Chapter 26
"—Scissors!"
"God dammit Baekhyun, you win again," Chanyeol frowned and Baekhyun laughed.
Currently, they were playing none other than rock-paper-scissors in the middle of the candle lit gym, sitting cross-legged one in front of the other.
Baekhyun was really enjoying playing the game with Chanyeol.
But really, the only reason he liked playing it with Chanyeol would be the reason that every time he won (which was literally every time) Chanyeol would have to give him a prize.
The prize was, well, something Baekhyun loved very much.
Chanyeol leaned in and placed a short kiss on Baekhyun's already red cheeks, and even though it had happened more than ten times, it still made Baekhyun's heart stutter and threaten to stop.
"Happy?" He asked, crossing his arms in fake annoyance.
"Do you want to play another round?" Baekhyun asked, gesturing with his hands.
"No, unless I win."
"That's impossible," Baekhyun stated.
It was the truth, because Chanyeol was way too predictable. He would always just choose one that would beat the one Baekhyun put out last time, and it was hilarious when he saw Chanyeol's face whenever he lost.
Maybe he could take pity on his dumb giant—but only after one more kiss.
"Rock, paper, scissors!"
Baekhyun held out paper, and Chanyeol had chosen rock.
The taller groaned and leaned back slightly, unamused that he always lost.
Baekhyun puckered his lips teasingly and made unnecessary noises forged to make Chanyeol even more irritated.
Because an annoyed Chanyeol was a fun Chanyeol.
"Fine, I'll give you your prize."
Baekhyun leaned forward, showing him his left cheek for him to kiss, but instead, Chanyeol pushed him back, careful of the candles a meter or so behind him.
"Chanyeol, this was not my prize—"
He cut Baekhyun off as he began peppering kisses all over Baekhyun's face, causing him to squirm and complain (even if he really liked it).
"I said only—" Baekhyun was cut off again when Chanyeol stole a kiss from his lips, lingering there for longer than any of the other kisses.
Just when Chanyeol was kissing his jaw and was about to descend even further, the door was opened and the lights were turned on, revealing what was happening inside clearly...
And what a scene they saw.
"Are you joking?!" A familiar voice screeched.
Chanyeol scrambled to get off of Baekhyun— but not before giving him another peck on the lips —and sat properly, looking up at her sheepishly but at the same time daringly.
"This is the THIRD time I've found you guys up to mischief! What do you want me to do this time?!"
Baekhyun did the same as Chanyeol, sitting up and fixing himself. "Ms. principal, I am so sorry—"
"You've said sorry two other times! Do I have to take basketball away from you?!"
"No, please—"
"Nope, begging won't cut it. You're not going to play in the basketball game next week!" She barked and Baekhyun flinched while Chanyeol just sat there.
"And if you break my rules, mark my words I will have you expelled," she hissed.
"The game next week?" Chanyeol asked again and she nodded. "But—"
"No complaining!" She yelled before huffing, turning around. "Clean up this stupid mess of yours!"
She walked away with that clicking of her heels, and when the door closed, Baekhyun turned to Chanyeol with a look of doom on his face.
"Why are you so calm?! It's the finals!" Baekhyun exclaimed and Chanyeol shrugged before he began laughing. "W—Why are you laughing! If we miss this we won't be able to get the trophy!"
"She's really dumb, our principal," Chanyeol stated and Baekhyun looked at him questioningly but worriedly. "We have no game next week."
Baekhyun was now thoroughly confused and Chanyeol grinned. "Since it's the finals, the game is two weeks away, and sucks to be her... We're still going."
Baekhyun let the words seep in before he began laughing in relief and amusement. It started off as a mere chuckle but when Chanyeol joined in, he couldn't hold himself back and began laughing louder.
"I wonder what happened to Kyungsoo when he was found."
"Maybe he won't be able to cook anymore..."
"Sucks to be him," Chanyeol finished and Baekhyun pursed his lips, looking at Chanyeol.
"Hey, you wanna play again?" Baekhyun offered and Chanyeol tsked but played anyways.
"Rock-paper-scissors!"
Baekhyun chose paper, and Chanyeol chose scissors.
"I win!" Chanyeol exclaimed and put his hand up. "I knew I could trust the peace-sign!"
Baekhyun laughed at his actions and decided to give Chanyeol his prize.
"I love you, Chanyeol," Baekhyun smiled lightly at him and Chanyeol couldn't help but feel his heart exploding.
He didn't know how lucky he was; to be able to have someone like Baekhyun in his life.
He was so grateful for the person sitting in front of him, smiling stupidly with his brown messy hair sticking up in certain places.
This person in front of him had just said words that he could never get tired of, mostly because it came out of his own mouth.
It came out of Baekhyun's mouth, his adorable lover, his small basketball player, his Winnie the Pooh, his light that outshone all of the others; his.
"Finally, I got my prize," Chanyeol grinned.
~
Sehun came back from America after a week and once he saw Baekhyun and Chanyeol, his jaw dropped.
"Oh my god, you guys are finally..." Sehun trailed off as Baekhyun and Chanyeol stole secret glances at each other, smiling to themselves slightly. "You guys are so cute but annoying at the same time," Sehun stated as he shook his head. "I raised you guys so well," Sehun faked to wipe a tear and Baekhyun snorted.
"Shut up and eat your lunch, maknae. And by the way, you barely helped."
"Are you kidding me?" Sehun questioned and Baekhyun shrugged. "For your info, I had to slap you—"
"Don't bring that up," Baekhyun cut in, remembering the memory—remembering the pain.
"Wait, what exactly happened?" Chanyeol asked and Sehun was about to explain before Junmyeon cut in and saved the day.
