Chapter Five
Anderson swallowed as he finished with M-I6's rant. His other hand was on his hip and he put the corner of his cell phone to his lips and he looked down thinking. Even he thought everyday. Wondering when he would get news. When the condition was to be improved. It had been four months. Four months....four months ago even he remembered what the doctor had told him.
-Start of Flash Back-
Jackson sat there in the chair his hands held together as he pressed his lips against this fingers holding them tightly together. His was lifting his knee up and down repeatedly keeping his heel lifted. He bit the bottom of his lip. He had been in here for four hours. It was almost 2:30 a.m.
"What if I was to late?", he whispered.
"You weren't", said a Lawrence opening the door and stepping inside.
Jackson looked up. "Thank god", gasped Anderson running his fingers through his hair and wiped his brow leaning against the wall will relief.
Lawrence stepped inside further and another followed. The man extended his hand to Jackson, "Gentlemen, I'm Dr. Mathew Gregor, the head trauma physician", said the elder stranger.
Jackson shook his hand firmly, Anderson did as well. The physician extended his hand, "You gentlemen might want to sit down", said the physician to Anderson and nodded to Lawrence. The physician sat down with his clip board along with the other three gentlemen.
His face was serious, "We've managed to get her stable, yet we will be watching her for the next forty eight hours to make sure nothing else unexpected occurs and to ensure she doesn't relapse. However......she is in a coma", said the physician pausing.
He lifted a paper, "We cannot entirely determine when she will wake up but we have her on life support. I just need someone's consent.....there isn't anyone alive who is a relative nor is there anyone assigned to make the choices for her. For now I've decided to keep her on life support.....due to the federal American government. Though I've been ordered to keep her alive.....I feel as if you should all know her chances are not looking....good. I don't mean to sound pessimistic....but if she wakes up she will have, possible memory loss, delusion, hysteria, and....mentally....I am unable to make a professional statement. There are possibilities. She could develop any number of mental disabilities, paralysis, spasms, involuntary muscle contractions, her heart.....it could fail at anytime, her condition could worsen......with a possibility to need a heart transplant.....yet from her documents she isn't registered and has refused it...but I've been ordered to keep her alive at all costs".
-End of Flash Back-
Anderson felt his phone buzz as he had it pressed against his lips. It was the doctor. Anderson had the number. And it was usual that the supervisor called to relay information. Daily information.
"Yes, hello", said Anderson picking up.
"Hello, Mr. Smith?", asked the voice.
"Yes this is him", said Anderson not entirely used to his last name. He was properly used to the formality of Anderson.
"I have news", said the man. Anderson heard him flick up the paper from his clip board. Anderson tensed. The sound of the doctor's tone didn't sound heartening. It didn't sound optimistic.
"In regards to Miss DeLacy, she's coming in and out of consciousness. You are welcome to come visit but I can't guarantee that she will be awake when you arrive, but her body functions have become moderately normal. Aside from continual exhaustion, in my expert opinion she has made progress, so far I haven't been able to speak with her. Mentally and physically it may be still a while till she is able to speak again....I'm not even sure if she will even know how to, only time will tell", said the Doctor.
"Thank you, we'll be on our way", said Anderson nodding as the doctor continued to speak with further details. But Anderson wasn't really listening. He ended the phone call turning to see the gentlemen standing there.
He stared at them, "DeLacy is coming back around", he said to them.
