Chapter Four
She's frozen. "Trinity, hello anyone home?" I ask and wave my hand in front of her face.
Taylor comes over and waves his hand in front of her too. She blinks a few times and gives me a huge hug which makes me feel like I can't breath. I laugh a little and she unleashes me from her bear hug.
"Wow, um, that's the last thing I expected to come out of your mouth." She says and laughs a little also.
"I thought you were dead," Taylor claims and she gives him a glare.
"Hey, you didn't just find out your best friend is going to know all of your secrets and maybe train to go on missions with you." She says and lowers her voice so no one can overhear her.
"True, I'll see you guys at the place." He says and walks to his car.
"So are you two partners?" She asks and gets into her blue car. I follow her and get into the passenger seat.
"I guess. Who are you partners with?" I ask hoping it's not Bryce and crossing my fingers.
"I'm with a boy named Zack. He's hilarious and I think he likes me." She says and blushes a little. Of course, I mean one look at her and anyone would like her.
"Oh and you were raising eyebrows at me, when I should be doing them to you," I state giving her the same look she'd done to me. She laughs a little.
"Ya I know, but I never thought I could tell you. And you're so lucky." I give her a confused look.
"Why?"
"You get to work with Taylor. He's really good, so you're going to have competition with beating him. He has the record for the obstacle course." She says and starts driving. A smile comes to my lips.
"Not anymore. And I need to go to my place and get some clothes."
"Wait. What? Who beat him?" She asks completely confused and looks at me with wide eyes. She turns towards my place though.
"That'd be me, oh and have you met Bryce?." I say in an angry voice.
"Ya he's really cocky and is a pain, but you beat Taylor." She asks in disbelief.
"Ya, it was amusing because he didn't think I had the upper body strength to finish it. Anways, Bryce got a punch to the nose so hopefully, he will leave us alone." I say and she pulls into my place. "I'll be right back," I say and run to my house. I grab another backpack and fill it with clothes. Once I think I have everything I want to bring I run out to Trinity's car and put my bag in the back of her car. Once I get in she starts talking.
"What'd he say that made you punch him or was it just his ugly looks?" She says laughing and not at all surprised that I'd punched him. She pulls out of my house and starts driving to the place. I pay attention so I can remember how to get there on my own.
"He called me a bitch and shoved me, but his face should look a little better now."
"Oh, that makes sense and nothing can help that face." She says and takes a right turn. I nod my head in agreement.
Once we get there you have to put a password in to get in. Oh, do I have a lot to learn, unfortunately. We get in and she has to go and practice with Zack, he seems nice and is definitaly her type. I still feel a little sick, but not nearly as bad as before. I think it was just a little bug or something. I go to Taylor and I's room and start to do homework.
Taylor's P.O.V.
"Ya she did." I smile at Zack.
"I can't believe she actually punched him. I wish I could have been there to see it." Zack says laughing as we walk out to the workout room.
"It was awesome and I don't think he plans on messing with her again, but if he does I got a feeling she can throw a few more punches."
"I wouldn't. She sounds cool though." Zack says and smiles at me.
"She is, but if you hurt her or her friend you might want to move to the other side of the Earth, she seems very...protective." I say knowing he liked Trinity. He did the first time she walked into the place.
"Ya I don't plan on it and vice versa. You know Trinity will hurt you." Zack says like it's nothing in the world to say.
"I don't like her man." I say not knowing if I liked her like that. Ya as a friend but I don't know about more than that. We did just meet.
"Right ok." He says not believing me. I just roll my eyes at him. Then we see the girls come in.
"Taylor come here." I turn around and see Greg. I nod my head and jog up to him.
"Ya, whats up?" I ask curiously on what he wants to talk to me about.
"Did Alaina punch Bryce in the face this morning?" He questions and sounds annoyed.
"Yes, but he shoved her and called her a bitch," I explain defending Alaina and knowing that Greg is tired of Bryce and his attitude.
"That's what I thought. She gave him a broken nose." Greg says a smile on his lips.
"Really, she actually broke his nose?" I ask surprised. I didn't know she was that pissed off.
"Ya, oh, and can you go through everything with her? I'm needed for some things." He says and starts walking to his office.
"Sure and she might not need as much physical training as most people," I state knowing he wants me to update him.
"Ya her dad trained her when she was young and she used to take tiquando, so I'm not surprised she can defend herself."
"Oh that explains why she knows how to fight. Is that all?" I ask knowing I had to get homework done and help Alaina with everything else.
