Chapter Sixty Two
The cab driver pulled up to the destination and he frowned. This place was dark and empty. With a wire fence. The building looked utterly desolate. He checked his GPS again.
He looked back, "You sure this is the right place?", he asked.
"Yes, thank you", said DeLacy extending him the eight hundred euro bills.
"Miss that's not the price, it's only thirty four euros", he said.
"Consider it a tip for your honesty", said DeLacy setting the money down and got out shutting the door. The old cab driver looked at her as DeLacy walked away in the rain.
He stared and then called, "Miss! Miss!", he called.
DeLacy turned watching him get out of the cab and run over to her through the puddles pulling his rain coat hood over his head. He extended an umbrella to DeLacy. She looked at it. She took it smiling at small sad smile.
"Thank you kind sir....your grand children are very beautiful", she said and propped it open and walked away toward the building.
The cab driver watched her leave with her hand in her pocket. The cab driver then turned but looked back, she had seen the picture of his four grand children on his dash board. He shoved his hands in his pockets and then went back in his cab and pulled away driving away into the pouring rain.
DeLacy stepped into the building closing the umbrella and then leaned it against the wall. Her clothes were soaked and hair matted down. She ran her fingers through her hair taking out a cigarette and took out her lighter she flicked her finger. It didn't turn on. Too wet. DeLacy tossed the lighter away hearing it clatter and then dropped the useless cigarette also crushing it under her foot twisting it harshly.
DeLacy walked forward. When she checked the cab driver's clock before exiting it had been 10:45 p.m. She walked forward stopping as she heard heavy footsteps come her way.
The man clapped his hands together wearing a white tank top and heavy military grade pants and boots with long laces. His arms were large and built with broadness. His head was shaved with slight stipples coming out. There was a tattoo on the top of his head. Another on his shoulder and chest peaking out from the top he wore.
"I must say, I'm impressed", said the man. "You are relentless", he added in a deep voice. His face was stern and serious. He was a large man. His voice hefty and he was well built.
"Same to you", replied DeLacy.
"Tsch! I just get hired, payed it's just-",
"Business", finished DeLacy for him opening her eyes and sighed, "I know", replied DeLacy.
"As much as I'd like to get this done quickly for you as an honorable person I'm afraid I can't kill you just yet", said the man. Jova didn't like this. The woman had come quicker than he expected and now he was being forced to prolong her life span. It wasn't the correct thing to do. Not for a woman who is honorary and respectable. He preferred to get hints done quickly his way. But his employer liked to make a big mess of things. She unlike DeLacy was not honorary and Jova didn't really like working for her. But he had to get food on the table some how. And this was the only thing he was good at.
DeLacy sighed looking down at the ground. She nodded feeling something hit her head and her mind snapped off and out.
