Chapter 4
James's P.O.V
I walked into my dorm room to find Dylan and some girl making out on his bed. I rolled my eyes and walked over to my bed spreading my sheets on the mattress trying to catch some sleep.
"Dude, don't you see the sock on the door?" Dylan asked me while separating his mouth from blondie's mouth. "Yeah here it is," I chucked at him the dirty sock.
"Are you really that fucking stupid to not know that a sock on the door means that the room is occupied. With, wait for it... sex," said Dylan sarcastically. I did not know that, I've got to admit.
What does a sock have to do with sex? Can't he send a quick text? I am extremely confused, but of course, I wasn't going to let him see that. "Of course I know what a sock on a doorknob means. It's almost midnight and I have no where else to be. So, frankly enough I don't give two shits if you have some chick over."
He whispered something into her ears and then she got off his bed and grabbed her clothes. He smacked her ass and she looked back at him and giggled. What a pig. He looked at me and smirked, "see what you just did? That wasn't so nice was it? You wouldn't like me to accidentally walk in on you and your girlfriend would you?" he said while doing air quotations around the word accidentally.
This guy is really starting to get on my nerves. He's pushing it too far. I tried to calm myself down before turning to look at him, "don't you even think about it," I spat at him and he chuckled. "Ahh, just imagine that little body all na-" he was interrupted by me punching his jaw.
"What the fuck dude?!" he shouted at me and I shouted back, "you know what the fuck is up DUDE." He chuckled once again and smirked, " a little possessive here buddy aren't we," he said while taking a sip of his beer.
I am over this shit. I'm just going to go to the main office tomorrow and try to change my dorm. School doesn't start until Monday and it's Wednesday. Plenty of time to spare. I rolled my eyes at him and got into bed, "whatever dude just fuck off," I said while drifting off to sleep. What a douche.
Ember's P.O.V
"Our room already looks SO GOOD! Ah, and with the sun shining through the windows it looks even better than last night," Olivia squealed and I laughed. "Yeah it really does. However, we need to buy some new mattresses the ones we slept on last night were so hard and annoy-"
"Yeah well, we're in no castle Ember," Olivia reminded me and I nodded. For a moment there I forgot the journey we had to get all the way here. I should probably call Dorothy to check up on her. No, it would be too early in Gandovia. I made a mental reminder to make sure to call her later.
"Yeah well we better get going. James is probably waiting for us. Remember? We start our new jobs today," I said to Olivia while grabbing my purse. "Yeah, yeah I'm just putting on those hideous Khaki pants. Hold up," replied Olivia clearly struggling.
After she was done, we headed out of the dorm to go find James. To be honest, I'm not looking forward to be in this environment again. His dorm. Surrounded by those druggies and oh! Oh my god, the guy who HAD THE NERVE to touch my hair! Who does he think he is?
I took a deep breath and just as soon as I was about to knock on the door, I am faced with a shirtless blond man standing in front of me. He had a few tattoos and rock hard abs. Classic. Boring. Thank you, next as some people might say. He wasn't that tall, around three inches taller than me.
"Hubba. Hubba," I heard a whisper beside me. I glared at Olivia and elbowed her in the ribs. She glared back at me and I tried mouthing to her to stop it and once she finally got it, she did.
"Princess! You're back. Oh and you brought someone! How fun," he smirked and grabbed both of our arms leading us into the room. "What the fuck?" Olivia mouthed to me, but I just shrugged and told her I'm going to explain later.
"I told you not to touch her," James said wrapping his arms around my shoulders, "and that goes for her too," he said while pointing to Olivia.
Dylan chuckled and shook his head, "damn you got two bitche-"
"Don't fucking call us that and that's not how it is you sick fuck," Olivia snapped at him. He went up to Olivia and folded his arms in front of his chest, "Or what? You're gonna pin me to the be-" He was interrupted by Olivia slapping him.
Everyone was shocked, even Olivia herself. She looked like she felt bad for a moment, but she quickly regained her posture and with that her confidence. Dylan held his hand up to the cheek she slapped and looked at her callengingly, "This isn't over. That goes to all of you," he said while walking past us nudging Olivia's shoulder with his on the way out.
I'm going to say this again; the NERVE that guy has. "What a douche," exclaimed Olivia as she continued to ramble about how improper and how much of an asshole he is.
"At least, we'll be done with him soon," said James as we walked out of the building. I looked up at him with questioning eyes, "I'm heading to the main office right now before we leave to work and I'm going to request a dorm change," I nodded at him and followed his lead.
After arguing with the head leader person in the main office for about half an hour, arguing back and forth, nothing happened. We wasted all of that time for nothing. According to her, all the dorms are occupied and it is impossible to change dorms unless another male student comes in requesting a roommate change, which so far, hasn't happened.
James groaned walking out of the main office, "goddamn it, I jinxed it! Now we're stuck with this asshole and his douchey friends," exclaimed James. We heard a cough from behind us and the three of us turned to the sight of four people who were basically dressed in uniform.
