Chapter Fourty Three

Anderson groaned as his cell phone rang. It was M-I6. He had figured it out that Anderson was not where he was supposed to be. The tracker on Anderson's watch and the other gadgets that the seven others had received were all giving off signals that they were in Cuba.

M-I6 was.....

Not happy.

"Yes Sir", said Anderson answering.

"Damn it Anderson! I give you one thing to do and you deliberately do the complete opposite! Why the hell are the signals giving the coordinates to Cuba?!", yelled M-I6 through the phone.

"I'm in Cuba Sir", replied Anderson.

"Tell me why!", snapped M-I6 from the other line.

Anderson paused silently. He could feel M-I6's glare suddenly. M-I6 snapped, "You were drugged?! Oh bloody hell! First I get shot at! The police are getting too nosey! And now you let DeLacy drug you and your in Cuba!", yelled M-I6.

Anderson flinched, "I apologize Sir", said Anderson.

M-I6 sighed, "I do not know what she intends to do. But don't screw up. I will deal with Jova. That bastard shot my car, you have the list at least?", asked M-I6.

"Yes, I've sent it to you. It's on it's way now sir", replied Anderson referring to the long process of it being transferred from agent to agent. It still had a while to go before it was to reach M-I6. Especially with now Jova being bolder it would take longer. Anderson clenched his fist in his pocket just at the thought of that name.

He raised his eyebrows turning as he heard the click of a gun being loaded. He saw DeLacy at the counter shoving bullets into her military pistol. The house was lovely. Glass windows and sliding doors leading onto the back porch where the blue ocean was a ways down across the beach.

"Anderson are you listening?", asked M-I6.

"I apologize sir, I heard a gun", replied Anderson.

"Oh really?", hissed M-I6 pissed off at his employee.

"DeLacy", clarified M-I6.

"Get off the phone Anderson", said DeLacy not looking up as she meddled with her pistol.

"I have to go Sir, lady's request", said Anderson.

"Don't let her play you again Anderson. You should be embarrassed", grumbled M-I6 hanging up.

Anderson glared back at DeLacy muttering, "Oh believe me....I am".

She tucked the pistol into her holster which was hidden in the back of her side. Anderson didn't really enjoy the fact that she did not feel safe without it. DeLacy always kept it with her. Other than on the public plane which they had taken to get here along with two transfer flights. Anderson assumed it took them at least three days to get here. He was correct. But that lead him to wonder.

"That was very sly of you", said Anderson walking over slipping his phone back in his pocket.

DeLacy lit a cigarette and offered one to Anderson. He took it smirking, "Not going to drug me again are you?", he tested.

"I wouldn't be worried about what I could do but rather what the community here in stills", replied DeLacy

Anderson shrugged, "Noted", he replied.

DeLacy coughed taking her cigarette in her fingers turning her head. Anderson looked at her narrowing his eyes.

"You out of all people shouldn't smoke", said Anderson.

"It helps", replied DeLacy sitting down on the bar stool.

"With your heart? Please, you know that is completely false",  scoffed Anderson.

"Not that! Don't be absurd!", snapped DeLacy.

"Well then what?", asked Anderson.

"It keeps my mind occupied", she said looking away.

"Care to share?", inquired Anderson leaning on his elbows.

"It's not something I enjoy speaking about", replied DeLacy staring through the window towards the ocean not looking at Anderson at all. DeLacy sighed though and added, "But it doesn't matter anyway. You've already completely invaded my privacy and personal life".

"If you are referring to the Game that isn't much of a personal life", said Anderson.

"Being an agent of M-I6 and living false identities isn't much of a personal life either", said DeLacy annoyed.

"It's work, I'm paid", replied Anderson full heartedly.

"I will not argue that", confessed DeLacy.

"So...are you going to share as to why you indulge in smoking despite the medical advice you have received as too quit and stop", said Anderson.

"It's water vapor Anderson, I got off of nicotine a year ago.....it's difficult though....without that high, it would do a better job of suppressing....", DeLacy's voice trailed off. Anderson took out the cigarette and looked at it. No wonder it had tasted different. It was not a common cigarette. Anderson waited silently for DeLacy to finish.

DeLacy sighed she was pausing. It wasn't really anything she enjoyed discussing at all. But Anderson had asked.

"It personally aided it keeping my mind off of my personal PTSD symptoms", finished DeLacy after several moments.
