Novum popped in the colored contacts, blinking a couple of times until her eyes focused again. She didn't have enough time to re-dye her hair, otherwise she would change her hair that way. It would be alright though, she had changed it three times since she left anyways.
She walked back into her gray room, putting the contact box into her new toiletry bag that she slipped into the one of the two suitcases. Everything had been packed neatly into her suitcases for her, and in all honesty, Novum was afraid to unpack any of it. The toiletry kit was in her bathroom, and she had pulled one of her special contact kits, using them before packing them as well. There was also a briefcase to the side with tech items and some weapons, something Novum would have to ask her teammates on how to use.
Teammates. What an odd word. Novum never worked with other people. She was given a mission, she went in, did it, and left without a trace. She wasn't a huge team player, for she didn't like to depend on other people. Too much could go wrong. She was worried to say the least. It wouldn't be an easy road, she could already tell.
"Novum, are you ready to go?" questioned Conge, silently stepping into the room without knocking. Novum looked up with a smile, nodding her head as she hefted up her briefcase and the suitcases.
"As ready as I guess I can be. I have the pre-mission jitters." She replied, giving a small laugh. "I can never get over them."
"I'm with you on that one, don't worry." Conge laughed, stepping into the hallway and rolling her own suitcase down. "I've been on plenty of missions. It's the same every time. A spike in adrenaline, a crazy laugh and a –"
"Nervous sweat! Exactly," finished off Novum, laughing with Conge. "And here I thought I was the only one. So can someone explain exactly what all these tech items are that I have here? These types of items scare me."
"Of course! Ignis is going to be flying and Furvus will be in the cockpit, so I can do it, if you'd like. They're simple once you understand them, don't worry." Conge turned right down a hallway and Novum followed, her humorous mood dropping little by little.
"Where is everyone?" Conge stiffened at the question, rolling down the hallway a bit faster.
"Look, and here we are, at the garage. Would you like to see some exciting automobiles?" And the doors opened, revealing a wonderous paradise for someone who hasn't seen good equipment in months.
They lost Novum. As in, she disappeared and they couldn't find her in the large room. She ran back and forth, questioning anyone who she considered to be working on the car, bike, plane, or any other motorized vehicles. They had planes that ranged in sizes from overly large to just big enough for one person, cars that could go invisible, super fast, or even fly, boats that could drive on land or turn into submarines, or also go invisible. It was her dream!
Yet she wasn't allowed anywhere near the cockpit when they finally got their own plane. It was a decent size, fitting the five of them comfortably with extra room to lay down and relax. Ignis made sure to sit her down in a navy blue chair, leaving her to admire the scratch marks on the table.
The other four agents scurried around as they prepared for lift off, calling back and forth with coded words that left Novum scrambling in her head. Her headache was coming on, and she slowly put her head down on the table as she breathed deeply. Her medications were in her bag, right ---
Wait. Her medications.
"That's it!" she hissed, jumping back up from the table. It was something so simple, so inconspicuous and normal that she hardly had to think about it. And the perfect ploy. "Ignis? Conge? Hello?"
Novum raced to the cockpit, banging the door open to the startled agents. "What are you doing? You should be sitting." Criticized Furvus, moving to push Novum out of the way.
"No!" Novum shoved back, stepping farther into the cockpit. "Please, I just have a question. If you knew everything about someone, everything about their personal life," she looked at each of them with wide, frantic eyes, portraying her nerves far more than she was really, well, trained, to show. "Would you be able to trace them?"
"Well," began Ignis slowly, sharing a long look with Conge as he slowly raised himself out of his chair, "That depends on how well that person can hide themselves. If they change everything, then it's near impossible to find them, if they're aware of anything that could be tracked. Why?"
She didn't reply, merely staring at him with raised eyebrows. "And if the person knew all of that, knew to change, to hide, to disappear, could they possibly be tracked if they only forgot something small?"
Conge stood, her footfalls silent as she gripped Novum's arms, backing her back into the main cabin where she settled them both into the navy chairs. "Listen to me, tell me what it is that you forgot and we can get it solved, get you off the grid. Is that what you need?"
Novum swallowed, moving her thin hands up to her hair where she ran it through the blue tipped ends. "Yes, through my headache medication – it was so small I didn't think it consequential. But, but I haven't ordered more or put the prescription through in three months and I have changed my location and features twice since then. I can't see how they can track me, but they always show up when I least expect it." She swallowed deeply, her hands coming to twist each other back in their lap.
Conge blinked slowly, her eyes moving from Novum's eyes down to her hands and back again. "Well, either we delay our mission and deal with this now – but there's no promises on that because the network is really backed up – or we can go on the mission and deal with this later. It's your call, Novum. How important is this to you?"
The girl froze, taking a solid two minutes to work through the thoughts. She hadn't ordered in three months...she was due...but they wouldn't be able to find her if she didn't...and she just joined...there was a mission... "Alright it can wait, that's fine. But I really need this done when we get back."
Conge nodded and called out to Ignis, who clearly had gotten the go ahead and moved the plane forward. "Okay. Put it out of your mind for now. We need you focused here, because we have a three hour flight in which we are going to give you a crash course in everything that we have in our manuals."
"If it helps," Furvus was suddenly at Novum's shoulders, "We do have all the manuals on board if you wanted to read them at some point. They're also already in your tech items, well, all the tablets and such, with instructions on how to use every item pre-built in. If you have some free time, you should start going through those things."
"Thanks," replied Novum, taking the large binders being handed her way and giving Furvus a smile. The girl returned one before disappearing into the cockpit, closing the door quietly. Vestimenta had placed himself at the scratched table and had a couple computer screens and keyboards out, typing away.
"Alright, shall we get some baseline going? I assume you know some things, but just to make sure?" Conge stood and pulled out a few briefcases, placing them at her feet before she buckled in and prepared for take off.
"Sure. Your ways are so different from what I've done before." The girls shared a laugh.
"Oh honey, we are nothing that you've ever seen before."
