"Promise you'll be back by Christmas?" Naruto asked as his parents threw their suitcases into the car.

Kushina pinched his cheek as she passed him. "Of course, we're just going to drop off presents to the relatives and be back tomorrow evening."

"Tomorrow is Christmas Eve." He huffed. "Why did you wait so long to do this?"

"We found out our son is part fish." Minato remarked as he slid into the driver's seat. "We would have left last week but there was just so much we needed to know about what's going on."

Naruto rolled his eyes but knew that his dad was right. The past couple days have been hectic with trying to understand what was happening to him and trying to explain everything to his parents.

"Just be careful," he kissed his mother's cheek through the window. "And please don't mention anything about the fins."

"Got it." Kushina said as she rolled up the window. She blew him a kiss and Minato waved as they drove off to deliver Christmas presents to their relatives.

The blond yawned as he made his way back inside the house. He shivered as the door shut since it was only growing colder now. It was still early so Hinata was still fast asleep in his bed. She was suddenly much more hesitant when it came to getting physical which confused Naruto since she was so eager and curious before. But he didn't mind, the cuddles and kisses were enough for him.

He trudged back up to his bedroom and wrapped himself around Hinata, trying to lull himself back to sleep. But since nothing goes his way, Hinata began to squirm and wiggle.

"I need to pee." She whispered in the most angelic sleepy voice Naruto had ever heard.

He immediately retracted himself and let her waddle down the hallway to the bathroom. The blond stretched himself across the bed, waiting for Hinata. She walked back in and shut the door quietly behind her.

"I do not sense anyone else in the house," she stated once she laid back down. "Where have your parents gone?"

Naruto pulled the blankets over them and let out a content sigh. "They've gone to give Christmas presents to our relatives that live outside the city. They'll be back tomorrow evening."

Hinata hummed in response. "Then should we start to get dressed?"

"Dressed? Do we have plans?"

The Hyuga blinked down at him, confused. "Did Sasuke not tell you the plans for today?" She asked.

Naruto shook his head. Hinata then smiled to herself and realized she could surprise Naruto now so she decided it best to keep it a secret.

"Then I will surprise you!" She exclaimed. "Let us get ready."

The couple had showered and ate breakfast in peace and then got dressed. Naruto enjoyed the domesticity that came with being by themselves, not awkwardly moving around his parents. He wanted this so bad. To just be with Hinata and not have to worry so much about the obstacles that came with her. Of course, he would do everything and more for the chance to be with her. 

Hinata wore her puffy jacket since it was beginning to snow outside. She input the address into Naruto's GPS once they were settled in his car and told Naruto to alert Sasuke that they were on their way.

"Hey," Naruto piped up after a few moments of peaceful silence. "What happens in the ocean when it snows? Like do you live really deep in the water or...?"

"We live just where the sunlight stops. We don't really get cold since we secrete a protective coating." She explained.

Naruto pondered for a moment before realizing what she meant. "You get slimey?" He asked with a pinched expression.

Hinata rolled her eyes, an expression Sakura taught her. "You will have to learn how to as well if you wish to join Sasuke and I in the ocean." she stated matter-of-factly. "We will be going in just a few short days and you see how cold it is above ground."

The blond grimaced as he drove and realized he was driving into his old neighborhood. Hinata began to get antsy as she watched the car icon on the GPS move to closer to the location and Naruto noticed. He raised an eyebrow but kept quiet and just continued to drive.

Once the GPS pinged that they were at the location, Naruto frowned. "My high school? Why of all places are we here?" He asked once he pulled into the parking lot and turned off the engine.

"You will see!" Hinata bounced happily in her seat. "Or..." she paused. "I suppose it would be best to explain it to you now."

Naruto crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow, waiting for her reasoning to be here of all places when they would still be in bed.

"My birthday is in four days and we do not know what will come from it. I fear that you will be unable to handle being in the ocean or if you are even suited to go with Sasuke and I." She stated, looking at her hands.

Hinata turned to face him and saw that Naruto had a sorrowful expression upon his face.

"Th-that does not mean I do not want you to accompany us!" She quickly consoled him. "However, you must know how to transform and properly move in the water, my love." She smiled at him and raised her hand to caress his whisker marked cheek.

Naruto placed his hand over hers and moved it to his lips, kissing her palm softly. "Okay." He said against her hand. "That doesn't explain why we're here, though."

"Actually–"

There was a knock on Hinata's window which caused her to scream and blast her power from her palm, which she hadn't done before.

"Hinata!" Sasuke scolded and quickly stomp out the blue flame in the snow. The car window was shattered which made Naruto wince. Sasuke turned to Sakura to make sure she was okay and then quickly turned back to the girl in the vehicle.

