She walked into the hotel lounge. As usual it was filled.
She saw a single table at the far end of the bar. There was an empty chair there.
The only one in the whole place, so it seemed.
She let out a sigh.
.
The bartender noticed her and walked to where she was standing.
"He likes his privacy."
.
She turned toward the bar.
"Evening Kevin."
.
He smiled.
"Evening Vickie."
.
She walked to the bar and leaned on it.
"Busy night."
.
He nodded.
"As always."
He picked up an empty glass and showed her. "Gingerale?"
.
She nodded.
"That would be fine."
She looked at the man sitting at the table.
"So, do I take my chances with him?"
.
Kevin laughed.
"You know what he is like."
.
She started walking away.
"Yes, I believe I do."
.
He looked up briefly when she approached the table.
.
"May I sit down?"
.
He looked at her.
"If you want. I was just about to leave."
.
She smiled.
"You try and I will kick your ass."
She bent down and kissed him on the lips.
"Evening Mr. Richards."
.
He stood and took her hand, helping her to the empty seat. He kissed her again.
"Evening Mrs. Richards."
He knelt by her and kissed her protruding belly.
"Evening little lady."
.
She rubbed his head and ran her fingers through his long hair.
"She has been active today."
.
He spoke to her belly.
"Stop giving Mommy a hard time."
He stood up and went to his seat, never letting go of her hand.
.
"Your meetings went well?"
.
He kissed her hand. He thanked his lucky stars every day for the beautiful redhead who was now his wife.
"Same old, same old. How are you feeling?"
.
"I am great. Looking forward to going home."
.
"Well I should wrap things up tomorrow and we can head out the next morning."
.
She looked out at the Falls.
She could not believe that it was just a short year ago that she walked into the same lounge and in in span of one short night fell absolutely in love with the man who was now her husband.
.
She looked back at him.
"I love you Dylan."
.
"I love you Vickie."
