Chapter Three
Jackson sat in the interrogation room. All too familiar. Smaller but still the same set up. He was still cuffed and had his hands in his lap and he was leaning back in the chair. He had been questioned but Jackson did as he was told. He wasn't talking. It was frustrating the investigators. They could keep him. They could lock him up. And they would.
Jackson sat there letting his mind wander back. The sounds of sirens began to fill his mind as his thoughts drifted back to four months ago.
-Start of Flash back-
Lawrence and Anderson were in the back of the ambulance as the sirens blared. The peramedic said didn't like it that Lawrence was there snapping at them. Telling them what to do. But he was the one who knew the most about DeLacy's condition.
Jackson couldn't do much more. He wasn't certified for this.
"I need the IV!", yelled Lawrence snapping his fingers at a female paramedic.
The woman fumbled pulling an IV pumping and inserted it. They monitored the heart rate. Beeping at a constant rate. They had managed to contain the bleeding and the driver up front radioed to the hospital informing them of the situation.
Jackson stared along with Anderson staying out of the way as pipes and tubes were inserted and tapped. Lawrence tensed clenching his teeth hearing the heart monitor go flat and it gave off a repetitive warning that he knew too well. Yet he didn't have to tell the emergency medic to begin chest compressions. The man climbed over shoving full force.
Lawrence continued working quickly along side the other two paramedics. He kept glancing at the monitor. Waiting. His heart was pounding and Lawrence clenched his teeth. He had to bring her back. He had to. The ambulance continued arriving at the hospital with emergency teams and the surgeons waiting. Heart specialists, over load of nurses, interns, trauma specialists, and more.
Lawrence took the cart lifting it down and hurried pulling it along with the others. The paramedics wanted to tell him to quit it but he wouldn't have. Jackson and Anderson got out to following through the doors. They were about to follow further into another room but the doctors stopped them.
"Gentlemen, no, no, no, you can't go further", said one. Several head surgeons walked into the room rubbing and cleaning their arms simultaneously to join having been called. It was chaos. No communication or order.
Jackson tried to push through but Anderson pulled him back glaring and shook his head. There was nothing they could do. Their expertise wasn't this. It was not this field. That was Lawrence's specialty of focus.
All they could was wait outside tense and stressed with worry. Jackson would have much rather waited outside the room looking in but they were standing in the way and lead to a separate waiting room. To simply wait and listen.
-End of Flash Back-
Jackson was brought back into reality as the door opened again. The man from prior who had been hired by M-I6 stepped in. He held open the door as Jackson's cuffs were taken off. "You can go, I'll handle the rest", said the man tossing down a plastic box. It contained everything that had been taken from Jackson who began to put it all back on.
He tucked his pistol back and left the room walking past the head investigator and the officer who had officially arrested him. Both were pissed off. Jackson had gotten away Scott-free even after shooting a man. The only thing they could get him off with was a speeding ticket and not being in possession of his gun license. That was nothing to pay off.
Jackson walked out with a stern look. Another down, on to the next one.