"I-I apologize!" Hinata exclaimed once she stepped out of the car. "You startled me!" She shoved the Uchiha and caused him to stumble backwards.

"That doesn't mean to just go blasting me with your fire!" He shouted back. "You're lucky I wasn't in front of the window, you could've killed me!"

Naruto walked around the car to examine the damage to his car. "The window.." he mumbled.

"I did not know..." she winced. "I apologize, Naruto-kun." the girl pouted to which Naruto quickly kissed away. Sasuke sighed and waved his arm and everyone watched the scattered glass reform into the car door.

The trio looked at him  in awe. Ever since Hinata had come back into his life he used magic much more frequently.

Sasuke dusted himself off and let out a sigh. "Let's just get inside," He dismissed their admiration albeit with a slight flush on the tips of his ears.

They all huddled together and followed Sasuke to one of the many entrances for the janitorial staff. Naruto still did not know why they were at their old high school but it was much too cold outside to question it. Sakura skipped ahead to the swim room and punched in the code to unlock it. They walked in and Sasuke quickly walked to the thermostat to make the room nice and toasty.

"Surprise!" Hinata cheered once she pulled Naruto closer to the pool. "We will practice swimming today!"

Naruto blinked at her. "S-swimming?" He stuttered out. He wanted more than anything to go with her to the ocean but he was terrified too.

"Yeah, so you can know what to do when we're down there." Sasuke commented, taking off his sweater and shoes. "We'll both be helping you out today. You have to take this seriously because this is the only time we can practice." He said sternly, Hinata also nodding along cutely.

Naruto gulped and began to mentally prepare himself to transform. He had only done it once before. Sakura sat down and also began to undress.

"You swimming too?" Naruto asked, walking away from the others.

"It's a pool, of course I'm swimming," she said, glancing up at him after unlacing her boots. "What's wrong?" The pinkette noticed his tense stance and worried expression.

Naruto let out a nervous chuckle. "I'm out of my area here, Sakura. I'm going to go to the ocean as a merman." he scratched the back of his neck. He sat next to her on the lounge chair and she placed a hand on his shoulder. 

Sakura let out a sound of encouragement. "Naruto, you've never been so ready to do anything. I've known you since, like, the beginning of time," she giggled which caused him to also let out a soft chuckle. " And I've watched you make a million different decisions. But the choice you made to learn who Hinata really is and the one you're making now have been so effortless."

Naruto was about to protest but she quickly shushed him. "I mean that you're willing to go to the ends of the earth for her. I know that this is terrifying. It is for me too. We could lose everything or end up the happiest people in the world but it won't happen if you can't muster up a little courage to get through it."

The blond wiped his eyes, which were beginning to get misty, and sniffled. "Thank you, Sakura." he turned to hug her. Once they pulled away she ruffled his hair and pushed him to stand.

"Go on," she shooed him. "You got this."

Naruto was thankful he chose to wear black boxers unless everything would be on display. Sasuke and Hinata swam in the pool in their truest forms. Except for the fact that Hinata had put on a bikini top much to Naruto's relief. Sakura was next to him in the water, admiring Sasuke with his navy tail and Hinata with her purple ombre one. 

"Are you gonna even try to transform?" The pinkette poked him.

The blond huffed and turn to glare at the pinkette who was encouraging him mere minutes ago. "I'm going to. It's just..." he trailed off, turning back to look at Hinata who was happily splashing around with Sasuke. It had been years since they swam together. "I don't know how." he admitted.

Sakura sighed. "They're here to help you." she motioned over to the two dark haired ones.

Just as Naruto was about to respond, Hinata popped up from the water right in front of Naruto while Sasuke swam next to Sakura. Naruto slipped under the water for a moment, startled, but quickly regained his senses and smiled at Hinata.

She kissed his nose and Naruto smiled. "Are you ready to begin?" Hinata asked, already grabbing his hand and pulling him to the much deeper part of the pool. Naruto noticed that Sasuke wasn't following them but rather was leaving the pool with Sakura and heading to the locker rooms. 

"Is Sasuke not gonna help?" he asked nervously. It wasn't that he didn't trust Hinata but he just trusted Sasuke a bit more when it came to teaching. Hinata wasn't very well spoken. 

"He is, but," she stopped swimming and held onto Naruto tightly. "When you transform, it can be a bit intimate. Especially if it is the first time, consciously at least. It is just a bit backwards for you I suppose." Hinata said with a small voice, already making their own quiet bubble. 

"Backwards?" he questioned.

