Chapter 19

Gabriel

Gabriel downloaded terabytes of precious information from C.I.N.A.'s most secure servers. Criminal records, agent files, and secret plans were all easily accessible to him...but it wasn't what he was looking for. Gabriel needed security information; passcodes, release protocol, and prisoner schematics. After he'd found that, Gabriel had everything he needed to execute his plan.

Gabriel stared at the elite C.I.N.A. facility through a pair of binoculars. It was a sprawling network of complex, futuristic buildings and security checkpoints. On all sides was a densely-wooded forest sprinkled with snow, just as his vision had foretold. In short, the facility was one of the most well-guarded in the world. But to Gabriel, who had all the passkeys, it would be like breaking into a mini mart.

He reached into his pocket and felt for the custom-made flash drive of his own design. Built from the computer he destroyed, the flash drive was his universal key. Using the newly-acquired data, he would be able to directly break into prison and achieve his goal.

The visions had spoken to the Prophet, and the visions never lied.

Ellie

She was thrown back into her cell and the door hissed shut behind her. Ellie lay on the ground, completely dazed from the mild sedative that had been administered to her.

"Ellie?" Merlin asked, from the neighboring cell. "Ellie?"

Ellie stirred, and grumpily pushed herself into a sitting position. Her eyes were bleary, but thankfully the drug was quickly wearing off.

     "What happened?" asked Merlin.

Ellie rubbed her eyes, still trying to regain her senses, "They wanted to know about Gabriel."

"What did you tell them?" demanded Merlin.

"I told them everything," Ellie answered.

"Why?" Merlin exclaimed. "What did they do? Torture?"

Ellie shook her head, "Nothing like that. There was a woman...Olivia Jones was her name."

     "Agent Jones?" asked Merlin.

"Yeah..." Ellie answered, trying to remember the fuzzy conversation. "She was like us Merlin. She had powers."

"Just because she has powers doesn't make her an ally!" Merlin responded, agitated.

"They wouldn't tell me what was happening with Gabriel," Ellie grudgingly remembered.

Gabriel

Gabriel busted into the isolated server room within C.I.N.A., grinning because of how easy the plan had all been. Once the location had been found, and the passkeys secured, even the most guarded stations were easy to walk into.

The server room that Gabriel stood in glittered among all the buzzing fans. He knew that all of the cells were electronically controlled, so all he had to do was find the right port.

Gabriel pulled out his flash drive, freshly loaded with all of the encrypted information that would cripple C.I.N.A.'s systems, and walked down the aisle of computers. He hunted for the right slot, but not before a new vision blared itself in front of his eyes.

"Yes..." Gabriel whispered. "Give me the truth! Give me the future!"

He staggered a few more feet, visions still crazily dancing before his eyes. Their clarity, intensity, and insistence could only mean that he was on the right path. If done correctly, his mission would be fulfilled.

Gabriel shakily looked at his flash drive, slightly glimmering in the dim light, and raised it to his lips for a kiss. Then, he plunged it into the correct server and watched as it automatically laced its way through the system. File by file, passcode by passcode, Gabriel's virus crippled each valuable component of C.I.N.A.'s operating systems.

All throughout the C.I.N.A. complex, security alarms, locks, and computers went offline. Every agent was on high alert as the power was cut and the prison doors on the subterranean levels were unlocked.

Ellie

"What just happened?" asked Ellie, lights above her flickering off. "Merlin?"

There was no response from the adjacent cell.

"Merlin?" repeated Ellie. "What's going on?"

Her cell door suddenly opened and a tall, dark figure illuminated the doorway. He held out a hand to Ellie, who was still on the floor.

     "Merlin?" asked Ellie.

"It's me," Merlin answered. "The security's offline, this is our chance."

     "Chance for what?" asked Ellie.

     "Freedom," answered Merlin. "Come on!"

Ellie, confused by all that was ensuing around her, reached up and grabbed Merlin's hand. He pulled her to her feet and they both stepped out of the cell. All down through the hallways, doors began to open and the prisoners inside stepped out.

"This is bad," Merlin whispered. "This is really bad."

     "What's so bad?" asked Ellie.

"For every good person in this prison, there's two bad ones," Merlin explained. "And I don't think they're going to like being cooped up together in one spot."

"There's going to be a riot," breathed Ellie, realization striking her.

"Quickly," Merlin insisted, "you've got to help me."

     Ellie looked at him, "What?"

"I've got to find my friend," Merlin explained. "Remember Robert? I've gotta get his ass out of here before everything goes to hell."
