Chapter Fourty

................................

Green Light!

DeLacy shot forward quicker than Jackson gaining the lead as she made her way through cars and lanes. Jackson clenched his teeth jaw tightening and he went forward too already mad at himself for loosing the lead. Marco in the back was clinging to the seats praying and begging that he wouldn't fall out. He wasn't much for this roller coaster ride. Let alone speed racing! In the middle of a city hub!

Totally against the law! Completely! However he didn't want to go home. Wherever home was for him. Yes, he had spoken to his younger brother on the phone via the contact provided by DeLacy. Sheesh he hadn't felt like a baby in so many years. He had broken down in the middle of the hallway. Marco and his brother were complete nerds, geeks, and computer whizzes. However, Marco wasn't exactly the type to sit behind a desk and mess around. He wanted more thrill. This was thrilling, just not the kind he wanted. But Marco agreed on this one thing.

"Jackson! I swear if we lose and have to go home without spending even a day in the Caribbean, your dead!", yelled Marco.

"I don't intend on letting that happen!", yelled Jackson.

He picked up speed gaining on DeLacy. He tried to go around but she simply shifted not letting him. She started going faster through the streets and they zoomed past pedestrians. Some people looked aghast others cheers whistling.

DeLacy took them down a road along the coast and Jackson could see the ocean to his left. But there was no time to look at the lovely blue water now. He had to get ahead. Jackson grew frustrated and smirked. He liked the challenge. DeLacy was good. Lawrence was laughing his head off and Anderson was still pouting. But he was enjoying himself in truth.

DeLacy shifted gears making a sharp turn into a street with palm trees and jungle brush. They were far out of the city how. More like in the country side. There was a field of cattle in the green lush grass. It was beautiful here. Jackson glanced passing small houses. Close to the beach. These were not resorts. Rentals? A small secluded neighborhood. DeLacy turned again and Jackson screeched speeding around the corner just barely missing it.

"Dude?! You know how to drive?!", yelled Louis almost losing his sunglasses. But he was beaming. He was delighted by this adrenalin rush. He adored it! Rollins pumped his fist excitedly in the moment. Jackson turned following the sandy path.

Jane May shouted back, "Eat our dust boys!", she laughed.

Jackson leaned his head he began to see the edge of a house. He hit the pedal turning hard gaining speed. DeLacy slammed on the breaks turning the wheel sharply the sand and dust flying as Jackson rounded around her. She clenched her teeth trying to get the car to halt but they kept sliding to the left through the sand driveway.

It grew still and Jackson's car stopped her's was right beside his just barely tapping the passenger door of Louis's seat.

"Yeah!", laughed Rollins stretching his arms up beaming. He gave Jackson a manly pat on the back. "Hahaha! My man Jackson, my man", said Rollins. He then hopped out into the sand snagging his bags. He slung them over his shoulder getting the luggage of a few others.

Louis climbed out over the hood jumping off and snatched a bag from Rollins swinging his arm over Rollins shoulder in a friendly manner. Even he knew when he had been defeated. Besides, Louis could take his pick from the many other pretty women here in Cuba. He wouldn't dare try to take Jackson's prize.

Jackson smiled playfully at DeLacy. He thought she would be pissed off. But she looked him and tilted her head waiting. She wasn't one to back out of her word. Jackson shifted to the next seat across from DeLacy.  She lifted her sunglasses setting them on her head her short brown hair pulling back behind them. Jackson looked at her taking off his glasses and twirled them a bit.

"Not bad", said Jackson.

"Likewise", said DeLacy.

Jackson leaned forward. He didn't know why he was hesitant. He stopped just before he touched DeLacy's lips. He was timid suddenly. He stared at her, the sand and dust floating against the sun light and gave her a haze. He could smell the fresh perfume and aroma coming from her. Her lips a natural pi. Jackson closed his eyes colliding with her's slowly.

His heart skipped a beat. His head was fuzzy and he felt warm inside. Jackson had not kissed in such a way before. His ex-fiancee had never kissed like this. Jackson honestly thought it would just be a quick peck. But DeLacy was actually doing it for real. She wasn't timid or shy.

DeLacy thought Jackson wasn't all too bad himself. His lips were soft and he moved slowly and carefully. DeLacy pulled back she smirked, "Congratulations Mr. Roberts", she said.

"Jackson, Mr. Roberts isn't my thing", he said.

DeLacy smirked. She then climbed out of the car onto the hood since she couldn't get out due to the car locking her door shut. Jackson hopped over parkour style and extended his hand to DeLacy. Which she took in her fingers. She was about to step down when Anderson came beside Jackson slyly and flicked his ankle back with his foot. Jackson lost his footing falling back. DeLacy hit Jackson's chest groaning.  Anderson walked away whistling as if nothing had happened. It for him was payback.

Jackson chuckled, "Well....this is nice", he said smiling.

DeLacy smirked a small smirk, "No, no this isn't too terrible", she replied.

Jackson watched as DeLacy pushed herself up and stood brushing off the sand. She took off her sun glasses  cleaning them with her sleeve. Jackson stood the back of his shorts covered in sand and wiped them clean. DeLacy flashed Jackson a smile.

"Enjoy yourself Jackson", she said walking off towards the house.

Jackson smiled. The only thing he could think about was, 'Damn DeLacy was good'.