She hummed. "Yes. When we transform into our human forms for the first time we are exposing our most vulnerable selves, we do not know how to properly function in that state. For you, Naruto Uzumaki Naruto, you do not know how to function in your mer form. So even though you already exposed yourself," they both winced at the memory of the freezing pond and awkward trashing. "I wanted the first time you consciously transform to be shared with just you and I." 

Naruto let out a shaky breath and felt as though everything around them was melting away. It was just the two of them. "You're so amazing," he breathed out. "Thank you for making sure I'm comfortable, my love." he kissed her cheek.

Hinata immediately turned a bright red and dunked Naruto under the water. He came back up, laughing and smiling. They locked eyes and the serious ambiance was back, the world slowly blurring away once more. 

"Are you ready to try?" she asked. Naruto nodded and closed his eyes, trying to remember what he felt the night he transformed. Hinata held onto both of his hands and kept him grounded.

He focused on the love he had for Hinata, that was an obvious factor in his transformation. They floated for a few minutes before he opened his eyes and let out a groan. Hinata was right there, a look of determination on her features. "It is okay." she said.

"It's hopeless," he pouted and looked down to the water, flinching when he saw how puny his feet looked in comparison to her tail. "What if it was only the one time or-?"

"No, no," she tsked and placed a hand on his cheek to raise his head. "Do not forget to focus on the magic in your blood and how much I love you." she said and watched him smile. Naruto placed his hand on top of hers and nodded once more. 

The magic. He forgot to try to activate any magic he had in him. It wasn't much but combined with the love he had for Hinata-

Naruto let out a yelp once the weight of his tail dragged him downwards. 

-it was enough.

He held his breath but when he heard Hinata calling out to him, he remembered he could breath. The blond opened his eyes once he hit the bottom of the pool and looked around. He saw Hinata with a huge smile on her face.

"You did it!" she exclaimed, bubbles forming. "Are you alright?" she swam right next to him. 

"I'm fine," he said, feeling weird about talking in the water. But he couldn't take his eyes off of Hinata. Her eyes glowing, hair sprawled out, and her breathtaking tail? She was an absolute vision. "You're so beautiful." he breathed out, a large bubble floating out.

Hinata pushed his shoulder, trying to once again hide her embarrassment, but just looked down at Naruto's tail. At first glance it was just orange but if you paid attention you could notice the red lines at the bottom on his fins and few stray blue scaled on it. The blue scales matched the gorgeous glow that he was casting from his own eyes.

"I think you are beautiful," she said which caused Naruto to snort. "But we must practice now as much as I would prefer to just be here with you."

The blond let out a sigh as he also gazed down at his tail. "This is gonna be a long day."

The daylight was long gone by the time they arrived back at home. Naruto laid down on the couch and let out an exhausted sigh. They had been swimming all day. But Naruto could now successfully transform between human and merman on command and could fully function in his mer form. He wasn't very quick or agile but he was mobile and that was enough.

"How are you not tired?" he groaned when Hinata walked into the living room with their microwavable meals and juice boxes on a tray. He sat up to make room for her and thanked her for the food.

"It was more tiring for me my first day here in Konoha," she said once she next to him. "We are just accustomed to different settings." Naruto guessed that made sense. He fed her a bite of her meal which caused her to giggle.

They ate in relative silence and Naruto cleaned up after them. They took a bath in his parents bathtub which was much bigger than his own and Naruto relaxed into the hot water. Hinata preferred cooler water but she wanted Naruto to feel better after their long day. 

"Are you feeling better?" she asked, looking up at him from where she laid on his chest.

"Much," he assured. "Why don't you go get ready for bed while I clean up in here?" Naruto suggested as it was far past the appropriate length of time for a bath. They got out and toweled off before the Hyuga remembered that they were all alone.

Hinata left Naruto in the bathroom to clean up and scurried to his bedroom. She sat on the bed and gulped, trying to assuage her nerves. This was probably their only opportunity to be alone. Hinata snapped and was in a sheer black babydoll, trying to remember the information from her own research on sex. She fiddled with the hem of the dress, fearing she looked a little silly.

"Hey, baby," Naruto called from down the hall. Hinata stiffened once she heard his feet padding on the hardwood floor. "I think that we're gon...na..." he stopped in his tracks once looked up from his phone. She was in lingerie. How did she even know what that was? Naruto was now very aware that he walked in without a towel on his hips.

"Wh-what?" he grabbed his robe from his desk chair and covered himself, very conscious of his already growing problem. "H-Hinata, why are you in that?"

She blushed and didn't think he would ask such an obvious question. Hinata stood up and watched Naruto gulp as he tried his best not to look down. "It is okay," she said softly. "I put this on for you."

