kun" Colt called his attention. 

"What is it sir?" Tsukiren asked.

Colt's eyes narrowed down but not in a dangerous way. "You may want to leave now"

"Eh?" the little boy was taken aback. 

Colt's gaze didn't change and kept a frown on his face. "You're an X-Isle am I right? Your kind shouldn't get far from big trees"

Tsukiren's smile turned upside down into a sad face. 

"You don't have to guide us" Colt kneeled to level himself with the boy's height. "You won't let anything bad happen to us, right?"

Tsukiren got surprised with Colt but this was the guy who has a special ability that uses the eyes. He can see things from afar and probably noticed the existence of X-Isles in Rakuen without making them aware of it.

"Thank you" Tsukiren bowed his head and tapped the boat as he spoke towards the water. "I'll leave them in your hands"

Creatures of the sea circled around the little merchant boat as Tsukiren looked at him with one final glance.

"I pray for your safety, there will be a couple waiting for you once your journey on the sea ends" Tsukiren said as he disappeared. 

"Colt-kun?" Azalea tapped on his shoulder and looked around. "Where did Tsukiren-kun go?"

Colt smiled and removed Azalea's hand on his shoulder. "He had to go back to his brothers"

"Eh? How did he retur-" 

Colt placed a finger on her lips and said, "Sssh. You should rest with that wound of yours. You don't want to make it bleed again"

"Tsukiren-kun helped you?" I asked them as they nodded in response.

"You know that white head?" Heather asked me.

"Yes. I know about his brothers too" I replied slightly remembering what happened with my last encounter with them.

I was on their ship and it was really spacious and nice.

The Crossaide is a group of crusaders who travel from island to island and just like what their name suggests, they aid people on the island they crossed on. Neat name huh?

I looked around and saw the guy I bumped into.

"Phlox-kun..." I called the captain of the Crossaides. 

“Yeah?” he responded.

“Who is that guy?” I pointed to the guy who bumped into me who leaned on the railings opposite to ours while gazing at the sky. “Was he along with you during that event in Rakuen?”

“That’s Pandareos. The girls call him  Panda but he prefers to be called as Reos” Phlox informed. “He was the son of the couple which were Rakuen citizens once. I think you attended their farewell party and saw him there”

I did attend one but I don’t recall seeing him there.

“I better go back inside. I need to talk to Colt about something” Phlox told me.

I nodded and said, “Okay. I might leave some time later”

“Aren’t you going to invite her to join us Phlox?” Heather glared at him.

“I’m afraid he can’t Heather-chan” Azalea’s mild voice entered the conversation.

They argued about it for a while as I lay deep in thought.

THEY’RE ALIVE.

I’m happy about that and I’d like to join their group but something’s making me stop. There’s an ongoing debate in my mind and I don’t know which to follow.

Stay, I heard Mitsuki tell me as she appeared next to me.

I glanced at her since I’m the only one who can notice her appearance.

She didn’t speak another word but those eyes of hers told me I should stay with the Heart Pirates.

A small smile of appreciation took over my face when I noticed Pandareos gazing at me with eyes that almost look like they are owned by a dead fish. Wait a sec…

Was he staring at Mitsuki?

“Amaryllis” I heard Azalea call my name, snapping me back to reality. “What’s your say?”

I glanced at them, only to see blurry images of their figures.

What’s happening?

The sun is out but why does it feel so cold?

Before I passed out, all I heard were screams of my name as my world dimmed.

The white demon has been accused

Not even the news is an option to choose

The resting nuisance shall be unleashed, feel its wrath

And then, there comes the destined end to a path

Roses are tainted more than ever

How outstanding to obscure such an error

Yet a flower shall part ways

And say goodbye to the days

I squeezed my eyes open as light tackled my vision. Adjusting to the brightness, I was inside an infirmary, probably someplace that belonged to their ship.

“I’m relieved to see you okay Amaryllis” Mitsuki told me.

“Amaryllis-chan…” I heard Colt as he rushed next to me, Mitsuki stepping back even though she was only a spirit. “Feeling well now?”

“I think so” I replied as I sat up easily. “What happened?”

“Psychra Blade” Pandareos spoke but his eyes were neutral as ever.

“It seems like you came into contact with that before so Colt-kun fixed that matter” Azalea explained.

Colt is the doctor here huh?

“Thank you everyone” I nodded as they flashed a smile except for Pandareos. I glanced and saw a clock in the room. “I have to leave now. I don’t want them worried again”

“Eh? Already?” Heather groaned and heaved a sigh. “Make sure you’re alive when we see each other again”

I smiled at her, she never changed. “Roger that” I mocked a salute as I stood up.

“Would you like us to accompany you there?” Phlox asked but I declined the offer by mildly shaking my head.

>>Fast Forward>>

I entered in the submarine’s kitchen to have a glass of water with Mitsuki by my side.

“I can’t believe they survived” Mitsuki commented, lost in her thought.

“I’m happy they did” I said.

The place was deserted but there was a tray containing a cup of coffee but the water wasn’t enough yet. After drinking, I motioned towards the tray which actually had a note.

Please finish doing this coffee and take this to Captain Law. Thanks.

The handwriting was sloppy in a way like the one who wrote it was in a hurry because of something.

I thought of following the note when I smelled something fishy. I slightly lifted the cup closer to me and got shocked with my discovery.

“Amaryllis, what’s wrong?” Mitsuki asked as I glanced with her with a surprised look.

It had a scent of bitter almonds, a characteristic that almond cyanide has.

ALMOND CYANIDE?

I disposed the contents immediately and stopped for a breather.

If ever nobody noticed this when they served this to Captain, he would’ve died because cyanide can kill when it is metabolized by the body. Cyanide cuts off the supply of oxygen given to the cells, destroying them. It’s more harmful to the heart and brain since these organs use oxygen more than the others.

Did Akisu mean he was going to steal the Captain’s life away from him?

I walked down the hallway, lost in thought.

What did the Captain ever do to him to the extent he was going to kill him?

”Yeah, I left the poisoned coffee with a note to give it to the Captain” My ears caught a conversation. Was Akisu still inside?

I leaned on the door where the voice came from and can hear a bit clearly. It seemed like they were talking in a call.

“He is going to die”

“I think the others are going to be here anytime now. They went out to buy some stuff”

“Yes I’ll do whatever it takes to get Amaryllis back for you”

WAIT WHAT?

Did I just hear my name?

“Amaryllis” Mitsuki spoke. “You need to get out of here. Whoever was talking is about to leave the room”

I’M SCREWED! I don’t have that much time. I might get suspected if I make a noise unless…

I simply teleported a few meters away from the door opposite to the kitchen so they won’t know I disposed the poison and to appear like I just came passing by. I’m dying to see who tried to kill the captain.

I kept my cool as I kept walking when the door opened up to reveal the culprit:

Sorry for the late update. I’m supposed to review for the exams because the second day is tomorrow but I did this chapter halfway through before and here it is.