"Ya, but can you just make sure she doesn't push herself too hard. She always does." He says turning to look back at me.
"Ya, no problem." I say and jog down to the room. When I get there I see clothes. Bryce's clothes. "Great," I mumble sarcastically. I'll do it later. When I open the door I see Alaina is on the bed, listening to music, and doing her homework. She looks so innocent and not the girl that can kick someone's ass.
I quietly sneak behind her and tap her on her shoulders. She swings around and hits me in the wrong spot. I fall to the floor with a groan.
"Don't do that. People get hurt when they scare me." She says laughing a little at my misery.
"Ya." I say still on the ground trying not to die. "I got that now," I say and let out a breath of pain.
"Are you ok?" She asks, trying not to laugh at me.
"Ya I just got hit in the sensitive spot, I'm just perfect," I say sarcastically and look up at her.
"Hey, it was your own fault for trying to scare me." She says and I get up.
"Remind me never to do that again," I say and grab my homework.
"Don't do that again." She says smiling. She is such a smart ass. I just give her a glare and she smiles at me. I normally sit on the bottom bunk to do my homework, but she's on it so, I guess I'll go on the floor. I grab my Math homework which I'm ok at and begin.
"Ugh, this is so stupid." Alaina says after a few minutes later and pushes her papers away from her.
"You good?" I ask even though I know she's not.
"No, History is a pain in my ass. All those f*cking names and dates, like I don't care." She says clearly frustrated.
"Oh, let me see. It's my favorite class." I say and extend my hand to grab her papers.
She looks at me like I'm psycho. "You're crazy." She says but hands me the papers anyway.
I start to read it and understand what she nees to do immediately. I start talking to her but she looks completely confused. This is going to be a long day.
After 30 minutes we finally finish her History and she understands most of it. "Thanks." She says and puts the papers in her accordion folder.
"Do you need help with anything else, before I start my stuff?" I ask. She looks up at me and just stares at me. "What?" I question and she laughs. "What? Do I have something in my hair or on my face?" She nods her head. "What is it?" I say not moving a muscle. She pulls me off the bunk bed and grabs her shoe. "Wait. I don't want to be hit with a shoe."
"You won't. Swipe the spider-"
"Spider!" I scream and start to swipe my hair as fast as I can. Then I see Alaina slam her shoe down. I run and go on the top bed. "Is it gone?" I ask looking where she slammed her shoe down. Little freaking demons are everywhere.
"Yes." She says and busts out laughing. I get off the top bunk and attempted to fix my hair.
"That wasn't funny," I say and look down at her laughing. She's crouched over, her arms over her stomach.
"Scared of spiders much?" She says and tries to stop laughing.
"Ya, they're creepy and gross," I say and shiver just thinking about them.
"Whatever you say." She says and sits back down on her bed. She giggles again.
"I'm gonna go and start Bryce's laundry," I say and open the door.
"I'll help." She says and puts her homework down. My eyes almost pop out of my sockets. She's offering to help to laundry, laundry of the person that she punched just this morning.
"You don't have to." I say surprised.
"Ya, but I'm part of the reason why you have to do it." She says and walks under my arm and out the door.
"What's the other reason?" I ask and grab the clothes.
"You got beat, which is your own fault." She says and smiles at me. And there it is, just so she can rub it in a little more, I lead the way down to the washers. Once we get to the room she puts the cleaner in and waits for me to put the clothes in. I do and she starts it. "There easy enough." She says and walks to lead the way. "Wait do you have to fold the clothes?" She asks and stops to look at me.
"No, I can't fold and there is no way I'm folding his underwear. Gross." I say and we both shudder. Alaina starts walking but makes a wrong turn. I don't stop her because she will eventually find where to go or she'll ask for help, well she'll probably just continue to take wrong turns.
Alaina P.O.V.
I take a wrong turn to find where the computers are, so I can start looking for the people that killed my dad. I don't want to tell Taylor because he'll say something to Greg and then I'll have to talk to him about it and I really don't want to. I take another turn and see laptops. Perfect, just hack into the servers, so they can't see what I'm doing and I'll find them. I go around and find the room.
"Did you get lost at all?" Taylor asks and I can sense the smile on his lips.
"Shut up, this place is big ok," I say acting like I got lost. I sit down and start my homework again. He sits back on the ground smiling and does his homework. After World Language, Language Arts, Math, Science, Writing, and start some projects I'm finally done. Once I put everything away in my backpack, I lay down and just listen to my music. A few minutes later I get poked by something. I open my eyes to see Taylor poking me with my brush.