Ripped jeans, a tank top and some sort of jacket, almost identical to what they were wearing yesterday. Do these people never change clothes? "Hi we're the douches you're talking about I hope?" another guy who wasn't Dylan spoke. James rolled his eyes and nodded.
"My name is Noah," a guy with almost black hair and tanned skin said, "this is Kevin," he said pointing to the brunette who was talking before. "This is Vanessa," he said pointing to a beautiful woman who had colored hair. It was silver with pastel highlights; normally I would find that hideous, but on her it looked gorgeous. She was clinging onto his arm, Noah, the guy who's currently talking. "And of course you already met Dylan."
Ah yes, Dylan! The douchiest of them all. "Cool," said Olivia while turning her back to walk away from them. "Oooh, feisty! Red heads, you've gotta love them," exclaimed Dylan to tick her off. Olivia stopped walking, clenched her fists, and froze for a moment.
No one was sure what she was going to do, but she just kept on walking until she reached the entrance and walked off campus. Well, that was unexpected. "What's your name bambi," the girl, Vanessa said while folding her arms on top of her chest and crossing her legs.
"That doesn't concern you," I retorted, copying the same gesture that she just did. She smirked in return. "Oh look she talks," Dylan exclaimed while eyeing me. I rolled my eyes and waited for something to happen. Dylan clapped his hands together, "well till next time," he exclaimed while walking past us, his minions following him.
James tightened his grip on my right hand as Dylan stopped to my left for a second, "can't wait to see you again princess," he whispered into my ears and I flinched. Not because he has an effect on me or I feel attracted to him or anything like that. I flinched only because I was shocked and was revolted by what he said. What a disgusting man.
James's jaw tightened and I tried to calm him down, grabbing his arm and telling him to look at me. "Let's just go to work," he said emotionless while walking out of campus, his hand never leaving mine.
After a long day of work I was incredibly fatigued. I never had to do anything that required that much effort in my whole life. I sound spoiled, which to be fair, I was. I had Dorothy and Benson doing everything for me my whole life, but now it's just me doing everything for myself.
The transition is hard, extremely hard. I messed up five orders today, but considering it was my first day, I got let off the hook. However, I'm going to get the hang of it eventually. I have to or else that'll mean I can't do anything, not even the simplest of tasks in the world.
We arrived back at the campus at around eleven at night. James kissed me goodbye and Olivia and I walked into the female dorm building into our room. Once I opened the door, I wasn't mad, I wasn't scared, I was just annoyed.
So far, every single time I open a dorm room door I am faced by a surprise. Always the same surprise, every single goddamn time. "What are you doing here," I scoffed putting my hands on my hips.
"I'm just here to get to know you better, ya know, girls to girl?" Vanessa smirked. To be fair, she hasn't done anything bad to me, I had just assumed that since she was friends with Dylan that she is just as horrible as him. And to be honest, I'd like to keep it that way.
"Today? Now?" Olivia groaned and tilted her head backwards in annoyance. "How did you even get here anyway?" I asked and she laughed.
"Easy, you dumbasses forgot to lock your door," she said and I mentally face palmed myself. I never had to lock doors when I was back at the castle, the doors where guarded at all times. I HAVE GOT to let go of this whole castle lifestyle, I'm not in Gandovia anymore.
I'm in Chicago, there are no guards here. LOCK THE DOOR!
I'm in Chicago, there are no guards here. LOCK THE DOOR!
I'm in Chicago, there are no guards here. LOCK THE DOOR!
I kept mentally repeating that phrase in my head to memorize it. "Listen I don't mean to be rude or anything, but clearly we just came back from work..." Olivia said gesturing to our uniforms, "and we would really appreciate it if you leave, for now at least. We're Exhausted!"
"Yeah, yeah alright, just let me catch your names first," she said while getting up. "Yeah of course, my name is uh- uh uh..." Crap I forgot my name. Who am I supposed to be!? Ambar? Amy? Becky? No that's Olivia. Natalie? Right I think it's Natalie. Natalieeee. Natalie White? Natalie SMITH! Right, NATALIE SMITH!
"My name is Natalie Smith and she is Becky Martinez," I said pointing at Olivia. The girl raised an eyebrow at Olivia and said, "Martinez?" Becky nodded and replied, "YEP, first generation Spanish British!"
Vanessa nodded slowly, uncertainty clear in her actions. "Well, I will let you girls go to sleep. Hopefully, we'll talk soon. And by the way not everyone in our group are assholes. It's just Dylan and Kevin, and occasionally me," she said putting air quotations around the words 'our group' and winking at the end.
Olivia and I chuckled in return. I hate to say this, but she seems nice. Maybe I shouldn't have judged her too soon. Maybe she's not all that bad, but who knows? She could be trying to get close to us to dig up some information that she can use against us later. You know the saying, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. Am I being too paranoid?
Yes, Yes I am. I convinced myself as I drifted off to sleep
