Today I made a fire in the firepit outside. And not just any fire... I made this one with twigs and matches. No newspaper or other aids. It took several tries, but it worked! And it stayed alive for at least two hours.

Here it is, crackling cheerily. :)

I brought my array of books (book, sketchbook, notebook...) and a blanket outside and hung out.

It was good. I enjoyed it. And I was quite proud of myself. I started a fire with no aids. Just the bare bones. Unfortunately I am not in possession of flint, or I would have used it. But hey, it was cool. :)

What's also cool is the substance that came out of one of the pieces of wood I put on it. Our outside burn pile is typically the half rotted, discarded bits of wood; the nice stuff is in the shed for the inside fireplace. Anywho, there was this plank looking wood, and as it was burning, I realize something shiny is coming out. o.O. I thought it looked like Mercury at first, but I'm still alive so... XP. It turned out to be metal. I got it off from its wood with a stick and yeah. It kinda broke, so there's two pieces now.

Pretty cool, right? I didn't think of it at the time, but I could have felt like Celebrimbor or Sauron withdrawing the rings of power from the flames, or Fëanor finishing some new project. But I didn't. So I'll just say I did. After all, let's not let the facts get in the way of a good story. ;D

Oh, but I did play Fire by BTS while it was going near the beginning.
