Chapter 9

Eimi stared, horrified, at her now-dead father, blood pooling around him. "NOOOOO!" she screamed. Grief surged throughout her, tears rose to her eyes, and her hands turned to fists. "Dad... I WILL avenge your death. I WILL slay those witches!"

"NOOOO!" the witches screamed. "He was the only one who knew where the Emblem was! NOW HE'S GONE!"

"That's right." Eimi looked at them behind her shoulder. "And now... YOU WILL BE GONE!" saying that, she leaped up in the air, qi bathing her once again. Out of fury, she threw rage-charged attacks at her enemies. This time, they had trouble deflecting her shots.

"Urgh! Knock her out and take her along with us when we flee!" the lead witch shouted with frustration, not liking it when they had trouble with Eimi even with their magical bracelets.

"NEVER!" Eimi roared. She knew that she needed reinforcements. "Eagle's Warmth," she whispered, spreading her arms. A shape that took shape of an eagle surrounded her, its wings outstretched. Blue light was shot everywhere. Eimi looked below and saw all of the knocked-out soldiers and her friends stirring.

"Huh...?" Hinoko scrambled to her feet, blocking the rays with her hand.

"That-That's Eimi!" Noa gasped.

"Quick! We have to help her!" Riku darted forwards and shot into the air.

"You heard her! Let's go!" Mei yelled and took off after Riku.

They stopped beside Eimi and she gave them a warm smile, but her eyes were still full of tears after she saw her father's death right in front of her own eyes. But they didn't see the body of King Kaito yet. "Girls..." Eimi said, her voice cracked.

"Eimi, thanks to you, we're awake again," Riku whispered.

"Quick, let's do a convergence." Eimi gasped as she dodged a lightning bolt.

"ELEMENTAL GUARDIAN ULTIMATE CONVERGENCE!!!" Their powers formed into circles, right overlapping each other side by side. Then the middle of the circle glowed, revealing a portal. Out of the portal, came the Eagle Current which was trapped in Aquolio. The Eagle was bright blue, the shade of the sky and the surface of the ocean. The Eagle opened its beak, and a majestic screech could be heard. "Destroy the witches and save the universe!" Eimi shouted, commanding the Eagle. It lifted itself out of the portal and zoomed toward the witches, bright light flowing from its wings and tail like watercolor. "DAD, THIS IS FOR YOU!!!" Eimi roared, hoping her voice would reach the heavens.

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" the witches screamed as the Eagle flew toward them. They tried blasting the Eagle, but the attacks just passed through it as if it was made of air. With a great BOOM, the Eagle barged into the witches, and a huge light could be seen. Everyone covered their eyes with their hands.

Finally, when the light cleared, they could see the witches lying unconscious on the ground, their magic bracelets shattered. Everyone was silent. All eyes were on Eimi now, as she dragged her feet over to her father.

The Elemental Guardians gasped. They had just seen the dead body. Tears rushed uncontrollably to their eyes.

Eimi crouched down beside her father, her eyes showing hurt. She placed her hands on the Aquamarine blade. It shivered and glowed a bit, then dulled and went back to normal. "Dad..." Eimi whispered. Carefully, she removed the sword, and when it came free, she quickly summoned her healing qi and healed the deep cut. When it was healed, Eimi fell back, breathing heavily. Sweat beaded on her forehead. That had taken a lot out of her. But she HAD to bring her father back.

She had sensed something in the Sword of Aquolio. Her father's spirit, trapped inside the sword. And she had the urge to free it. Slowly, she picked up the sword and pressed her forehead to the blade. It felt cool and hard, but she could feel it vibrate, with a gentle hum. "Dad... I will free you, don't worry."

She knew of an old spell to release a person's spirit from one object to another. It could have side effects and Eimi didn't try it out yet because she was scared. But this time, it was mandatory. Eimi closed her eyes and concentrated on the words. She pointed the sword at King Kaito's body and silently chanted some sentences that nobody could hear. The blade shivered. It glowed and sparked. Then suddenly, a blazing blue arc zipped out of the tip of the blade and zig-zagged in the air, heading straight to Kaito's body.

Everybody watched, entranced, as the light hit the body, surrounding it with a beautiful blue light. Eimi quietly sobbed. Then there was another flash of bright light. When it faded, King Kaito was sitting up, looking at his hands, his eyes wide with bewilderment. "I- I'm alive!" Kaito roared, jumping to his feet. Everybody cheered and clapped loudly.

Eimi was so exhausted. She dropped the sword and collapsed. Inside, she was happy about reviving her dad, but it had taken most of her energy and qi. Her friends lay down beside her. "What a crazy day." Eimi rubbed her throat, wincing, remembering the sharp blade of the knife the lead witch had held there.

"Right. Eimi, you were AWESOME!" Mei told her, her green eyes sparkling.

"Yeah, but I'm just... tired. I want to sleep." Eimi closed her eyes. She felt Riku's warm earthy scent drift around her, her arms gently picking her up. Since they were all princesses, they had been in the Royal Castle of Aquolio lots of times. Riku carried her to her bedroom, where she lay her down in her bed and draped her blankets over her.

"Sleep well, Eimi. Just know that you did awesome today." Mei's voice whispered.

Eimi nodded silently and fell into a peaceful sleep, her dreams full of her friends, family, and love.