"Why are you poking me with my brush?" I ask not even sure if I want to know the answer and pulling out and earbud.
"Because I didn't want to get hit in the family jewels again." He says and hands me my brush. I laugh a little.
"K, what's up?" I ask sitting up.
"I have to go through a ton of stuff with you because Greg is busy." He says and gets papers out.
"Ugh, but I don't want to," I whin like a child.
"But you have to." He says looking at the first page.
"Uughhh. Fine. What's first?" I ask and sit next to him and read over his shoulder.
"Let's try passwords." He says and starts going through which ones are which and when to use them. Once we've gone through the passwords about a thousand times he moves on to code names. 2 and 1/2 hours later I lay down on the floor. "My head is going to explode if we go through anything else," I say and grab my head.
"Ya I'm still learning some of these," Taylor says and puts the papers down.
"Have you been on any missions?" I ask and look at him.
"Nope." He says and I raise my eyebrows at him. "I didn't have a partner and I'm not done training. I go a do little things, but nothing that could be called a mission."
"How long have you been training?" I ask because he seems as if he's been here for at least a year.
"Five months. I had to do physical training, all this paper crap and then you have to go to counseling to make sure you can handle certain things. It's not fun."
"Wow, I'm going to be getting a lot more headaches," I say and laugh. He laughs nodding his head.
"Hey want to play truth or dare instead of this." He says and picks up the papers.
"Yes." I say and sit up so I'm across from him. "You first," I say and he asks me truth or dare? "Truth." I say and watch him think of what to ask me.
"Have you ever drank?" He says.
"Yes." I say, what a dumb question. His eyes open wide as if he's surprised. "What? The first time I didn't know there was alcohol in it, but after that, I knew. It's not like I go out and get drunk though."
"And here I thought you were a goody to shoes that got straight A's and followed every rule."
"I punched Bryce in the nose and you think I'm a goody-goody, but I do get straight A's." He nods his head seeming to debate.
"Truth or Dare?" I ask him.
"Truth." He says and I start thinking about things to ask him.
"Have you ever peed your pants after you were 12?" Childish, but for some reason that's what came into my head.
"Unfortunately yes." He says and lowers his head. I laugh and he joins in. The game becomes more of a question game and the questions aren't that serious until I ask "Do you live here or somewhere else because you seem to have a lot of stuff here?" I asks looking around the room.
"Ya." He says a little shy.
"Why? Do your parents-"
But before I can finish my sentence he cuts me off and says, "My parents are dead."
"Sorry, I didn't me to barge in on your personal life." I say knowing that it's hard to lose a parent and the way it was brought up wasn't the best.
"It's fine you would have found out sometime, better to get it out now. I like it here anyways. K your turn. Do you not like your mom and that's why you live with your grandparents?" He asks and changes the subject to me.
That's a hard question to answer so I think carefully before I say, "She isn't the motherly type and can't afford another child in her house."
"What do you mean?" He asks looking me straight in eyes. It makes me slightly uncomfortable.
"I have two other siblings that live with her and it's hard to afford everything for them so my grandparents took me in," I say but don't look into his eyes. It's not something I really care to talk about.
"What about her not being the motherly type?" He asks still looking at me.
"She has different priorities and always has to have a boyfriend even if they don't treat her right. Don't get me wrong she loves us but she just can't ever be alone even if she has to put up with a jerk." I say not wanting to spill everything out, but yet I want to talk to him. He seems as if he wants to listen.
"Is that why you are so independent?" He asks smiling a little.
"Ya and my dad helped me out a lot with not needing to depend on other people and I'm glad he helped me." I say looking up at him. "K my turn. Why don't you get a haircut?" I say and try to get off personal questions. I mess up his hair and we both start laughing.
"What do you mean? You don't like my long hair?" He asks and tries to whip his hair like some weirdo.
"Your hair's not long enough to whip." I say and whip my hair in front of him.
"Oh, so I should grow it out like yours?" He asks smiling at me.
"No." I say shaking my head. It's longer hair but it suits him. I like it like that, but I'll never tell him that.
"Don't worry I can't have it longer than this otherwise it's a pain and then I have to brush it a lot." He says and runs his hands through it.
"Yes, I know that it can be a pain," I say and push my hair back.
Knock Knock. "Were you expecting someone?" I ask and stand up as he does.
"No." He says and opens the door.