"Where are we going to be playing the finals?" He asked and Chanyeol completely forgot about the earlier mentioned subject, now focusing on something else.
"We're going to Baesinja High School. I heard they got some really good players this year... I wonder who we'll be up against," Chanyeol stated and everyone nodded in agreement.
Silence filled the table as everyone ate comfortably and without a word, thinking about their own thoughts about basketball, people or homework.
Baekhyun, on the other hand, was thinking about music.
He began humming a familiar tune, scrolling through his phone because he was done eating his food.
Just as he was about to like yet another picture about the super cute—probably actually gay—couple in EXO, someone grabbed his free arm and pulled him up.
Baekhyun looked up and saw Chanyeol just grinning at him before he turned around and began taking Baekhyun somewhere.
He heard Sehun and the others yelling at them for being too obvious and love-sick fools, but Baekhyun didn't really care.
He turned off his phone and shoved it into his pocket, quickening his steps to walk beside Chanyeol, shifting their hands so that they were now holding each others.
The same exact walk down the hallway and the same ugly door was what Baekhyun saw, and for some reason, he couldn't be happier.
Chanyeol opened the door and they walked in together.
"Woah, all the memories are slapping me in the face," Baekhyun remarked.
Just like Sehun slapped me in the face...
"You sound like you haven't been here in three years," Chanyeol said as they walked further into the room.
"Hey," Baekhyun called as he pointed at something and Chanyeol looked down. "Does the five-week rule still count for the picture?" Baekhyun asked, letting go of Chanyeol's hand and bending down to pick the pieces up.
He remembered precisely what happened that day, and although it still stung a little, it wasn't that bad.
"It's five-second rule, stupid." Chanyeol rolled his eyes as Baekhyun stood up.
"I can change the rules to whatever I want, I'm the almighty Baekhyun," he spoke as he looked at the picture and then at Chanyeol, silencing.
He continued doing that, looking at the picture and then at Chanyeol, not saying a word or making any expression.
Chanyeol looked at him questioningly and waited for him to say something that would explain what he was thinking.
"Wow," Baekhyun finally said. "You're so ugly."
"Yah, that's what you have to say after looking at the picture and me for an eternity?" Chanyeol asked, offended.
"Honestly, I wouldn't mind looking at you for an eternity," Baekhyun said under his breath but Chanyeol missed it, he was too busy pouting as he crossed his arms. "You know, you're like my dog," the smaller pointed out.
"What, you mean Yehet?"
"You remember?" Baekhyun asked somewhat excitedly, like he was surprised or proud that Chanyeol remembered.
"Who could forget a dog with that name?" Chanyeol questioned and Baekhyun grinned at him. "Wait, are you saying that I'm going to die the next time there's the first snow of the year?" Chanyeol pointed at himself, raising an eyebrow.
"No! You—He—I never said that!" Baekhyun exclaimed and Chanyeol chuckled at Baekhyun's flustered state. "You're just—I don't know, I just always want to hug you."
"Hmm, then do it," Chanyeol suggested as he held out his arms. Baekhyun blinked a few times as he stared at Chanyeol with a blank face, confusing the taller.
Eventually, Baekhyun scrunched up his nose and threw the pieces of the picture at him. "Ew, no. You're ugly."
"Baekhyun," Chanyeol warned but Baekhyun just stuck his tongue out, making a dash out into the hallway. Chanyeol almost groaned in annoyance but when he heard Baekhyun's laughter, he decided that it was worth it.
With his still slightly sprained ankle, he ran out of the room and spotted Baekhyun running down the hall.
Baekhyun wasn't going to lie, he was running quite slowly because after all, getting caught was more fun and he knew Chanyeol was still—sadly—hurt.
It didn't take that long; after Baekhyun hit into two people and ran into a teacher's cart while looking back, Chanyeol caught up to him, wrapping his arms around Baekhyun's waist from behind and picking him up, spinning him around.
"Chanyeol!" Baekhyun exclaimed, unable to hold back his laughter. Even if he knew people were probably watching, he didn't care.
He was in his own little happy world now, and nothing was going to ruin it.
Chanyeol placed him down while turning him around, and Baekhyun almost fell, leaning his weight onto Chanyeol's chest because he was slightly dizzy from the spinning.
Baekhyun felt Chanyeol's arms wrapping around him in a secure embrace and Baekhyun sighed, closing his eyes. He felt completely safe in Chanyeol's hold, like he always had.
But of course, being Chanyeol, he always had to ruin the best moments.
"I bet your dog can't hug you like me," Chanyeol whispered and Baekhyun snorted, shortly bursting into laughter after.
"W—What kind of a sentence was that?!" Baekhyun exclaimed between laughter, trying to somehow get air through his lungs. He had to distance himself from Chanyeol or else he'd end up just laughing in his face.
"What?! It's the truth! Think of a dog trying to wrap its arms—legs, around you!"
"S—Stop!" Baekhyun yelled, trying his best not to choke from his lack of air.
Baekhyun just continued laughing as Chanyeol just stared at him with an unreadable look on his face.
Chanyeol suddenly grabbed Baekhyun's wrist and pulled him in, pressing a kiss onto his mouth.
Baekhyun immediately shuts up as pink dusted his cheeks, the atmosphere switching from humorous to shy.
"I love how now, I can just do that without getting punched in the face," Chanyeol remarked and Baekhyun just blushed even further.
"It's not fair," Baekhyun mumbled.
"What?" He asked.
"I said it's not fair!" He repeated before he grabbed Chanyeol's face lightly, standing on his tip-toes and kissing Chanyeol.