Naruto immediately went from a panicked expression to a soft one. He smiled down at her and guided her back to the bed. "Hinata, you didn't have to put on anything like that to set the mood or anything." he said as they sat next to each other.

"But it proved effective." she looked down at the robe on his lap and then back up at him. 

"Well," Naruto coughed awkwardly and crossed his legs. "This would have happened anyways." he admitted sheepishly. "Hinata I don't want you to feel like you need to prove anything or do this if you're not ready."

She let out an aggravated huff. "I have been the one making more advances. Last week I was just overwhelmed." she said, trying to prove to Naruto she was ready.

"What I mean," he tried to reword himself. "I don't want you to feel like I want you to be this perfect human or something like that. I'm sure you searched up this stuff or something but I want you to know that I want you for you. Not for just a part of you." 

Hinata suddenly felt a weight lift off her shoulders that she didn't know was there. An unconscious part of her feared that he would one day regret being with a mermaid but then she realized he would want her for her true self. She was so overwhelmed with all of the new emotions she was feeling now but if there was one emotion she would never grow tired of it was definitely love.

She looked down at her lap, feeling a embarrassed and now a little exposed. Naruto reached over and grabbed her hand in his before raising it to his lips and pressing a soft kiss to her knuckle. Once she turned her gaze back to his face she could see the mischief blazing behind his oh-so-innocent eyes. "Can I see the real you now?"

The blunette blushed and covered her face with her free hand before snapping and the lights were off and she was now bare. Naruto let out an appreciative hum and pressed a soft kiss to her shoulder. "Beautiful," he whispered into her skin. Hinata shivered and let the blond lay her down gently. He hovered over her for just a moment before attaching his lips to the skin of her neck.

The moonlight from the window casted an iridescent glow upon her delicate pale skin and Naruto wanted nothing more than to just bask in her glory. He moved his lips across her neck and shoulders, causing her to let out soft whimpers and squirm under him. 

One hand was on her hip while the other cupped the underside of her breast. She held on to his biceps and instinctively spread her legs to let him come closer to her. Naruto did not hesitate to rest between her legs, his abdomen now pressing onto her warmth. 

"A-ah," she gasped at the pressure. "More, p-please." 

Naruto let out a soft groan and ceased his motions at her pleads. "Are you sure?"  he raised his head from where he had begun to make his way down to her bosom. "We don't have to go all the way tonight. I can just make you feel good and get myself off. I don't-"

"Naruto," she said softly. There were tears brimming in her eyes from all the new sensations but she also had the brightest yet gentlest smile he'd ever seen. "I want you more than anything," she confessed. "You shared a vulnerable moment with me earlier so I want to share this moment with you and only you."

The blond smiled softly and raised a hand to caress her cheek while he moved his other hand to support himself over her. He leaned down and kissed her which Hinata eagerly accepted. Their lips moved against each others easily.

The heat between them grew and soon everything felt heightened. She felt his hand slip between her legs and let out a squeak once she felt him move it through her fold. Soon enough she let out a sharp gasp followed by a moan when he pressed against her most sensitive spot.

Hinata could only lie there and accept the pleasure he was giving her, unsure of what else to do. She gripped his shoulder tightly and squeezed her eyes shut once he fingers began to move in quick circles. "You're getting so excited," he whispered into her mouth. "Already close?"

Hinata couldn't even respond, overcome by the unfamiliar climbing sensation in her lower abdomen. It felt strange but also so so good. Naruto moved his fingers to her entrance for a moment before continuing his previous motions. In a few minutes she was shaking and the blond couldn't help but admire the rise and fall of her chest. He wanted to taste but figured it best to not do too much tonight, he didn't want to overwhelm her even more than she already was.

"Naruto!" she gasped out before her body spasmed and legs shook. Then she stilled and her entire body relaxed. After a few more slow circles to let her ride it out the aftershocks, Naruto finally stopped as to not drive her to oversensitivity.

She panted and could hardly focus her vision. Finally, she looked up at the satisfied grin on Naruto's face and her already red face turned even brighter. "Feel good?" he asked slyly, raising his hand to his mouth.

"Do not!" she gasped. "Th-that-!"

"Tastes good," he winked and continued to lick at his fingers. Hinata let out an embarrassed noise and softly shoved at Naruto's shoulder. "Are you okay to keep going?" he asked after a moment. "We don't have-"

Hinata simply pulled Naruto down into passionate kiss and wrapped her legs around his hips. Naruto supposed that was the answer and really, who was he to oppose?

The rest of the night was not wasted on silly things such as sleep.
